    Who said that about Taylor?

Crowley seems to be doing well for Birmingham City now

I agree with the last bit

I said it as a comparison with Cowley.

Cowley doing well for Blues?  He has played one game.  Blues is not exactly the heights he thought he was going to get by going to Arsenal.

I think Kane going to City is more of a gamble than Cowley to be honest.  When Cowley moved Villa were a bit of a mess, successful Youth Team but bad at bringing them through to the first team.  Though moving to Arsenal he stood no chance with Wegner involved.

Look at Foden at Man City cant get a regular game.

At the moment the Southampton and Leicester would be best bet, but the way things are developing at Villa I would have stayed as if we are on the move back to the top getting in early could be the key.

  2. So Kane Taylor is going to be slumming it for the Blue Noses in a few years time?

Worked out well for Dan Cowley didnt it.

At that age the players develop at different rates and what is considered a top teenager now might not develop into a top player in the first team.

I wouldn't exactly say our squad is ageing, we only have 3 players over 26 in our main squad that regularly play (Schmeichel, Evans, Vardy), Vardy isn't really slowing down at all, and we have some of the more exciting youth talents in the country (Chilwell, Barnes, Choudhury, Maddison etc.) and Maguire isn't that much of a loss, Evans was our best defender last season (he is really over hyped from his England performances)

Luckily the squad really get on well with Rodgers and his system is suitable for the players, we were one of the top performers in the league after Rodgers came in

I am looking forward to seeing how you lot do this season, I have to admit I always worry about teams who bring in a lot of transfers when they come back up, but with signing players who have played for the manager before or played together before, it makes it a lot easier for them to settle in, I do expect you will finish somewhere in the 10th to 15th range as there are stronger teams than you in the league (Leicester, Everton, Wolves, West Ham), but you never know, you could be this seasons surprise package.

Nothing against Leicester as I lived there a while back and I am looking forward to resuming banter with my friends who are fellow foxes.

My worry with Rodgers is that he always starts well (Apart from at Watford I think) but it goes downhill fast.  He is like a snake oil salesman that gets you at first until you realise he is full of it.  Add to that the one Brendan loves is Brendan.  He lasted a few years at Celtic as there was no real competition.

With the player power that exists at Leicester the past few years, has that been slowly erased as you have sold your older players?

I think it's us helping them to be honest. We sign him now and they buy him back cheaply in a year or two when he won't have any work permit issues.

If that happens it will mean he has been a success so 2 way helping each other.

Seen a video of Guardiola more or less stating his frustrations at the whole work permit process.  Said that he was sad for Luiz because he would have in or around the City first team but couldn't get a permit, we come waltzing in and get one for him.  Two fingers up to you Pep and City!!! :D

I think Man City are helping us in this, as the reason we can maybe get a Work Permit is due to him being transferred as the Fee will count as one of the points required.

How many seasons realistically would it take for us to catch up to Leicester and Everton?

Depends on how well this team clicks.  If it does I think we are not too far behind Leicester as their team is ageing (Vardy) and top players wanting to leave (Macguire).  I do not rate Rodgers as a manager who develops for the long term, so we could maybe challenge them this season if they do not respond well to his management.  Leicesters squad have gotten rid of the past 3 managers.

Everton are a strange one as also depends if they click or not as well.  It didnt click for them last season but they did appear to buy well last summer.  I havent kept up with who they have bought this year, I havent had time with all our signings.

We now have the players worthy of top half.  Players such as Wesley etc are a gamble.

We also have to see how well Dean Smith adapts to this level.  We forget thought our management team have no experience either.

  7. Bloody Hell we havent just rebuilt the Team but Built a Squad worthy of this level.

I think they are not relying on a player working.  Happens all the time a new player comes in and things just don't work, we now have an alternatives within the squad.

Even Big Ron would be impressed with this spending spree.

He’s still the one that recruited Wyness.  Madness!

Xia judgement is dodgy but I dont feel he came in with bad intentions like say the Bolton Owner and strip the club.

    Wyness I never trusted.

We have good (and Capable - See Lerner Good Intentions crap execution) people running AND Owning our club now, with the best intentions for our Club, Respect the History of the Club but want to push forward and create their own history.

Last Time I think this all synced up was pre 1940!

It doesn’t matter what his intentions were he was a fraud.

If the club had gone bankrupt the Football league should have been made accountable for him passing the fit and proper test in the first place.  The guy has nothing and was just spending the clubs money and loans against the clubs assets including against the parachute payments!!

The fact that the football league have apparently been lenient towards us since the takeover is probably because they were bricking it for letting him take over the club in the first place.

I took the view last year that yes Xia gambled and thought we would get to the Premier League but it was Wyness that pushed for us to be made bankrupt etc so that his new mates could pick the club up cheaply.

Xia then did everything he could (and yes selling off the Villa family assets) to keep the club running and avoid administration.  He did it long enough to bring in new investors.

All of you who 'get told stuff' in regards to player transfers. Who are you actually talking to? Do you all work at MI5? The FA? Or do you simply put faith to Barry at the local chips shop?

I get told stuff by VillaTalk!  There my secret source of information is out

£20m is what "average" players go for nowadays, so if he has an "average" season it will be par for the price.

You see what these dinosaur words removed haven't realised is the market has changed.

The type of shithouses who constantly refer to the good old days, call it the "coca cola" cup and think the FA cup is a trophy to give two shits about.

Sorry I always call it the League Cup

I'm not sure how you can categorically rule it out. I've said it before to do so would be both arrogant and negligent. If player A can be loaned in for a season to fill a gap we otherwise can't fill and that helps us stay in the PL, why would anyone have a problem with that.

I don't want 5 loan signings but do be so against any loan is madness imo.

There are times it was needed.  Take last year Tammy came and did a job for us but has decided to go back to Chelsea.  We have since moved on.
