Would it be devious to give his agent a call, offer to double his money to try to turn his head, wait as the drive up, stick them in some un air-conditioned room and BRB, give it an hour or so then inform them that we've changed our mind? But in all seriousness it probably happens a lot, other clubs hijacking deals. Malcom to Barca for instance. Disappointed, as he looked an attacking threat but we're Aston Villa and we just move on to other targets.

We hijacked Earl Barret who was actually on his way to Arsenal and big Ron Stepped in to snap him up.

  2. Is this our first player from Hibs since Des Bremner?  That was the 70s for you youngsters.

If we kept Jack and nick some Midfield Engine/Leader from Coventry Job done on recreating the DNA of 81!

Selling James Milner and Gareth Barry faded any chance for us going to Europe.

Selling Ashley Young and Stewart Downing made us a lower midtable team with relegation fear until the end of every season.

Selling Christian Benteke and Fabian Delph, well, it costed us our Premier League record.?

Not always the end of the world if you use the funds right

No disrespect to any fan, but it takes a certain study/ focus to appreciate a DM.

you cannot have a team full of artists, but they are ones who easily catch the eye......but,there is a need for a water carrier.....which allows theses artists to flourish.

some are hard direct tacklers, some are pick pockets like Stan Petrov.....but they all do that essential job.

they are crucial to the balance.

when i was a young fan, i did not appreciate them as much as i do today as a mature fan.

    DES BREMNER!!!

  5. Last night we had a few players who were fringe players who didnt play much last year and they did look rusty and a little out of sync and trying too hard at times.

Team looked disjointed at times, and partially due to the players who have left leaving big shoes personality/leadership wise as well as playing skills.

Steer looked like Johnston when he first joined, not commanding his defense but not total disaster as I was fearing after pre-season.

Might be a bit bumpy to begin with, but hell first half of last season we wasnt great either and came close to pormotion.

Gerrard threatened to leave them for Chelsea when they were European Champions. If Liverpool had been anywhere near the Championship he would've been first out the door.

According to reports - Gerrard was all set to leave Liverpool for Chelsea and then those lovely jolly Liverplop fans threatened him and his family and he changed his mind sharpish declaring all out love for the club

unfortunately it now means that he comes round and joins you on your sofa as you watch the game on a dodgy stream

Tell you what I bought one of the VR headsets for PS4 when they were on offer simply to watch the World Cup Games on the VR App.

It was brilliant and felt like you had a prime seat in the Stadium.  Though there was some blue computer generated Dude wandering around that scared the shite out of me when he suddenly appeared next to me on the virtual sofa.

If they Did this for Villa Games I would seriously consider a subscription, as flying over all the time is too expensive.

    This isn't real.

But wikipedia says it's his uncle. This is the least real transfer link perhaps in history.

Yeah I know not a real link but if a couple of weeks ago you said not one but two Billionaires were investing in Villa and also seemed to have heads screwed on ......

Despite what every one thinks about bruce. Chesters interview suggests he has the backing of the players still and They are happy he is staying.  That is vitally important.

I dont think Bruce should be the manager BUT I agree this is important.  He has built up this group of players so lets see how they respond to him.

Also think the new owners have gone "Okay - go and get things done"   Bruce isnt stupid he knows if he isnt performing he is gone.

Sometimes when your options are restricted you start being smarter and not the lazy oh bring someone else in.  I think this is what killed off Oneil in the end, he kept buying in players because he could and discarded any he had the hump with to the reserves (Luke Young etc).

He spends most his time in England watching Premier League so doubt he knows these Belgian gems unless he streams youth games from home

He was assistant manager of the Belgium National Team, would have thought part of that role would be taking note of the up and coming players

  11. We played safe far too often, prefer to shoot for stars and have this opportunity with Henry.  May never have a chance to gamble like this again.  The team should be good enough not to get relegated and Henry might add much need sparkle up front.

he will also bring knowledge of the upcoming Belgium players and probably French as well.

    Let’s go for it

That could have worked out so well.

I agree, didn't want him at first as hated him at Liverpool (Might do with a Liverpool supporting ex mind) but you could see there was a plan and he was trying to change things.

I think if given the chance he would have turned the club around and given us a base to work off just like Taylor Mk I did all those years ago.

  13. A difference between Lerner and these two is that Lerner inherited his money from the company his Dad Built.  ALso inherited the Browns.   These two have built and controlled their own businesses.

Lerner as at Villa kept trying to try different things at the the Browns and Villa but they never worked, even if most pundits agree at the Time that the Browns were getting good people in.  We initially thought that with Lambert despite what anyone said.  Houllier could have worked but they got scared off by his heart problems.

Edens has turned around the Bucs in a small catchment area for a team.

Sawaris has important links within the Industry probably though Adidas.

We might just have the Dream Team here!
