Seems to be a lot of links to midfielders
We've been playing a kind of double pivot + two "8"s in the wide positions, if we stick with that we'll definitely need another mid, if we shift to three in the middle + the wide mids and/or let almost anyone leave we'll probably need two. We don't have any cover for the JJ and SJM roles on the flanks as Dougie, Kamara, Youri and The Donck are all pretty strictly central and not the quickest, and putting Bailey or Bert out there changes the system. Guess Buendia could be shifted back out wide like at Norwich but he hasn't been used that way much for us.

Great ball to JJ, should've had an assist.

IBTL but in the best way imaginable. What a journey.

Don't like this referee.

Feels a bit like a MON signing imo.

Midfield off it today, too slow and static and couldn't get the ball into Ollie consistently. Defense sound enough despite the high risk tactic, but Martinez will want that one back. As expected no help from the ref who let Casemiro in particular trample whoever he wanted. Probably should've just about drawn level, but meh.

Phew.
I dunno, the "get well soon" messaging on the club socials is ominous.

How tf does he consistently beat players so easily?
He's fast as fuuuu.... and has excellent technical ability to go with it.
I suspected the combo of Moreno and JJ would set out to exploit old man Trippier and was surprised Howe neither foresaw it nor did much of anything to counteract it. They had him for lunch.

It was as loud as I've ever heard it at times on the NBC broadcast.

Wish he'd scored that header, we know he can do it but the shortest man on the pitch putting away a header while being marked by Burn would've been especially amusing.

Miss the presence of a 7 foot 2 inches tall Elphick….
That was just two Tommys in a trenchcoat.

No way Emery goes for Pickford. If Emi leaves, it'll be someone from Spain/Holland/Brazil/etc with better on-the-ball ability.

Would have been nice if his goal was onside as well
I want to see the stupid VAR lines. Any other time they'd be deliberating over every tiny touch and angle with multiple replays, but they just blew through it yesterday and it annoys me to no end.

Ahhh, there's the Villa I know and hate. Allergic to success.

His ability to shoot first time and/or with no backlift is something we really need. So much of our attacking play fizzles out because our forwards take too many touches and miss the best windows to shoot.

I'm mostly just pleased Bertie's back.

Should mean we're expecting Carlos back shortly.

Linked to Lewis Rutherford-Pynchon from Gilbraltar FC.
This lot will be crying about him after 49 seconds.

He is the only midfielder we have who can break the lines and carry the ball 50/60 years up the pitch.
Ball hog.
