Does anyone know where we got our colours from? I know , but be interesting to see how many others know.
A Pub Floor up in Edinburgh from what I can remember.
Tiles of Claret and Blue and they were considered looking good together.

So I am a bit confused.
What exactly are Kappa doing for this kit?
If Fanatics are designing and manufacturing the kits is Kappa just the badge slapped on.
If that is the case is this another way of getting a Sponsor on the shirt without declaring it as much?

Ok I will get bricks thrown at me but Player that failed to live up to the promise:
To me and he was my hero as a Kid
Gary Shaw - He won League Title scoring 18 goals in 81, followed up by Winning the European Cup in 82 and being The European Young Player of the Year (Or was it the Tournament). Sadly got a really bad knee injury and was never the same again. If he had stayed fit I think a certain Mr Lineker would have received a lot less England Caps.
Gary Williams and Colin Gibson - Young players who were part of the Success of early 80s but fizzled out.
Adrian Heath - Though it was a brilliant move at the time by Taylor
Vassell - Look like the youth team had produced a gem but never seemed to kick on after being called up by England.
The entire Youth Team that won that European Tournament - None really broke through for Villa.
Collymore - But lets be honest we knew trouble was a coming
Gabby - His numbers are not too bad but see Vassell, called up by England and then nothing of note.
Bent - Good Start then through Injury and falling out with Managers.

Alun “ chubby” Evans.
He had the big transfer before from Wolves (I think) to Liverpool and failed there.
Ron thought he might be able to do something with him, but it didnt work out. (I think my Source is Ron Saunders Scrapbook )

They were League 1 then I believe, so 2 divisions lower
Nope One Division lower than they are now - Perhaps original comment needed a bit more context

From what I’ve seen which isn’t that much, he looks excellent, £14m is a lot of money for a Championship player and one that has never played in the Premier League. We are in desperate need of a DM and he fits the mould perfectly
How much did we buy Delph? They were a division lower when we bought him from them.

well we have certainly missed a few lately in Callum Wilson and Maddison.....but I guess Mortimer and Dublin makes up for it.
Holy Cacking Batman!
So we are potentially to pair a Midfielder from Coventry, with a Midfielder from Hibs and a Special Home grown talent!
Right where is that Shirley Bassey Album with History Repeating on.

What were the fans of the pre 1950s saying when we moved from having no badge on the shirt to the Crest on the shirt?
What were the fans of the 50/60s saying when we moved from just the Crest to just the rampant Lion on the shirt in 1975*?
What were the fans of the 70s saying when we moved from just the rampant Lion on the shirt to the round badge?
Badges change with the trends of the time.
* I think it was 1975 when we changed to the Umbro Kit after getting back to Division 1

Grealish is exactly what England currently need, so it is over to him.

Okay people questioning spending on Butland.
Us Oldies will perhaps remember Notts Forest who won promotion to Div 1 (Then Top Division) in 77. Well old big 'Ed Cloughie went out and spent what I think was a record back then for a Goalie on the England Goalkeeper Number 1/ Number 2 (Depending upon match another story) from Leicester. They went on to win the League.
It has been said a good Goalie can be worth an extra 10-15 points per season. Jimmy Rimmer was that to Villa way back when. Clemance for Liverpool, Shilton for Forest etc.
If Butland works those 10-15 points will be very useful in achieving first target of staying up.

Don't get me wrong, I am a sucker for a 3rd kit all day long and I love a black number as much as the next man, but that shirt has no resemblance to us whatsoever imo.
At first glance it reminds me of a Wolves away kit (especially with that sponsor) or someone like AIK athens or even Borussia Dortmund.
We should go throwback and have that red splodge kit we wore for a season way back when.

I was thinking the same thing
wouldn’t mind him back. He still has sympathy for our club and has gained experience (EL final), plus we need a left back
Missed this, how do we know he still has sympathy for the club (Though that sounds like we died).

I dont mind this filling out the squad with the best players from the championship.
Villa need to build a squad but they cant afford to build a squad like Man Citys, Liverpool etc in one window as some seem to expect.
Building Villa up will take a few seasons and the squad development will be gradual. Buying players for a reasonable cost now is good. We are putting the news out there we do not have much to spend so are not being ripped off. IF we went and bought a marquee player from the word go, other clubs will expect some of that money.
Fill out the squad with better players than we had and keeping our gunpowder dry for the big name we will hopefully get for the first team.
Im just hoping it isnt like ONeils first full summer transfer window and we eneded up with Marlon bloody Harewood as a last minute signing.

I was told that sometime last week a show about the History of Villa was on TV. Does anyone know when it was on and what channel?

Old? Haha! I was going to suggest Willie Anderson and Ray Graydon.
Never saw your Hero Graydon play though I have met him and he is a nice guy.
Also not old enough for Willie Anderson that was before my existence
