I think what Clegg will have to be very carefull about is how all this comes across, he cuddles up to Cameron, just how much of his principles will he drop, that's the question, if Clegg is seen to be a "sell out" is political career is over because the way the Tories will look within the next 6 months, utterly detested, and probably another General Election within 2 years, Clegg will be seen as someone that bends to get power. The reason you never see Gabby doing what he should do, and that's run at people is because for some unknown reason he spend all his day backing into defenders, trying to turn defenders and holding up play, laying the ball of to bring midfielders in, I've been screaming that all season. Trying to think of a goal this season where we have seen Gabby run and score, so much so his rating as the Premiership fastest player has been eclipsed by a good few, even Sol Campbell has been deemed faster this season than Agbonlahor over 100mtrs in game play. Some of Carews best play this season has seen him play right from his own half and although i take your point about Heskey i would differ in so much as i think Heskey main strength is his ability to be awkward and play the odd decent good ball, but lets be honest he isn't good enough for top half Premiership football IMO.

Think we need more than that, IMO we will lose our midfield and although i agree with your point about our front men needing more, they also need far better service from midfield, which they don't get, this long cross and long ball whacked in all the time leaves a massive amount for any front men to do even Drogba would struggle. I would love to see some stats in relation to how many goals have come this season through the centre, how many have come from shots from 18/25yds and then see how many have come from set pieces and crosses and long balls, the reason we score mainly on the break, mainly from the big ball in and mainly from set pieces is because we don't have the kind of creativity in midfield to do otherwise. Agree about your point up front, however i think our midfield seriously lacks.

Well i can only make a comment for how i see Downing and i'm making it based not just today but his season (as we are at season end) and i just don't think he's shaping up to be the kind of player that will push us on to bigger and better things, however he is a good average player that gives a squad depth, problem is Villa IMO needs more than that, Downing wouldn't be my first choice, and we need movers and shakers in midfield, in defence and definitely up front.

Well, poor, thats it. Think there was a few faces there today for Villa that we may see running out against us next season, Milner will be of IMO, Ash Young, although have to say it i would be amazed if the top sides came in for him, another player that seems to have lost it to me is Downing, i did think another season, but i think this injury thing has really set him back. For me the big news will be MON, without question hes done a lot in making the club stable again, and we have had some exciting moments and times, i just can't see where he goes from here within the club and i think thats what RL may be thinking.

CED: I think he will struggle to back Brown, I wouldn't put it past him though, for me that depends on the rewards. I think for Clegg to back Cameron he must give way on electoral reform, and because the Libs where stitched up before ( i think be the Tories) on even just looking at reform previously and the Tories took it straight of the agenda once they got what they wanted, they would have to go public in the event that the Tories don't come good they can be exposed. Personally all in all i just can't see how any of this can be stable government, can't see how it can work, and can see another election within a few years, really IMO they should call this of, go as you where boys, reschedule for later in the year, set a date and go for it. Big weekend this, I just can't see Cameron giving his word to Clegg on electoral reform, just wouldn't make sense. I can't see Cameron giving his word to Clegg that he wont implemant this 6bl out of the economy thing that was part of his manifesto (major part) that Clegg objected to as folly live on telly and to his face. I can't see Cameron agreeing to raising the Tax level up to £10,000 a year for every working person, that so isn't the Conservative way of doing things. However, i can see Clegg getting all the above if Cameron gives him a cast iron set in stone, date an all, on electoral reform and proportional representation, and for him to do that he's giving any future Tory party election a mountain to climb to get in again............................can't see it. On the other hand I can see Labour give way on electoral reform because they have already made sounds in that direction. Labour already agree with the Liberals on the economy thing and not to endanger the recovery. I have no doubt Brown would give the £10,000 tax thing to the Liberals. So where is the problem, the problem IMO is Brown himself, he doesn't come across to me like a bloke you can work with, I think Clegg would want assurances between them of a date when Brown would step down, the way Blair give such an assurance to Brown for his full support. IMO. would Brown give such a thing ?

I don't think you would find many who would disagree with you on that, but you are seeing now that the quest for power still is the major factor for most of the people who got voted in. Its the same for nearly all people in politics IMO Quite, and how sad is that, you would think it would occur to them that if you know that and i know that and as you say many others know that, one would stand up and say lets do it different, lets show the public that politicians are not egotistical fiddling power obsessed morons.

It is flawed, but you also have to take on board that since 78 every party have swept to power with a massive overall majority, Maggie in 78 giving her 18 years of power and then in 97 for Blair giving him 13 years of power, that is maximum stability for the nation, which is what we need, precedence as shown before that when a party has had to do deals to get power, they've gone at the next Election and have existed through massive Turmoil and unrest. IMO I honestly can't see other than ego what these blokes are messing about at, if they all came out in front of the cameras now in Downing Street and said none of us have an overall mandate, we also are not happy with the abuse of peoples rights, therefore we will maintain the status Que for a period of 6months at which on this given date there will be a General Election. They would have my absolute respect, because i know they are doing it for the people first.

Rodders: They are saying that, but if there is wheeler dealing at a time like this if there is deals being done, the very second something goes wrong there will be hell to pay, mudslinging, and that old stick, " well you never had the confidence of the public and your only in becuas eyou did a deal". I'm not making judgement in favour of any party, but if they can't see the writing on the wall when things go wrong they are stupid, most importantly they have to take on board the thousands that have been denied there rights.

If the Lib Dem get into bed with the tories, Clegg will demand electoral reform, which will mean that Cameron will sign his own death warrant. Absolutely, which is why Paddy Ashdown is now saying on TV that Cameron should form a government, the deal Cameron will have to do is as you say a death warrant for the Tories or a war when he reneges on it despite the fact Ashdown is saying there has been no deal.

I agree, Britian only works with a total mandate, can you imagine Cameron trying to get an austere and severe unpopuler Budget through the house on the otherside Labour and Liberal doing deals to stop it and the conservatives scratching around trying to get support from little partries like the DUP to get support and get it through the house, just not worth it.

I wouldn't mind betting that knowing how resolute and considered and firm Mr Lerner makes decisions he would say, another Election, its only fair after all, the public having given anybody an absolute majority we all have to go out there again do it again and earn it, and earn the public trust with the country facing huge uncertainty. The constitution is quite clear. Brown as the incumbent Prime Minister can do deals with other parties to make a coalition government. Cameron can do the same. In the meantime the mandarins of Whitehall are in power, which in reality they always are. The convention may say that but they have to take on board what is a national disgrace in people being denied the basic right to vote, which by the way it just takes one of those people in each area to serve a writ to the electoral commission and they have to have a by-election, also if we are scratching to get the mandate it will cause massive instability, and we don't need that with the kind of politics we are about to endure, we need complete confidence and a total mandate form the public. 6 months is nothing, the another Election and make sure there is no error.

I know someone having talked to them this morning that turned up at 7 last night, couldn't get in, went back at 8.30, same, want back at 9.15 waited till 9.50 when an official came out and told everybody to go home, about a 100 people, his excuse was there was a slow down becuase so many people had not got polling cards and they couldn't track them, so they couldn't deal with it. 5 mins before 10 the doors where closed and people locked out, Thats illegal pure and simple.

Most people were working and had to vote after work when the queues were huge, also students at Manchester University were all registered at one polling station which had no chance of coping. Other places ran out of ballots and closed early. I really don't know why you would not be sympathetic if people were not allowed to vote. This is the UK not Iraq, it's a bit of a joke that it was so poorly organised. if you knew you was working all day you should have used the postal vote even those on 12hr shifts had 3hrs to do it the whole thing to me stinks of people on the jolly all day rocking up at half 9 outraged that it was busy which sums us up, however the running out of ballots I cant argue with, they know how many are registered and they knew turnout would be high But how does that apply to hundreds of people turning up that had not received polling cards expecting to get those at the polling station, then being told at the polling station there is no record of them living there and being turned away.......its a joke pure and simple. As far as i'm concerned if just 1 person as been denied the right, then it has to be another General Election otherwise whats it all for.
