  1. All the players get 10, and so does the Manager. I do wonder if the general showed Pilchards post to Martin O'Neill and he gave a copy to each and everyone of the players, they all looked commited, determined and driven. WELL DONE, COME ON YOU LIONS!!!
  2. Hi General, whilst I love your rabble rousing post. I would like to ask you a question and one I would appreciate a definite answer to; if you can't I totally understand, but however; given you are a fan, like us, do you think, given the losses of Laursen and Barry, we are as strong a side as last year? Secondly, do you think that, if and its a big if we don't acquire any further first team members we can emulate the successes of the last two seasons?
  3. Martin O'Neill has so much to fix, and I really don't see how he can do it before the transfer window ends, The facts of the matter that with the exception of Craig Gardner the starting XI were Martin O'Neill's Signings and most of them are terrible, Heskey, Sidwell, Shorey, Beye, Davies, all awful. Not really that optimistic for this season.
  4. I can only conclude you like making up things to provoke people into reacting (I suggest you read the new announcement). When exactly was Petrov suffering from depression? Was this diagnosed or did you make it up based on the fact he said he didn't have a very good time when he first got here because of all the fans on his back. To come back from that and be player of the year last year shows exactly why he's captain material, didn't give up and demand a transfer, got stuck in and rolled up his sleeves, came out a winner - captain material indeed And please don't make up unsubstantiated rubbish about players suffering from psychiatric disorders Maybe you should do a little research before accusing people of making things up and read your own rules, in Petrov's Book, Stan/ Petrov recounts his attempts to deal with his 'depression and frustration' by 'lying on the living room floor and beating the floorboards until my hands couldn't take any more..."
  5. Petrov - Not captain material at all NRC - Doesn't play enough L. Young - Rumours are he is unhappy Sidwell - Doesn't play enough Davies - Not good enough Carew - Great player but too many injuries Milner - Great drive and determination, excellent engine, the only choice out of this list for me
  6. Agree with this. Young or Milner would be the right candidates. I don't think Petrov is the right person to wear the armband.
  7. Honestly I think a lot of our more negative posters really enjoyed that game yesterday. There are all sorts of posters mentioning how 'they knew it was coming', and pointing out how they've been doomsaying for the last three years etc etc. I can imagine them sitting at their keyboard, rubbing their hands with glee as they let loose all their frustration. Expectations at Villa Park are ridiculous these days. We have no right to beat Wigan. We have the right to see effort and application from our players (something which we didn't see from most of the team yesterday). We have no right to see fancy dan football played out by world class players. We are on our way to being the next Newcastle in terms of expectations. Our booing and negativity and lack of support to team and management are all our very own though. Nothing remotely shit-stirring or conflictive about that post then. Careful you might get red ink for that.
  8. Really? Petrov was really, really awesome yesterday... awesome.
  9. Of I'd have him back, in my opinion we sold the wrong senior CM.
  10. Do we miss Barry, hell yes, did Barry make Petrov look like a better player than he is, of course he did. Will our manager be able to find someone of Barry's quality, who knows, but going on the performance against Wigan, he has one hell of a lot of work to do.
  11. It might not be for you, but for most people voting "go" it certainly would be. A mind reader now are you?
  12. Post of the week. Fixed. Correctly fixed.
  13. Why? Did it not happen? This sentence is tripe, are seriously trying to say we looked better than the end of last season? To be fair, it's you that is the narrow minded one, can't see Villa's failings at the moment. Perhaps Sir would like to take his head out of the sand?
  14. Not watching the game today, sounds like we are playing really well - Nice one, I also see Heskey has got his goal for the season, so we don't need to worry about anymore from him.
  15. Positives, Albrighton, Sidwell and NRC partnership, Cuellar, Guzan and Young. Negatives - Petrov Injury, Heskey, Shorey, Davies. I do think the Petrov being injured may be a positive in a weird way, we looked so much better without him, he isn't suited to a 4 man midfield, and the Sidwell/NRC partnership could flourish.
  16. I agree, on two counts, it should spur the Manager into upping his game in the transfer market, and secondly we have looked so much better since he went off. I don't think that has anything to do with Petrov. I think it's more to do with us now having a right winger on the right wing. If NRC was the one off injured, I think we'd be playing just as well. (What an atrocious tackle for Carlos.) Fair dos, it's all about opinions I guess, but Sidwell looked invisible with Petrov, he is much in the game with NRC. I am shocked at this myself, and Petrov was good last year, but perhaps we overplayed his role somewhat.

  18. Take off Petrov and Heskey and we look twice the team, the Petrov part really surprises me.
  19. Not really, Heskey has been terrible, this could give Ash more a chance to float.
