  1. To be completely honest.

I don't believe in a God or any life after death thing.

But I'm really enamored by the concept of reincarnation. Living again and again and again in a myriad of different lives, in different circumstances.

The ways to experience this world and life in general is so vast, I did wish at times that reincarnation is real.

I would then get a chance to live again and again.

It's just a fantasy, but it is a reason for me to root for religion - at least those with reincarnation.

  2. Sadly I think Stevo is right.

But if it does end up a 3 man midfield vs our 2 again, I'd like to see whether MON has alleviated any of the problems we've seen from this situation before.

You still can play a 4-4-2 against a 4-5-1, but your wingers shouldn't be parked out on the wings. They should come inside when they don't have the ball and then move into the wide positions when you are attacking.

But this doesn't seem to happen, MON always wants to leave Petrov and Milner just the 2 of them in the centre with Young and Downing hugging the byeline, ready for the quick counter.

I think this is a suicidal way to play against a 4-5-1 using a 4-4-2, you're putting too much pressure on the back 4 and the midfield 2 to get the ball. But I think that this is MON's preferred way to play. Let the other team play through our midfield and hit them on the counter.

It's a terribly amateurish tactic and I hope this changes.

If we are playing a 4-4-2 again, I wouldn't mind, as long as MON shows some signs of adapting and changing the 4-4-2 to combat the 4-5-1 more efficiently.

    But I doubt it.

  3. If we dont play 4-5-1 we will get stuffed

    Agreed.

If West Ham's 3 man midfield could boss our 2 ...

I dread to think what Arsenal could do. Especially with reports of Petrov wanting to play despite not being fully fit.

Captain Stiliyan Petrov is also still being troubled by an Achilles problem, but the Bulgarian international midfielder has told manager Martin O'Neill he wants to play and is set to figure.

For Petrov and our sake's I hope he doesn't play, and MON is forced to go with a 4-5-1.

  4. At around the 70 minute mark when WHU brought on fresh legs in midfield we started to struggle. To my surprise though, it was Milner who ran out of legs more than Petrov. From that point on WHU were able to pass the ball around our central midfielders who did not have the energy to chase them. Why MON will never bring on fresh legs to replace a starting CM (unless its NRC who doesnt require replacing usually) is a mystery to me.

Our finishing was woeful and from the amount of corners we had we should have expected Green to have been a bit busier. Very frustrating day to be a villan.

Milner tired more because he ran his ass off to cover Petrov, who every time he went forward didn't have the legs to get back when WHU eventually countered.

  5. Does any one else find they get a bad lower back when they do road running? I did about half a mile today before i had to stop running due to the pain. Any one else get this? any thing i can do to stop it from hurting?

Might have to do with your running style. Do you run with 'standard' running shoes? If so your running style may not suit how you are built, in terms of absorption of impact when your foot hits the ground. Perhaps the way you run causes the lower back to absorb a lot of the impact of your strides.

Try not to run with "Running Shoes", or any shoe for that matter. All of them have some form of "support" which prevents your foot from absorbing pressure the way its supposed to, and as a result it messes up your whole body's way of absorbing pressure.

Try barefoot running - you will realize your running style will improve and not put too much strain on any part of your body. For me my ankles always hurt after I ran, but after switching to barefoot running it doesn't hurt as much.

Try getting a pair of Vibram Five Fingers. It's essentially just a thin strap-on sole. It's only so that you still have some protection from nasty sharp rocks on the ground or the like. For the most part your feet can feel the earth and pressure will be distributed among the muscles of your feet, which at the moment is severely underused because it's stacked on top of tons of thick 'support' from the sole.

  6. Some species have been proven to be capable of feeling pain.

We don't know what other species can feel pain as well.

I think as far as possible we shouldn't inflict pain unto animals unnecessarily. But I still know that practical reasons dictate that we have to 'manipulate' animals for our benefit. We need to eat after all.

Is drug testing and research in medicine an important benefit to our species? I think so. Does drug testing inflict pain on animals? I don't know. If it does, but the end result means a cure for AIDs or Cancer ... then what?

I maintain my stand, I think that as far as possible we shouldn't inflict pain on animals. Unless it's really that necessary of a benefit then will I consider intentionally inflicting pain on animals. But I think it is not entirely necessary for testing to be done on animals. I'm sure a lot of people would willingly sign up to be human test subjects for a bit of money.

  7. lmao, just made the most easiest cake you'll ever make!

It's pineapple sponge cake and litterally all you need to do is put in a tin of pineapple (or you could just smash up pinapple rings or chunks) put in a mixing bowl, add two cups of self-raising flour and 1 cup of caster sugar mix it all together well... I put it in my Aga for about 20 minutes and out comes a really nice and moiste cake.

No eggs? All the sponge cakes I've always used eggs and flour with a ton of air whisked into them.

But I guess because the cake calls for chunks of pineapple, it can't be too light or else it can't support the fruit.

But it does sound interesting and remarkably simple.

I'll try it when I have the time, will tell ya how it turns out. :D

  8. I think Up! was brilliant.

In terms of being an animated film, I feel that it will be one of those that will become a classic - for many many generations to come.

It has a great story, good entertainment for the kid, and that Dug the Talking Dug is one of the funniest animated characters around.

I just think it has to be the best film, because one can watch it again and again, and still tear up when the old man looks through the scrapbook ...

Hangover was awesome too, and I guess its a bit expected for it to have received the highest number of votes ... I mean the voting demographic are mostly made out of horny middle aged men who like to get pissed ...

    Myself included.

But still I went for Up!, it's the kind of movie I think I'll watch with my kids and my grandkids.

  9. Petrov decent?

Agreed, I thought he looked good in the first-half ...

But in the second-half he was just completely anonymous. Backing off players and not going forward to support the attack.

The issue of Petrov's lack of an engine is NOT a mythical one, despite the claims of some on here.

  10. Didn't think our movement was good at all today on the few occasions when we did get decent posession. Even before the goal, our players would make forward runs too soon, which often left the guy in possession without a decent option and no close easy ball. It's all very well trying to strewtch the game a little, but we have to have a bit more sense and intelligence and not just dash forward in the hope that the player on the ball will find the right pass. Poor in midfield - but I was thinking only this morning that Arsenal could win the title. We'll have other bad days for sure, but we'll also have some good ones.

Nexty game to be a boring draw - O'Neill always tries to make sure we don't lose two in a row.

Actually, in the first-half Downing and Milner had a good piece of play, good movement and passing by both of them - Downing turning away from the Arsenal goal, drawing the full-back with him, and then slipping in Milner in the space behind. Jimmy was quick-witted enough to make a run into that space in the first place.

Movement is good. But we hoofed it too much.

Sorry, should have qualified that with "in the second half". That was an excellent bit of play with Downing and Milner in the first half and I was quite optimistic at that stage. In the second half, we tried to stretch the game too quickly which meant we didn't build coherent attacks. It wasn't all hoofing. Our counter attacking was nowhere near as potent as it usually is.

Agree. I think the problem whenever we got the ball was we tried to 'rush' it, getting it up the pitch as much as possible because we were trying to exploit Arsenal's high defensive line.So we tried a lot of optimistic cross-field balls or quick passes into wide areas, when at times, maybe we should have passed it through the middle.

Milner, Petrov, Downing and Heskey are capable of playing some beautiful stuff through the middle with Gabby/Young getting onto the end of those good pieces of play. Today's interchange with Downing and Milner was not too dissimilar from the passing between Luke Young, Petrov and Heskey that saw Ashley through on goal - only to hit the cross-bar - against Sunderland.

It saddens me that we are capable of playing such lovely stuff, but we just don't do it often enough.
