I do worry whether injuries have destroyed him, I guess this loan spell will help us on that one. He's player with a lot of good raw materials, good pace, quick feet, good technique and a very good shot. But a combination of injuries and shite coaching could have resulted in him not developing a good football brain, and he may have lost some physical attributes.

He's in the Marc Albrighton phase. We'll release him and then he will win the champions league or something.

Can't see him staying if we don't go up.

He is a bottom half premier league standard CB after all.

If selling him meant gettin in Grabban and Snoddy on permanent deals I'd do it tbh.

But that only leaves us with Terry and Samba (!) and even they might leave. In this scenario, we'd need 3 maybe 4 new centre-backs. We've got to keep JC.

That is exactly why imo it won't work...what difference would it have made in 2010? Dowd knew it was a foul, he saw it perfectly, he gave a pen, he knew vidic was the last man, he knew it was a red, he chose not to give it because he was inept, why would a ref in a booth with a tv not be inept?

What guarantee is there that VAR would give the right decision?

    There's isn't any...so what is the point?

It doesn't guarantee it, but it gives a much higher chance of being correct. The officials have a chance to catch their breath, talk over the radio, watch it back and then make their decision. I'd much rather that than a split second decision, or perhaps the referee even missing something completely. So if it increases the chances of decisions being correct, why wouldn't you want it?

  4. I watched AC Milan v Udinese in  September and VAR was in action. 2 goals were disallowed when they might have otherwise incorrectly stood and changed the whole course of the game. It's quick and makes total sense. I'm just shocked it's taken this long to do this - I mean rugby and tennis have had decision help using technology for years.

I for one wish it was in play for the League Cup final in 2010 ;-)

I have totally ignored the Preeemiership this year.

Are there any half decent strikers not getting games who might consider dropping down to play for us?

I wonder if we can get JT into someone's ear.

    Peter Crouch maybe

Without Gareth Bale he would have been just as shit as Wales manager as he has been throughout the rest of his managerial career. Apart from a half decent period at Fulham he has been bobbins everywhere he has been.

Still, he got them to the Semis with a pretty naff squad Bale and Ramsey aside - further than a lot of nations with far better players. Anyways, I'm not saying he's a world beater but he isn't a terrible manager and I just feel our game has got harder. Still expecting a win, however.

  7. This game has just got harder with Coleman being appointed I think. His track record with Wales was impressive and he had the respect of some big names so I expect the Sunderland players will respect him straight away and will be fighting for their futures. I don't think he will suffer any fools up there. Hopefully for us it will come too soon for a bounce but I think he will get them safe.

I think we have to rotate for this game. Last time we had a number of games in short succession (Blues away on Sunday, Preston away Wednesday, Sheff Weds at home Saturday) we looked short of fitness against Sheff Weds. Players have been off on internationals last week, then obviously we had QPR at the weekend and now it's another midweek game! With our injury list too we have to ensure our key players stay fit in the long run. I'd be inclined to give 2 or 3 players a start who didn't start Saturday.

Do you think it will be the same as last week or will Bruce pick Davis for some physicality? Thing is Onomah had a good game last week so it would be a bit harsh in dropping him, and he surely won't drop Kodja?

Not sure. I feel like we have to play 3 in the middle as we don't have the pace, so most likely Davis to come off the bench I think.

    Came on for 10 minutes.

    Got a goal

    Scotland go out.

Great goal. He made a really positive impact when he came on. Really bodes well for us as he gets sharper and more games under his belt!

Really need more songs about the Villa and our players… There was WAY too much singing about SHA on Saturday, it's embarrassing. 'My Old Man Said…' 'Birmingham are you listening…' crap songs that really should be cut out unless we're actually playing them.

    What about this....

Huge, absolutely huge. This is probably the biggest wolves vs villa game in many many years. Need to leave with something, a defeat would put massive pressure on us

Not sure it would put massive pressure on the team losing there. Wolves away is a tricky game any time but they look superb this season. I'd view it as if we take something it is a massive positive but a loss isn't the end of the world. I want to see us try and win every game but if we lose sometimes then so be it, better than drawing all the time.

  12. I think this is still our problem. We don't have a preferred style of play or formation but we have lots of decent players. What we keep seeing is formation tinkering and team tinkering but it isn't working so far. What I want to see is Bruce sticking to a formation and a style of play and then bringing into the starting line up the most suited and natural players.

Sure, we need to be able to change formations sometimes but every week is just suicide IMO.

Checking their attendance figures there and they seem to hover between 40k and 50k in an 80k stadium depending on opponent, so you'd assume tickets should be handy enough to get.

My thoughts too! Just strange they don't seem to be readily available online with 2 weeks to go till the game

They release tickets on the website for matches, we got them a few weeks before for the derby against Inter. They will come up on the website eventually, but also, you can always email the club, or get them when you get to Milan, from what I can remember they rarely sell out, who is it you would be watching them play? Definitely try and get behind a goal, the atmosphere in the side stands was poor, but that was due to lots of tourists who didn't really follow football. When you go to Milan, make sure you go to the Navigli area for drinks its stunning and happy hour = free anti pasta. I will have a look through my emails to see if I can find anymore information for you.

It is Udinese on 17/9/17. Thanks for the tips about where to sit and for drinks - free pasta sounds amazing! Thanks for replying really appreciate it
