  1. Iraqgoals is horrible to watch, freezes for 30 seconds at a time. Seems to be an exciting game, switching from end to end.
  2. Guzan and Cuellar were excellent. NRC and Sidwell can play together which is a good plus coming out of this competition. Worried about our mounting injuries and Heskey's suspension though. Hopefully we can appeal some of the cards from the game tonight, the referee was abysmal.
  3. With the number of injuries we have we might have to use it against the other Wigan.
  4. What a terrible decision, the referee is so weak.
  5. Yes, Heskey was sent off for having a bigger bottom than Hulk. Not allowed apparently.
  6. Ref is very weak, bowing to pressure from the Wigan, sorry, Porto bench.
  7. I'm ITK, the Porto player said "all those guys on Villa Talk reckon you're a donkey"
  8. What Heskey did wasn't very clever but a sending off is harsh. The dive from the Porto player was even worse though, the cheat.
  9. Cuellar looks great. Albrighton's being marshalled better second half. Not happy with Carew's giving the ball away all the time.
  10. Looks an impressive performance from what I've seen thus far. The Porto players are getting some blinking soft fouls though, very annoying.
  11. Excellent post and in complete agreement. The business of competing in the Premier League gets harder every year, yet we've managed to improve consistently over MON's tenure with the club. Nobody is perfect, everybody can improve but we have a lot more to thank Martin for than we do criticise him over.
  12. It is the 19th of June. All that has happened to our club is that a player who has wanted to leave for the past 12 months has finally left, and for an excellent fee. There are no grounds to panic. No grounds for the anxiety that is manifest in this article. It is just a slow news period and we are feeling a bit left out of the few big money signings, or potential signings, that the "big four" and their counterparts in Europe are making. MON and Lerner will deliver, all is well.
  13. 5th or 6th is acceptable, a trophy would be fabulous. Finishing in the top four would require a lot of things to go our way. To be honest I can't see them being broken up consistently until UEFA takes action -- either by way of limiting foreign players, squad sizes or debt limits. Or a combination of any of those controls. They have just had too much money, too much success, over a long period of time and have squads way better than any other club in the league. If teams like Real Madrid and Juventus can't compete with them, how are the likes of Villa supposed to?
  14. But none of those play for Villa. Keep up please! That is you, personally, and not your club
  15. It may be a trifle trite, but I would say the player I prefer is the one who wants to be at the Villa.
  16. Thank you for the positive article. It is a breath of fresh air! In a world of media hysteria one shouldn't be surprised at the negativity that can surround a club about to finish in the top six in consecutive seasons for only the second time since the second World War. But we have to hope the people at the top retain some proper perspective.
  17. General, just wanted to commend the people at Villa Events for the job they did last night at the End of Season Awards. I've never been to one before but would very happily go again. Even if some of our younger squad members are very shy, they are all very professional in their attitude and demeanor and deserve a lot of credit as well. It can't be easy being descended on by a million punters as you come out of the toilet By the way, could you please insist that Sally in Hospitality wears the same dress at every home game from now on. Attendances will soar
  18. Well, Tony Adams was at our last home game *wink wink*
  19. Barry is a genuinely classy player, one of the best central midfielders in the league. But no player is irreplaceable. If he wants to go then fine, he has paid his dues and been an excellent servant to the club. Thanks and so long Gareth, thanks for the memories.
  20. Platini & co seem certain to push through the changes to the number of English players in English teams so there could well be more shakeups to come in future seasons. All the top four have plenty of foreign players, it really could effect them hugely. So cheer up Rev
  21. 6th place would be a continued level of success, anything above that would be an improvement. I do think Arsenal are strong favourites to finish 4th but if we can improve our home form and pick up some wins away we can keep them under pressure. And those Arsenal boys really don't like pressure. Unfortunately for us I don't think our squad has the experience or years to cope with it either, though, so perhaps Arsenal being clear favourites and us being underdogs will help us.
