  1. Journeyman footballer - scored four goals in national league as a centre forward for York City last season. Biggest claim to fame is he scored against Wrexham so has half a chance of being on the new Netflix series.

NOT good enough for where we want to be.

    Monchi out.

Forest would want something stupid like 50 million, or half a new north stand, for his services.

Pretty sure infrastructure spending doesn’t count towards FFP. So you might be on to something here.

Carlos is a strange one - he's clearly got a lot of quality about him, and he's talked about as someone that's very much respected around the training ground for his qualities as a player and a professional, but I do wonder with the competition we have in the position, his injury and his age whether we'll ever actually see him play on a consistent basis.

I think we've seen the drop off in Van Djik who had a similar injury at a similar age, and I'm sure that Diego Carlos will feel the effects of his missed season to some extent, you'd hope he'll come back strong, but there are a lot of question marks.

From memory, he's only played two games for us, one of which was a terrible team performance, and the other the game where he got his injury, so we've never seen him settle into the Premier League, then he's missed a year with injury and now he's coming back up against two centrebacks who had excellent seasons and a new one who comes with a huge reputation and a relationship with the manager.

I might be wrong, but I'm not sure how he fits in the side - I guess if Konsa moves out to right back that increases the opportunities he has, but at the moment, he's fourth choice.

Be interesting to see him sprint. Not seen him do that since his injury, will be interesting to see how his achilles holds up to that and the rigours of keeping up with rapid PL strikers.

Would be a very decent front 6. Especially with Ramsey and Tielemans in there competing.

    I’d love Felix personally.

I’m terms of ability he seems exactly what we need, a clear step up in quality from Buendia for example.

I get the concerns around his attitude and seeming reluctance to come here. But from the player’s perspective you can’t blame him for wanting to play at highest level possible. I can’t imagine Bruno was desperate to get himself to a Newcastle side in bottom half of PL but sometimes you take your best option available. Maybe….maybe this time we could be that for Felix.

    Poor again today.

I love your commitment to the bit. All the caveats - pre season etc but you are correct. Both Ramsey, Philogene looked more threatening.

  6. My favourite bit of the Pau Torres video is where they take him into Unai office. He is all pleased to see him but also slightly pissed off because they’ve interrupted him in the middle of the first half of Villa v Stevenage which he is watching  for the 7th time.

  7. After only watching YT vids and one game I'd now like Alex Scott to be the under study/competition for Ramsey/McGinn in wide areas. Kid looks ready made for PL.

Question is though can Aaron Ramsey step up to do that job, got a little feeling either him or Philogene are going to have a breakthrough year with 1st team.

  8. Slightly odd stats. Makes it look like we were in really good form when Gerrard got sacked which is....not... how I remember it. Do these figures mean we had a higher Xg than Fulham when he got sacked? That is a massive alarm bell as to how seriously to take this graph right there.

Really don't know why anyone would think differently. Oh because it would be the first dual left-footed centre back pairing in the history of football?

I’m excited for the double left footer thing to drive VT wild every time we concede a goal. Can’t work out which one of them plays RCB?

Yep. I still look back at Barkley scoring a last minute screamer at Leicester and his performance in the annihilation of Liverpool.

Wasn't a great signing overall, but still contributed to a good season with some amazing memories.

Without a club at 29. Funny old career. Dele Alli style issues? Or something else missing/not right. Was a player in there somewhere. Maybe just too much money too young and he lost his hunger

Some would say that Thierry Henry flopped at Juve and he did alright in the Prem.

I was trying to think of some examples of players who have made their name as a wonderkid in lower level leagues > flopped when exposed to a higher standard > then been a success when exposed to an even tougher league.

Thierry Henry is a good one - any others?

Said in the other transfer thread him leaving potentially makes sense with Milan signing a few new attacking players, he's their easy cash in to the PL if they need to balance the books

    Linked to Everton before

Seems to be widely derided by the Milan fans.

For the right deal I would take him but not sure that deal is actually available for us. He wasnt great at Chelsea but that was a shitshow but is at the stage now he needs to finally turn up and be consistent

Given the figures involved I’d guess the only deal available would be a loan like Chelsea. They paid £11m or something for half a season. It’s difficult to imagine us paying £20m for a season plus wages but who knows.

They can afford to put some not broken toilets in Doug Ellis, some paint, and fix the **** taps.

I remember going to first game after lock down in the Upper Holte and there were no locks on 2 out 3 toilets in one I was in. They’d had months to fix it but no, beyond the realms of possibility.

Oh yeah, Diaby is the real deal. I saw him in the CL last year against… I think it was athletico Madrid, and he looked unplayable in parts.

I hope you are right. I always try and watch the “vs” vids on YT which show you all touches in a game. Few on there for Diaby not exactly encouraging (could easily have been a Bailey performance). But very small sample size so if he does come hopefully those who have seen him play properly will be right.

I think the general issue is so many Bundesliga clubs park their defences near the halfway line even if they're winning so with the right pass there's always a decent chance of beating the offside trap and being through on goal.

Haaland's debut for Dortmund v I think Augsburg is a classic example, they were 3-1 up with half an hour left and so were placing their backline in similar position to what we were doing v Spurs but a team near the bottom will never quite execute it that well.

Coming here and will be facing teams like Wolves, Everton and Sheffield United playing very deep so you have to get round them in different ways and that can be tricky games for quick wide players.

He can play more centrally aswell so I think that's really important to have someone else you can be confident playing there if Ollie picks up a knock.

Thing is for Bailey he has never consistently been able to beat his man one on one. He has moments here and there but he doesn’t have the pace, tricks, strength to overpower most PL full backs. So priority number one in any player we buy in that position is to rectify that weakness.

Never seen Diaby play so no idea if he’s stronger than Bailey in these points or not.

  17. How many seats are we losing by having no North stand for 2yrs and how many season ticket holders are there currently?

Assuming the North stand season tickets will be relocated in rest of stadium for 2yrs and it’ll basically be impossible for anyone else to go.

Was supposed to be joining Milan but don’t know if that’s fallen through now…

    @Villan4Life is a big fan.

Thing is with Kamada - if PL clubs were interested would there be a hope in hell of him going to Milan?

Suggests the PL scouts are put of by something. Not sure what it is but no way Italian clubs can compete with PL for free transfers these days.

  19. I'm really hoping Threads takes off and serves to kill off Twitter.

I wont be going to threads the idea of feeding Zuckerberg more millions is not going to happen for me at least.

But killing off twitter would genuinely improve my life. I am utterly addicted to it and its a complete waste of time.
