    Why?

He has loads of Championship football under his belt, he is part of a successful Wales team with fantastic team spirit (actually looks like he gives a dam!) and whilst he clearly isn't a top top player he is certainly good enough for our level. He also had a season in the Premier League with Reading I believe. Only 27 years old too. That fact he is on a free transfer is appealing too.

some of the most loyal/passionate villa fans i have known have been our hooligan element.the "they're not football fans is bull crap".

through my brother having worked with some of them i know some of c-crew.to say we don't have ourselves to blame is to be unaware of our history.you can go back to the early 70's with arsenal/pool/derby and leeds fans to know where the problem stems.myself i have been to every final(euro and world),from 86-2000.in my time i've seen people of all ages sing 2 world wars and 1 world cup to germans.we do have ourselves to blame.in the 1990 world cup i was attacked at the semi-final by italian fans looking for english as that was a badge of honour for them.i'm a devout coward who has run from any trouble.i remember coming into rotterdam railway station in 2000 and seeing the fear on peoples faces hearing england fans singing.

if you go to the european hotspots this summer then who will be the worst behaved there,us.we do have a history and dr p is right to say we have brought it on ourselves.

Never said they are not football fans. They are morons though. My point was that someone like myself (who has no intention of hitting other people because of the colour of their football top or where they are from etc) and others of similar ilk do not deserve to get hit, bottled, abused or whatever just because of the actions of other people. You cannot dispute that!

as an old fart who's been following footie abroad from 1980-present times what you have to realise is that for fans abroad the biggest thing for them is to fight the english,it's the citadel for them.if you you look at hooligans abroad, they display the union jack as it's the emblem of hooliganism.as dr p has said,we've brought it on ourselves.ask sevilla fans after the final against the plop.

don't buy that. I see hooligans as separate people to the everyday people. There are people getting caught up in stuff that don't deserve to be. Those who want to fight then to a degree, fine. But those who don't it's bloody disgusting. So "we" haven't got ourselves to blame. You're not at fault for the actions of other people.

England fans getting attacked but that obviously has absolutely nothing to with the violence they've participated in of late and that fantastic reputation they have cultivated over the years, nothing to do with it. It's called karma.

Problem with that is there are bound to be people there for the first time following England. There will be a lot of people there who have no intention of being violent or ever cause trouble but what do you do if you're attacked? You have to defend yourself. I think this situation applies to fans from all countries. Minorities are spoiling it and attacking people who don't want trouble too.

I just come to the thread to post that.

You must be watching BBC1 too. I was shocked he had no club and Googled to check. Seasoned player in the Championship with a bit of grit about him. Things we are definitely lacking.

Looks like a warzone doesn't it.

Clearly it's just a minority of England fans, a few hundred I guess. There will probably be over 20,000 in the stadium later.

What happened to the British police who were supposed to be helping? They should be rounding up these embarrassments and shipping them home.

It's always a minority from any country I suppose. The issue I see is that people not looking for trouble are being attacked and then they have to defend themselves. The police from each nation should stay close to where the fans are gathering and then the French police could spread out and attend where needed. With that in place I'd think a lot of the trouble would be prevented. Someone is going to get killed out there and it could be someone caught up in it who really doesn't want to fight. All over football as well. Morons!

  7. Not a priority position RB as we have ok players for there, however I think Gunter would be an upgrade on Hutton. 26 years old plays for Reading. Obviously going to be loads of links now based on who we say playing at the Euros but I like his attitude and commitment - not missed a Wales game for 3 years!

Buy the orange properties mate, always the orange ones....

Useless fact of the day - the orange properties are most likely to be landed on because of how close they are to Jail. There are several cards and also a dedicated square that send you to jail. When a player eventually gets out rolling a 6, 8 or 9 are quite good odds. So there - get all the oranges with hotels and you should win!

I was talking in general from personal experience of seeing the inner workings of a football club. I was not talking about specific people as I'm not qualified to comment not knowing the exact details. I gave an OPINION on why someone may have left.

Then you shouldn't hint at people being crap at their jobs as the reason they've left. It's pretty clear - club goes down, loses income and has to make cutbacks when the future is uncertain. It's nothing to do with any of their abilities!!! If it was they'd have been released or fired during our Premier League era.

In my job I'm surrounded by people who are well liked and/or been at the club for an age, yet a high proportion are shit at their jobs, inefficient and are actually holding the club back. It's not particularly nice when someone loses their job but equally clubs are a business and like any business the weak and the shit need to be removed without any hint of remorse. It's cold facts. Relegation has afforded us the opportunity to move out the dead wood from the top down and start afresh.

So you're saying someone like Lorna or Jack Woodward held the club back in a sense? Please. They worked tirelessly for Villa and added a lot of value - AVTV bought income and generated exposure. Lorna is very talented speaking 3 or 4 languages and helped with players, managers and making sure the engine ran. Clubs that are at the top have these kinds of people employed so they do add value. It is just very sad that they lose out thanks to other people.

I think his fitness will keep him here for at least 6 months. very good player though and as said before he was best thing we had for Gestede who thrived on his deliveries (think he had 3 assists for him before his injury)

I agree with this. He can come back from injury here and we don't need to sell so long as Xia passes everything. We could have a very solid squad and a big shot at promotion - if we can bounce straight back then we have a chance of keeping him.
