We can be so harsh on our own players. It was 3-3 draw and he was giving his all to win the ball back and go the win. With some of the reactions on here you swear he got the yellow on a cynical shirt tug or mouthing off to the ref.

Service was terrible all games and he conjures up two critical goals. Going to end up the best PL striker Villa has ever had. What a player.

From a defensive standpoint that was about as bad as it gets. I would have been pissed if my son's U14 side conceded any one of those 3 goals so it's crazy to see a professional defender make multiple school boy mistakes. Let's hope we don't see that again.

Back line disappeared for about 15 minutes there in the 2nd half. It's like they had to go behind to switch back on. Konsa, Carlos and Pau all made mistakes no pro should ever be caught doing.

Who's going to be the first to post about United still having a shot for 5th after the weekend matches.

People were calling this a free hit and now are upset we aren't going full strength. Which one is it?

Pep broke him. He never takes anyone on anymore, takes too many touches and then passes it backwards.
What's funny is it looks to be the same happening to Doku. No one on City is willing to take anyone on. 70+ percent possession and 1 shot on target is an abysmal showing.

It was Tielemens the first international break. Seems like it's Bailey's turn for the media to create an entire non story out of.

Fair play to anyone who reads this thread daily. The emotional rollercoaster is far too much for me. The relegation threads had less histrionics.

So you’ll be livid if we sold him for £99m?
Better be £99.5 million so we can round up.

Honestly think he has been as good as Grealish was in a villa shirt this season and a lot more end product
It's true. Doesn't look for the foul just picks the ball up wide, beats at least two opposing players and scores. Up to 12 in all comps. Been an absolute joy to watch him all season.

Averaging a goal every other full 90 played. If that's erratic then what does he look like as a finished article. I'll be livid if we let him leave for anything other a club record transfer. He has everything you want in a striker and is only 20.

Need to understand the true nature of this injury and fast. If it's going to be some chronic thing needing long term management and limited game time going forward to be brutally honest we'd be better off cashing in especially for 100 million.
If that's true, no one is paying 100 million.
Injuries like this require rest, which is hard to find when your club is probably going to break 60 games played. 2 months off in the summer and he will be back to his best.

I can't believe the mental gymnastics we are doing to claim 'it wasn't a red'.
It is the reddest or red cards. It's not accidental, he's not going for the ball, intent is to 'get into him'.
It's not badly timed, it's perfectly timed to break up spurs attack.
John did exactly what he wanted to do. And (other than the punishment) it was the right thing to do at the time. Break them up a little.
It's just a shame other players didn't have the fire in their bellies.
I said as much pages ago. Our setup had effectively sucked the life out of our team. John, as captain, took upon himself to reinject some fight into Villa. He was having a good go at it but messed up. It happens, people make mistakes.
The way people dissect players actions on the pitch is laughable. This is a game played at speed, with no defined stoppages. Multiple decisions must be made every second by the player. John got this one wrong but his intent was to spark our play, so for me no harm done.

Honestly not even mad. Our tactics were never going to work so our captain took it upon himself to try and fashion something. He doesn't make that tackle if we aren't in that inept back 5 setup. Crazy decision to set us up that way at home.

We were fine in the first half, Spurs created nothing. 2nd half collapse is what cost us.
Yeah but we were also toothless, which not surprisingly once Spurs scored we had no reply. I get trying to balance conference league and the PL but you can't play for a 0-0 at home.

We look like a team who just played a game 4 days ago. Spurs were the liver side. Also, cash as your wide right attacker at home is too negative for me. Hopefully we don't see that again.
-
Cash as the right sided midfielder has worked exactly one time vs Burnley. It's been an abject failure every other time we have tried it. Please no more.

Brentford are pros at this. They just completely muck up the game.

'A Tim or two' I feel that's doing him a huge injustice and almost writing him off as a below par-to-average squad filler. He's still a kid who's barely played. We don't know how far his potential can take him.
I'm not saying he's the finished article but currently, until his development is complete, he is squad filler. I would much rather have Tim performing that role at a very affordable wage versus a Dendoncker or Chambers.

I think we need the converted Bailey haters to slide over here and start slandering Moussa. We get that negative energy flowing and by this time next year he will be world clas.

You want to keep the wage bill manageable, you have to carry a Tim or 2 on the roster. Definitely struggled but he harassed Ajax and allowed McGinn to ride the bench for the majority of the match. Job done, averagely.

You can't go on the road and force the home team to play football. Perfect result for playing against a negative side that never wanted to score.

Works in other sports. Problem is would have to be Europe wide
Not if the PL cap is the highest of the top 5 leagues in Europe. Which based on total revenue for each league it should be.
