  1. Bin Laden would fit right in down Small Heath way........Anyway, I have a quick question regarding Nike. Does the relative lateness of the Nike deal mean we will not see a full range of leisure wear until next season? or can we expect to see some new products during this season? PS in 'Jarhead', would you have let Swofford take the shot at the airbase?
  2. General, Do you know what, if any, arrangements are in place for the kit launch? i.e. where it will take place? If a location has not been decided upon, can I suggest the newly refurbished Birmingham Town Hall, as it would tie in nicely with the whole 'Proud History - Bright Future' thing. I think we should take every opportunity to position ourselves as THE Birmingham club, especially in light of recent comments from our friends down the road. BTW saw a book advertised yesterday and thought of you - it was a history of amphibious assaults. I'll PM you the details if you like.
  3. West Ham have withdrawn their interest in NRC after being quietly informed that they already own his registration. This will leave them free to concentrate on their other 27 targets.
  4. General, you have mentioned that Richard Fitzgerald is working on a DVD of '82 celebrations. Would it not be a good idea to give supporters the option of buying it as part of double package with the existing European Cup Final DVD? Any news on the progress being made with the film of the club that Randy has commissioned?
  5. General, Far be it from me to tell Randy how to spend his money, but I would like to draw your attention to the forthcoming auction of the collection of Villa fan Gerald Harris. Mr Harris built up his collection over 40 years and the lots include hundreds of pre-war programmes bound in hardback claret and blue volumes and framed sepia team photos from the early 1900s. The whole collection is expected to fetch around £70,000. Also at the auction will be legendary Villa centre half Frank Barson's FA Cup winners medal from 1920, expected to fetch £6,000. The auction will take place at Bonhams, Chester next Wednesday. For too many years the club has ignored its own hallowed history and allowed many, many items of historical significance to fall into the hands of private collectors, the worst example being the sale of the old English Cup to the owners of Birmingham City. I have called previously for the club to employ someone tasked with buying back our history, on the proviso that it is eventually displayed for all fans to enjoy. I am sure you still have some contacts in Chester who could sit at the end of a mobile phone in Bonhams!
  6. Forget Bellamy. Whilst the 'big' clubs are all busy wooing David Villa we should nip in and sign Huntelaar.
  7. General, Since you have been a member of this site you have willingly shared what you know with us, giving us a real insight into how the club is being run and will be run, I just wanted to know how much you have gained from us?
  8. General, You mentioned in one of your previous posts that Randy will speak to the media this month. Could you reveal what form this will take?
  9. Hate to see this thread slipping down the table, so here's a little marketing idea for the future. If the Govt do the right thing and provide funding for the revamp of New Street Station, there will be a significant opportunity to market the club. With it's position at the centre of the rail network the new station will have a foot fall to rival any shopping centre, the perfect location for a Villa presence. Imagine being able to turn up to the station and purchase a train ticket AND a match ticket.
  10. After last nights chastening experience, does anyone else think that we are wasting our time looking at players like Nugent and Eastwood. If we are to achieve MON's stated aim of competing with Chelsea, we need to aim much higher.
  11. Greetings General, What I would like to see is a club-appointed curator, tasked with preserving and promoting the club's history, and ideally, acquiring new artefacts when they become available. There have been numerous occassions in the last few years when items that should have been in a club museum have come up for auction. The most obvious and galling being the sale of the old English Cup to the porn pedlars at Blues. I would gladly share my own small collection of memorabillia on a permanent loan basis if I knew it would be seen and appreciated by fellow Villa fans.
  12. We didn't need a crest before '57. We were the famous Aston Villa. Those claret and blue shirts alone were enough to distinguish us. I would like us to return to the round badge, with proper gold thread instead of yellow and the addition of a star for the EC win and the year of our formation.
  13. He is on the back of today's Post at some press bash. Glass of white in one hand, looking hale and hearty. Shit.
  14. We aint going down this season. Perhaps a better poll would have asked how long before our slide leads to the inevitable?
  15. There are no **** lists.
  16. Albion - only proper club out of that lot.
