Garde never stood a chance, though. That squad (and the whole club) was a shambles by that point. Stevie G has an expensive squad full of intern... uh, former internationals.

I hope to god we bring someone in to look after the football side of things.
Purslow is great on the commercial side, let him stick to that!
That was the warning from Liverpool fans. Despite his strengths, he won't keep his nose out of the footballing side.

Get out Stevie G
How sh*t must it be
You're a daydream believer
And the worst that I've seen -
Ollie runs but doesn't make runs. Emi and Phil have nobody to pick out on the rare occasion they get the ball in the final third, they just get swamped by 3-4 players while trying to keep the ball long enough for a Villa shirt to show for it.

If you look at Ings' numbers, he actually puts in as much or more work than Ollie! He's not as strong aerially or likely to push defenders around, though.

Bert's tendency to take first-time shots would be enormously useful at the moment.

I’d rather have a 30yr old Gabby up front than this bloke atm.
Is Ings not turning up for training?
What must Archer think?
Ings has never really been a lone striker and the manager is never going to take any chances with the likes of Archer at the moment. He seems to want a target man now but we shipped out the only player we had with that sort of profile, so we're left with Ollie.

Cometh the hour, cometh the Fred... (I know Slippy will just play a CB there or Young on both sides simultaneously, but still.)

Yup. First he thought he could break his leg, but he thought an Achilles rapture would do the trick.
Now that's what I call a real tribulation!

Why do we bother with midfielders?
We don't!

Coutinho yet again coming deeper than both 8s in our own half.

Well, he did say we'd have to drop the pretty football.

Sanson the previous top assister in Ligue 1, could you see McGinn doing that?
Sanson was also in or around the 99th percentile for pressures in Europe's top 5 leagues for 3+ seasons, while our side has apparently forgotten how to run.

Don't know what he was doing trying to suck off grealish yesterday. Really weird.
Old habits and all that.

Thanks for the point, Steve, now you can leave on a positive.

If we were signing a player that had been one of the highest rated defenders in France for two seasons and helped a club like Strasbourg compete for a European spot, we'd be thrilled. Instead, we've bombed him out AND sent our youth RB out on loan. Strategy Steve at work.

Where does he fit in then ?
He's a true DM that can cover CB. Would assume a Marv replacement.

So outs? Guibert and Sanson? or maybe Poch said he wants them to stay.
Would absolutely not let any senior pros out the door at this stage.

Permanent League Two loanee, apparently.

Doesn’t matter who it is. Coutinho or Buendia, neither make a difference when the game starts which leads me to believe it’s the way Gerrard sets up the squad.
With a striker that runs but doesn't make runs and a midfield that almost always has to stay behind the play to cover the fullbacks (and/or is just plain static), small tricky 10s will never be effective.
