  1. Took him 20 minutes to work out the double pivot with Douglas but killed it the rest of the match. Will have to figure out how to get him a rest for the run in.

  2. I love Matty for his tenacity, hustle and fight but he could have released Bailey down the wing 10 times in the first half. He doesn't trust his passing at all. If he ever figures that part of his game out he would easily be champions League quality.

We must be around 40th with even shitty clubs like West Ham getting more matchday revenue than Villa.

Not only that but we have the highest wage to turnover rate of the top 20 revenue generating clubs in Europe. This isn't sustainable without a large increase in revenue from a modern stadium and/or consistent champions League run.

  4. Spurs are third in Europe for money generated per match. We are at a very interesting junction at Villa. I honestly don't see how we can ever be more than mid table club without a full renovation of Villa Park. Either that or we just build a modern new stadium complex. It's the only way we become a stable club unreliant on sugar daddy owners to propel us forward.

  5. I've seen enough. Bring him back. Own goal or not that's just a filthy level of skill. Bailey and Philogene sounds like a 70s Funk band and would absolutely terrify teams trying to low block us.

  6. A player having a poor performance does not trigger some requirement for people to spam their negative energy all over social media. Also, you know it never stops at the performance. Eventually you get  poster(s) who slander the character of the player. Calling him lazy, or something else along those lines. Do you get a prize for being the first to call a player sh*t, maybe I'm unaware.

Then eventually the player comes good and now you have to write a lengthy post about how you were right then but also right in the present as well. No "mea culpa" or "my bad"  to be seen.

We've seen this now with any number of players since our promotion. El Ghazi, Mings, McGinn.... Probably at least half the players in the squad have gotten this treatment. Leon is just our most recent example.  Maybe just sit on that negative opinion longer than one game. Maybe, I know this is mad, give the player time to get up to speed with the most competitive football league on the planet.

Only by the time his addons kick in,  and I very much doubt they have at this stage. I think we started at 33m.

Also, Diaby is 24 with his best years ahead of him,  and seems to be in bad form (having shown he is more than capable earlier in the season).

Grealish will be 29, with his best years behind him and a lifestyle that suggests his flame will burn out rather than explode to life in his 30s. Grealish that left us...100% I'd take him over Diaby.  The one that is 3 years older and seemingly no wiser.... nope.

Thank you. We got the best years out of Jack and should be thankful for it. No need to go back. Plus, can't see Jack doing the hard work that Unai requires of all his field players.

A sprain is a broad term which can mean a tear, unfortunately. There are minor strains and severe strains. The way Unai spoke, it sounded like he wasn't exactly sure, I think he even said as much.

If it's a month projected out and they did a scan then it's probably not a major tear.

A grade 1 or 2 sprain from banging your knee is very plausible. A grade 3 tear requiring surgery from that kind of impact would have been a freak accident.

  9. Thank goodness it's just a sprain.  The way the news broke with him having to get an MRI done I was worried he had torn something in his knee. TBH the guy has played almost every minute available. This will allow him to rest up for the stretch run.

We need to accept Sheffield United played suicide by having played a high line on average only 11m into their own half. With no intensity or semblance of a structured press they were just leaving themselves open to our direct attacks and didn't change until after we scored our 4th.

We won't be playing teams who offer us so many gifts again this season. We need the performance against Chelsea to back it up and critically bring out A game to United

Couldn't believe it when I saw the stat. You could see they were high up the pitch but to be that far is well ... Suicidal. You're right, we may not get an easier game this season.

    Arsenal shat the bed, repeatedly.

Refuse to sell ESR but willingly gave us Martinez. Boggles the mind. With Emi they win the league last year.

  12. Sent someone to the shadow realm for the second game in a row. 1st half near the corner flag. I've been looking for the highlight but haven't seen a good angle yet.

This may sound stupid, but on camera I always wonder why the defenders just don't stick a leg out to block the pass. Seems close on the camera angle, guess maybe it isn't, see a lot of clinical pass and I hit think stick a leg out lol

If you miss you just allowed the 2nd best striker in the PL a 1v1 with your keeper.

We need to stop overblowing this FFP crap and stop shitting ourselves about losing players…

Journos don’t know our situation either, it’s all speculation and guesswork. Controversial headlines and articles gain traffic and clicks…

Unai and Monchi are on it and know what they’re doing… yes, we have to manage things and be sensible but… we’re not going to make huge sacrifices or set ourselves back imo… we’re going to be savvy and come up with ways to counteract these sorts of things… like we did with recent sales…

Just listen to Unai and sod the journos…

I honestly think Villa fans keep waiting for the other shoe to drop. The years of terrible management just has us questioning everything because for a solid decade before our current owners showed up we pissed away every opportunity. As you stated, at some point we just have to trust Unai and the owners know what they are doing.

What's the saying about not knowing you are in the good ol days til they are gone. Villa fans are going to spend some much time worrying about our success they will never get around to enjoying it in the moment.

  15. Correct me if wrong but wasn't Diaby a touchline hugging winger for most of his time at Leverkusen. Emrey is turning him into someone who can comfortably operate centrally. No different than when Emrey persisted with bailey last season even though he blew hot and cold every start. I have faith Diaby will come good just like Bailey.

FFS. What is the injury even?

A weight bearing sprained joint is always iffy. Even a grade 1 sprain can take a couple weeks for recovery.
