  1. I went to the game last night for the first time in a while and nothing has improved on the Hutton front for me. I think he is ok in a challenge but his positioning is really remarkably poor. Several times last night he was suddenly at centre back or even closer to left back leaving a gaping hole on the right. I find it utterly bizarre that a professional footballer with so many games under their belt can get basics like that horribly wrong.

  2. I don't blame you for not renewing. In my opinion the atmosphere is dreadful, the football is dreadful (although optimistic it will turn around under Xia at some point), it is overpriced (I know it's cheap in comparison to other clubs, but I just think football is a rip off) and Sky mess around with the fixture dates and times far too much. I much prefer picking and choosing and watching some games on TV. That's the way I see the current generation going unless some of the above points are dealt with.

I totally agree, sacking multiple managers the way we are, is not the way to get success in most parts (Though many premier league teams will show you have effective it can be to change managers when there is a bigger plan behind the club)

Our problem since the days of Lerner has been that the manager have had 100% say in how we play and who we buy, we need the higher ups to instill a style, so that we can hire managers that fit us so that we don't have to adapt to every manager. Though, this is a longer discussion, that I am unwilling to get into.

The problem with Bruce, is that I honestly can't think of one positive thing to say about him, I can't see us going up with him in charge next season regardless of his record. He has done well for poor teams, he has never had a team that takes controls of matches. Buying all the talent in the league means that we HAVE to be the team that takes control of matches, the team that dictates tempo. Bruce has no game plan, he puts 11 players on and asks them all to defend just in front of our box, and then he buys players that want possession, that want through balls, that wan't to play football, why he is not allowing them to do what they are good at, makes no sense to me.

We need to bring in a manager that will fit a certain style, only buy players for that style and only hire managers that fit that style, like Southampton are doing.

Mistakes will happen every game, the way Bruce set's us up makes them costly. The top 10 teams in the Championship would have at least scored 3 today, as Nottingham were very poor.

I have to disagree with your point about that he has "done well for poor teams". When Hull came down and Birmingham they were expected to do well and at this level when dropping from the Premier League were certainly good teams.

Southampton's bubble appears to have burst at the moment but that is probably down to constant selling.

One thing I agree on is having a certain style. I think it needs to be right the way through the club from u18s to the first team. A way that we play, a mentality we adhere too, a never say die attitude, an attitude of respect (kicking the ball away like Grealish did tonight costs us - surely we are better than this). This all takes time to sort out and changing managers all of the time won't get us nearer to this.

Bruce is trying, he's trying new formations, new players etc. It's not clicking at the moment but Bruce deserves more time to turn this absolute mess of a club around. I think we can do it, but as fans I feel we have to have a reality check. Lot's of change will not result in instant success. We need unity in this club massively. Let's make it hostile for the opposition not our own team and staff.

Is it negative to expect the most expensive team in the history of the championship to at least entertain a bit?
And yes, you are right, if it was Ancelotti who played this dire football ans such poor results, I would want him gone, don't care about the name of the manager, don't care about his history, it means nothing when you are failing as miserably as Bruce is at the moment.

He is yet to use nearly the same team two games on a row, making so many changes every game, he plays the worst and most negative football I have ever witnessed and he does this WITHOUT GETTING RESULTS. If it takes so long for new players to settle THEN DON*T USE THEM. Also his substitutions are an absolute joke. Waits forever and they never have any impact at all, except for Grealish at times. Grealish was an idiot, but he only missed the last10 minutes of the game, he can't be solely blamed for the other 90 minutes.

The manager merry go round will continue with this mentality. That's done us well for the last 6 or 7 years hasn't it? So if we got a new manager in and this continues do you sack them as well? Or give them time to sell all of Bruce's signings and bring in his own and then sack him after?

Christ, not even Ancelotti would be safe here. Says it all. If we keep sacking managers then who will want to manage here? Also, the players can continue to hide behind the managers criticism. It's just a recipe for disaster this constant "manager out" thinking. Please, just give him some time! At least until later this year to see where we are.

  5. I expected to see posts calling for the manager to go already. Haha! Such negativity. Who are we going to get in? It could be Ancelotti and there would be calls for him to be fired.

We need to be patient and we need stability. Overhauling a squad takes time and it will take time for the new players to settle with their team mates and moving house etc etc.

Bruce has been there and done it before, so give him the time to do it. David O'Leary was right - we are fickle! How about blame Jack Grealish for being a class A idiot for tonights result?

  6. Kodjia coming home early would be a massive boost. By the time we next play we could have Kodjia, Bree, Hourihane and Bjarnason in the squad. As well as Lansbury of course. Positivity gauge probably at the highest it has been for a while!

Oh yeah,  well I suppose you would have been perfectly happy is we had signed Jerrmain Defoe when he came back from America then?

Ermmm sorry,  yes of course you would,... Sorry bad example :D

Not sure if you replied to the wrong person there?

Anyway - Defoe. Of course it would've been a good signing. I was saying I'd prefer the up and coming players who really want to be here - doesn't mean they've barely played football. Hourihane has proved it at the level we are playing. Players like him are the kind I want to see us getting in.

For every Defoe there is a Ricky Lambert and an Emmanuel Adebayor :P

You've just summed up Lambert's first window.

No thanks. I would not take the Westwoods and Bennett's of this world over seasoned professionals.

Obviously there are extremes either side but on the whole I'm happy with tried and trusted over gambling on players again.

You're right, there are extremes on each side. I was thinking a player like Hourihane who has proven himself at the level we find ourselves and will make a step up to join us. So in a sense Hourihane is tried and trusted. I'm not talking about signing complete gambles, I'm talking about us getting players from lesser clubs at either CH or LG1 level or PL reserves who would be making a step up to play first team football for us.

  9. I'm happier with incoming players who are making a step up to join us rather than a step down. Jagielka has obviously had a good career and large portion of it in the Premier League. I would rather us sign the players who are hungry to achieve, happy to sign and have it all in front of them. There is a place for more experienced pros but we have to be careful - we wouldn't want another Lescott type player joining.

  10. Really pleased to see Green and Davis get some more game time today in the first team - perhaps the only positive!

I really think we have to have a continuity throughout the club from Academy/u23s to the 1st team in the way that we play. At the moment because we have been in such a mess for so long we don't have this. I'd like to think that whilst we are stabilising things on and off the field (slowly) this will get addressed.

If we can play in a certain style at every level it will make it so much easier for the youth players to make it to the first team. It would hopefully stop completely starting all over again with a completely new philosophy every time we change manager. Also, it should help with acquiring the right players that we need to buy in from elsewhere.

  11. Just came across the below on http://www.footballgroundguide.com/leagues/england/championship/molineux-wolverhampton-wanderers.html#apubs-for-away-fans

Not sure how long ago it was written mind.

"Well it may be a great stadium, with good atmosphere, but the main drawback with a visit to Molineux is the lack of away friendly pubs for visiting supporters to drink in. Now there are a number of pubs situated around the ground, but they do not admit away fans, which to a certain extent I can understand. But what is a real shame is that unlike many new stadiums that are located out of town with not much in the way of drinking holes located around, Molineux is only a 10 minute walk away from the city centre where there are plenty of pubs to be found. However by far the greater majority of these are for home supporters only on matchdays (even the Wetherspoons has bouncers on the door demanding to see your match ticket for one of the home sections before being allowed entry).

Tom Rice a visiting Aston Villa supporter informs me; 'The Stonehouse bar in the city centre (on Queen Street) seems to be the designated pub for away fans to drink in. The bouncers on the door, checked to make sure that we were Villa fans before entering.' The bar which is family friendly normally opens at 1pm on Saturday afternoons.

I have also been advised that there is a small bar called the Bluebrick inside the Premier Inn hotel, located near to the railway station, which is being frequented by away fans. If arriving by train then as you leave the station entrance, turn right and you will see a walkway going down under the station. At the bottom of the walkway turn left and after a short walk you will see the Bluebrick over on your right. Also some away supporters have also been frequenting the George Wallis in Victoria Street and the Lady Wulfrun in Lichfield Street.

Alcohol is available inside the stadium this includes Carling (Pint £3.70), Banks's Bitter (Can 440ml £3.40), Aston Manor Cider (Bottle 500ml £3.70), Magners Cider (Bottle 330ml £4), Guinness (Can 520ml £4), plus wine and spirits (£4) "
