  1. Gus Poyet is an option. Paul Lambert another. We are not out of options our board just doesn't have a clue when it comes to managers.

    They didn't even appoint MON.

It's this Premier League experience bullshit that is killing us. Someone should tell Randy that top quality manager's can be found in the Championship (and I don't mean McLeish).

Moyes came from Preston and is exactly what RL wants.

  2. i don't get all of this...

Randy approaches Wigan the correct way, Martinez turns us down politely, Wigan chairman thanks Villa for the nice way we approached them

Randy supposedly "tapps up" Mcleish, Mcleish resigns & Randy says well he's a free agent he's quite within his rights to speak with him, blues kick off as you would expect them to

Do these two actions sound like the same man?? Has Randy become so desperate, he's lost all his morals???

Think its a different situation.. Wasnt the scout sacked by E-Mail? And McLeish who was livid by the actions of the board did the same?

Ive nothing against McLeish at all.. I think he is an ok guy but just not good enough to manage a club with aspirations of trying to achieve a top 4 place..

McLeish isn't good enough to manage a club wanting to finish in the Top 17 let alone Top 4.

  3. None of this makes any sense. Every excuse we've heard for not appointing a manager has been completely contradicted with this.

Hughes not wanted cos he quits Fulham. McLeish quits Blues.

McLaren not wanted cos of fans reaction. Check the FB page and current protest at VP for McLeish fan reaction.

The board have put their foot down and are adamant that they are right.

I am adamant that unless McLeish is given the best part of £70m we are ****.

All at pains to say it wasn NOT just about the fact McLeish was coming from Blues. It was that they felt he wasn't good enough for #AVFC

Home from the protest now..Every #AVFC fan I spoke to tonight was fiercely passionate about their club and spoke well on the matter.

Its nice to see that they have acted in a peaceful manner. I don't mind the protests, but I do not condone the idiots that graffitied the walls!! Shameful.

This. The idiots who graffiti'd BMH are just idiots and really do not help the protest.

The sad thing is that our board do not seem to give a shit.

  5. It's like that scene from LOTR when Saruman shows Grima his massive army. Brings a tear to my eye.

Let's hope that Randy takes note of the fans protest. 15000 people opn FB and 2000 at VP is unbelievable. If he persists with this there is nowhere to hide should McLeish fail. At least with GH he had the excuse that he had no pre-season blah blah blah.

  6. Can you imagine how stupid the fans, myself included, will look if we don't give the job to AM? Graffiti (not me), protesting (again, not me) and moaning on the boards (ok a bit of this is me) and he was only ever a candidate. Particularly as some (not me) have already asked for Lerner OUT and given votes of no confidence based on a potential decision.

Here's hoping AM doesn't meet the criteria.

Might record talkSPORT tonight from 4pm just to hear Durham tear our club and fans to shreds with his horseshit.

  7. The most irritating thing is people on here arguing that all the fans against the appointment will come crawling back if we win our first 4/5 games of the season.

What will happen if we lose those games? Villa Park Armageddon?

It's easy to argue based on what if's but until then we either have to support the choice of manager or try and address it. There are nearly 15,000 people on FB agains the appointment and that speaks volumes. Much more effective than telling the fans to wait and see if we're successful cos it could just as easily go tits up.

  8. What has really pissed me off about all of this is that Villa fans should accept that we are no longer a BIG club yet when Spurs sacked Ramos they deserved a big name manager because they were a sleeping giant.

What's the **** difference? (Apart from the London jizz fest)

Appointing McLeish would be nothing short of suicidal for the board in my eyes.

  9. Hi General, you should comment on this now that it is no longer just in the media.

There are nearly 14,000 people on Facebook alone against the potential signing of McLeish.

You don't need us to tell you that it would be a financial disaster to follow through with the appointment.

If you can't get Hughes or Moyes look at the Championship or recently promoted men. All of which would be cheaper and more supported than AM.

Lambert, Poyet, Rodgers, Warnock. Any of these would be better options. Don't tell me that McLeish is the only one who would take the Villa job?

Please don't patronise us by questioning our football knowledge as clearly your idea of Premiership Experience is relegation 2 out of 3 seasons.

I honestly can not believe that people high up in our club are even contemplating this unimaginable **** up.

And yes my football knowledge comes from more than just Football Manager, I live and breathe the sport and telling us that you need football knowledge to understand the running of a football club massively contradicts having Faulkner anywhere near the club.

  10. The board have spoonfed us BS from day one if the appoint McLeish. Krulak might as well **** off to another forum as I can't see how he can expect us to believe any more shit from him. First we had the big statement about not letting the horrendous year under GH happen again, then came the statement saying that we have been researching non-stop for weeks to find the right candidate that fits the clubs traditions and ethos etc and now we hear nothing except a copied supposed statement from GK to a fan on another forum.

If they lump for McLeish when Benitez and Hughes (who not only quit his job like AM but also was entitled to do so without issue) are free then the board can suck on my saggy ball sack.

  11. The most depressing thing is that Mark Hughes is a free agent at the end of the month.

Our board have massively **** up with this one.

Mark Hughes is the best available candidate for the job and as we don't have to pay him anything to be our manager would be perfect for Randy's ethos of scrimping manager-wise.

I feel sick at the thought of McLeish managing us next season.

  12. Hi General,

Normally I like to be bought dinner before getting rodgered. Can I have a Balti Pie?

I think if the rumours are true and McLeish is successful you will be making a big mistake. But then you guys didn't listen to the fans regarding Houllier either and instead chose to use your "advisors with football knowledge".

When you see them next can you ask if they have any vacancies cos my wife is currently looking for a job and she knows **** all about soccerball?

  13. McLeish will say yes. **** Faulkner will roll out the red carpet and it will get signed tomorrow.

This is **** shit. Lowest scorers in the league last season, two relegations in 3 seasons and all glossed over by the luckiest cup win the world has ever known.

I honestly can fathom how the board can be so **** retarded about this.

I'm surprised they didn't interview Avram Grant the way this alleged manager "search" has gone.

Maybe it's taken so long because RL has been waiting for AM to put together a cast iron case for quitting for free.

I feel like i've woken up next to a really fat bird.

  14. Hi General. Just want you to know that I still expect Randy to continue to make the right decisions by our club and, particularly with the last club statement in mind, it is obvious that appointing a manager who will distance the club from it's fans is certainly a massive gamble if what SSN are reporting is true.

I don't think we've ever been in more of a state in my 20 years as a fan.

  15. Why would Aston Villa release a statement saying that Moyes is staying at Everton?

I didn't think the fan reaction for McLeish could get worse than what was put forward for McLaren but I actually think it's worse.

It will not end well if he is appointed.

  16. Come on, he was NEVER gonna get SHA playing like Barca was he.....

Style of play whilst there is irrelevant really

No it isn't. Managers have philosophies, how many managers in the game do you see change their way they manage clubs regularly depending on their club?

Martinez doesn't get Wigan playing like Barca but he certainly gives a passing game a go because that's his style.

McLeish is a very negative manager and it wouldn't change here. Maybe not to the extent, just like when O'Neill was at Leicester, we'd just see a slightly better game, mainly because we have better playes. We wouldn't see a change of style though from what McLeish usually manages.

David Moyes uses negative tactics, so does Rafa Benitez - but i see loads of people wanting them here?? Whats the difference?

    Oh thats right...he managed blues.

The difference is he managed to get Blues relegated twice, in 3 years. This is not good enough and no amount of excuses can justify that. He is not good enough for where we want to be and it is as simple as that. If the likes of Hughes & Benitez weren't available and willing to join us then McLeish maybe a viable option but he has not performed well at Birmingham.

I fail to see how some people think that winning the League Cup, after a massive blunder by Arsenal's goalie, and then getting relegated whilst playing god awful football is some kind of achievement that we should covet at our club.
