Watching the latest episode of Shogun. I'm always fascinated by the subject of Mens flattery towards Women and how in their naive thinking of it being a means to subjugation, they often become trapped by their own presumption and impulsivness.

Buntaro: I've finally decided to grant you the honour of letting you commit suicide with me.

Mariko: I'd rather live a thousand years and never see your face again. Thanks for the nice cup of tea, though. Now **** off.

  2. 3 bacon, 1 or 2 sausages, 1 or 2 eggs, 1 sliced fried tomato (not tinned), beans (on the plate), 1 large field mushroom (or a handful of sliced closed cup mushrooms), 1 or 2 black pudding, 2 fried bread. Hash browns acceptable, but not canonical. Salt. White pepper.

    2 toast (white), butter, marmalade.

    Orange juice.

Tea or coffee (depending on mood), milk, no sugar.

All ingredients must be of top quality.

Supermarkets when they move all of the aisles around just when you have got used to the latest configuration. And yes I know I can order online but I don't trust them on picking edible fruit and veg.

It's deliberate, so that you won't do your usual focused route round, but will have more opportunities to see things you might 'impulse buy'.

One thing that has cheered me up in the discourse on transgender is, loads of idiots will finally understand what a pronoun is.

They don't, though. You only have to mention the word 'pronoun' and they think you're talking about trans issues.

So looking forward to watching it tonight - gutted there’s only 3 episodes to go (for me!)

    it’s been phenomenal viewing

I am becoming increasingly pissed off with the modern trend for filming half a story, and then having to wait a year or more for the rest of it, always assuming it doesn't get cancelled on the whim of some bean counter.

Remember when we had it... late 90s I think? I remember loads of us from the office in Colmore Row, standing on the roof staring through special glasses! :)

    1999, iirc.

There won't be another one visible in the UK until 2090.

A quote from the opening page of the Manifesto of the Communist Party:

"The modern bourgeois society that has sprouted from the ruins of feudal society has not done
away with class antagonisms. It has but established new classes, new conditions of oppression,
new forms of struggle in place of the old ones."

Would a supporter of 'Black Lives Matter' disagree with the sentiments expressed above?

I don't believe they would, they might want to substitute race and gender for class, but their view of the power relations in modern societies wouldn't be very different.

But it's not an organisation. It's a slogan.

Does anyone else have it where you have an alarm set but somehow get up like 5 mins before it's due to go off.

Like your brain is counting down to it in your sleep.

I've mentioned this before, but that was me in my 30s. So I suspected I didn't actually need an alarm, and made the leap of faith to switch it off. Never used one again throughout my working life. Always woke up at whatever time required.

My lad has a backlog of football matches to play. The season should be finished already. They are supposed to play tonight but I suspect it’ll be cancelled again due to a waterlogged pitch.

They have to play one team home and away still, they’ll probably now schedule those 2 games to be played back-to-back on the same day.

Absolute farcical situation. All the money in the sport and there’s no pitches and have to decide league winners like this.

There was a feature on our local TV news last week about an amateur club that is faced with possibly having to fold because of inability to fulfil fixtures due to their waterlogged pitch.

Why in the Fugitive film they chose to use a one-armed assassin.

It was THE iconic plot element of the original TV series, they dared not change it.

For some reason I've never been a fan of Pearl kits. Probably because almost all beat-up rehearsal studio kits are Pearl Exports of one kind or another and are usually in a terrible state.

John S has an excuse - he won that kit in a competition!

It was a few years ago and we’d won a couple of hundred quid on a lottery ticket. I just didn’t want to be walking around with the extra cash on me. It was just amusing because had the machine been working, I could have paid it in with the card but no, go to a human and… there’s different rules :D

I do think it’s the only time I’ve been into a bank on personal business for a very long time and that branch is now shut!

You can’t pay cash in on an app :D

    Oh, cash. Fair enough.
