  1. Not sure Claudio Ranieri would be a wise choice. Hasn't he been sacked from his past 4 jobs since 2005?
  2. Speak for youself, if not Moyes or Ancelotti then I'd say Rafa is perhaps the best of the rest.
  3. So that NottingVIlla didn't come up for the goods at 3am this morning then? Glad I didn't stay up for that shit. Fulham get their number 1 target, bet they chose not to keep Hughes on because they new he was available for free. Wouldn't surprise me.
  4. If it was Michael Bradley why would he post it in the manager thread? Confused. Off to bed.
  5. I want to as well but don't. We may as well convince ourselves he isn't coming. So if he doesn't come we won't be hurt but if he does it will feel 100 times better lol Me 2! I'll only believe anything to do with Ancelotti now if I see a super duper wuper high resolution photo of him signing a paper next to Randy Lerner at BMH.
  6. Quick question, Notting Villa, I apologise as I've not seen you post information before, have you (or has he) posted reliable ITK information before? Because I tend to get tired in about an hour and nod off, tempted to stay up till 3 and find out.
  7. Bookies bemuse me, they have Carlo Ancelotti down as 14/1 as Fulham manager and 20/1 as Villa manager. I'm sure in that interview what he said was no English club has contacted him. If so, why they think he'd more like go Fulham than us is crazy, I mean, at least we have some ambition. Managers right now on that shortlist I wouldn't take would be McClaren, Coyle, MON, Curbs and Collymore . Sitting on the fence with Martinez, Jol, Rijkaard and Hughes. Would take Rafa, but top choice Moyes.
  8. People must have just put money on MON as he has gone from 40/1 to 14/1 in the last couple of mins. Scumbag bookies probably planting the rumour knowing they can get away wth anything right now.
  9. My initial reaction is "**** off" and my carefully considered reaction after a moments thought is "**** off" too. Yeah I still have **** off floating around my head to be honest, trying to tell it to **** off but it ain't helping.
  10. 40/1 on a MON return, could be worth a cheeky 50p. MON is better manager than Steve McClaren. As twitter just reminded me, didn't Fergie Junior go back to Peterbough after falling out with the chairman? This shit is possible in this world. Initial reactions are **** off, but there are managers I'd rather not have at the club than O'Neil.
  11. now that is some funny shit, now id prefer SM I'd take him back, if he apologised to the fans, explained and had someone as director of football to help him out. Actually hang on, what am I thinking, I wouldn't! Still would prefer MON to SM though
  12. THis been posted? Villa Matt on Talk Sport has just tweeted;
  13. 7th isn't that impressive, was this during the period of time when Boro were spending quite a bit of money? It was arguably easier to finish 7th then, less money in the Premier League. I remeber when we smashed them 4 nill at their place while he was their manager, certainly wasn't thinking, even at that point in time, I would want this guy as manager. His most recent job Wolfsburg, from 21 games, he had a win % of 23%. Shocking seen as that team won the league just a season before he joined. Lets not forget that he also managed to not qualify to Euro 2008 with perhaps one of the 4 best teams in Europe at the time, England. Fair play he did well in Holland for a season, I'll give him that, can't say to know much about the state of Twente before he joined apart from they were already in the champions league. If he was foriegn with his record and inconsistancy, I would want him even less at the club.
  14. The last thing the club should want is a manager the fans really don't want like McClaren. It would only take a couple of bad results for the fans to be right on his back, which is never really good for the team. Be nice to have a manager that the fans feel they can have some faith in, not sure that was the case with Houllier, despite some signs during good periods towards end of season. Felt like fans on his back all season.
  15. Wasn't it Damian Comolli who sought out Bale and Lennon? Could have sworn he mentioned it before he joined the Plop in their director of football role.
  16. Rafa has done well with reforming the youth system at Liverpool, some decent young players now coming through thanks a lot down to his hardwork, or so I hear from fans. Bar Moyes, Rafa seems like the best choice in the list of favourites. Definatley is a manager who has it in him. He had a poor season with Liverpool and a few poor months with Inter. He won't be expected to win the league or champs league with us in his first season like at Inter though. Each time I see him on TV, he looks like he is itching to get back into managing in the Premier League. Will want to prove a point that he is still a top manager. I would be happy with Rafa. He is still relatively young, only just turned 51. Not sure about Martin Jol, he's a nice bloke, but his honors make dismal reading, hear mixed things from Spurs fan regarding him.
  17. It'll probably be someone we don't expect, like what happened with Gerard. He wasn't anywhere near the favourites for the first 2 weeks or so.
  18. Yeah they are taken from this Italian article written today. Ancelotti is quoted in Turin-based La Stampa
  19. I think I'm gonna skip going Bodymoor Heath today and just pop down the road to Drayton Manor, my money is that he is there on the shockwave rollercoaster. That'll raise a couple of his eyebrows. I'll buy him his photo. Then if I see McClaren on the river rapids, I'll do my best to pop the inflatables that keep the boats afloat. On a more serious note, if Carlo's been in Birmingham since yesterday, I'm suprised no news outlet or person has been able to snap a quick photo by now. Unless he is dressed as Darth Vader or something, ready to unveil himself to his new children, the Villa fans. Be a hell of a press conference.
  20. I'd be seriously disillusioned if we bought in McClaren as our next boss. That appointment would make the appoitment of Houllier seem like a stroke a genius...
  21. Carlo is unlikely to be offered a better job than Villa in the prem for some time, unless Man City have a disapointing season. Then again, they would have the choice of most of the world's managers with what they can offer. Spurs job is a similar sort of job to Villa, both share similar aspirations, may become available in the next year if Harry manages England. But if Carlo wanted to stay in England, he'd be hard pushed to find a better job here for the next year or two. The British public seem to have grown to him quite quickly, and it looks like he is feeling the love! So if he wants to stay in England, this appointment would be logical and a f**kin jolly good one too!
  22. It would be a match made in heaven to have Villa managing Villa with Villa up front .
  23. While that can be one of the translations...another can be that rifiutato means deny as well in Italian. Feel free to challenge that if your a fluent speaker of the language. Either way, I do not think Ancelotti has turned us down just yet. I speak fluent Italian and can confirm that says "Ancelotti will be Villa manager and the Midlands club will keep Young, Downing plus be given £100m to spend this summer".
  24. I stuck £10 on Ancelotti at 10/1. Its gone from on... too off... to on... to off to what the hell in the space of a day. Drama!
