Im one for delving into stuff over the net and came accross this interesting article.. Its about Rijkaard and what he achieved at Barca etc.. You make no sense. Wigan to villa is a step up, but we are no porto, just in a stronger league. Jol finished 5th twice with spurs after spending loadsa money with a DOF and then failed at the rest of his jobs. Coyle has done as much as Martinez when you look at wage bills. For Wigan to survive is a miracle, they spend about as much as carew does in the rocket club.

Not a fair comparison. Include wages/transfers of respective managers and you'll see they managed very very different wigan sides.

Im sorry but if any player wants to leave my club they can go. For the right price of course. I dont wanna hold on to players unnecesarily. All players can be replaced. Young swapped with N'Zogbia for example. So we shouldnt appoint a manager because we might keep a player another season. We need to make the right long term appointment, not someone who sees this job as an easy way to make a fast buck and then move on. We need someone keen to prove something.

Martinez has never managed a big club - so why would his win percentage be high. As Wigan (smallest club in prem, tiny wage budget and have to sell any good players) he has won over a quarter of his games. He doesnt spend anything in net terms and still wins a quarter of his games. Rafa spent hundreds of millions and won half his games? Really? Are we saying Martinez is no good?

Anyone in charge of wigan would struggle when best players are sold every year from a very thin squad. I think a win percentage of almost 25% is a good effort. He has to make a profit in transfer dealings every year! Also he laid the foundations for Swansea.
