  1. Really? Why do you think that? I'm glad I've touched a nerve. It's made you fall into the trap of losing a foundation of argument for a glib response. That's what you're all about trying to do isnt it. The most hate thats been shown in this thread has all been coming from you. And I'm the one following evil.
  2. Long as its not the same way you keep chairs warn ;-)
  3. I think you clearly havent actually read the Bible Chindie. TO then make judgements on what it does and doesnt encourage, is a bit out of your depth. And if you have, you werent paying enough attention.
  4. You're saying if I live my life by the New Testament I'm doing evil? You're admiting such a thing as "evil" exists???? I'm saying that religion is an evil. It encourages idiocy, and fear, controls people, and so on. I'm afraid thats no good thing to my mind. It is an evil, imo. Evil isn't a religious thing I'm sorry to tell you. It simply means, to me, something particularly abhorrent. You could say that, or you could also say it encourages love, kindness, regard for others. What part of the New Testament encourages idiocy (and no, the existance of a god doesnt count), what's wrong with fear? What's wrong with some sort of control? Everything in the New Testament is there fore our benefit. Some of it people dont like, but its still there for their benefit. Rules need to be in place, fear isnt always a negative emotion.
  5. He's using it in the sense that its some sort of force behind religion though.

  7. Surely if you believe in something not to exist, you could aswel be ruling out the possibility of it existing? Therefore would it not mean both types of people, the people who rule out the possibility and the people that dont? If I go back and edit the post with "some atheists (the ones that rule out a possibility of there being a God) are idiots", would that suffice?
  8. Well it depends what soruce you get the meaning of atheism from does it not? Ive been doing a bit of looking, and the term "belief that there is no god" keeps popping up. It's a bit of silly nit picking imo.
  9. Yes, that's exactly what I'm feeling. Dude I feel like you're in my head!
  10. Exactly the answer I was getting at. You've just broken your own premise that everything requires a designer, meaning the doesn't require one by your own standards. Science is not making the claim that everything requires a designer. Science is saying "we haven't found the answer to that question yet". And as for your question on what started life, read up on abiogenesis. Not if that premesis is that only things that havent always been they way they are must have been designed to be that way. Science is making the claim that it does not know what we all came from. If we came from something, and science finds out what that thing is, then that only creates another question. The only answer that would leave no questions left, would be nothing happened to nothing and created everything. Anyway, what was the topic again? No amount of special pleading will fix the contradiction in your premise. All things require a designer except God doesn't follow God. Pleading? What?
  11. You mean Stephen Hawkings the agnostic? The man who hasnt ruled out the possibility of there being a God? That bloke? Everyone is agnostic, unless you're an idiot. So all athiests are idiots. Least we agree on something!

  13. They dont exist in human history, and that's all that matters for now 8)

  15. New research shows that microorganisms could have survived a journey from Mars to Earth. so maybe it came from Mars? or another world somewhere Err, think you didnt understand the question

  17. When that view is at the rejection of concepts that have been proven, it's entirely ignorant. Give me something and I'll tell you wither or not I reject it. Afaik, ive never flat out rejected anything thats ever ben proven by science. Evolution. So did current models of cars just pop up from nowhere, or has there been an inteligent proccess of design resulting in the current day cars that's been going on for over 100 years? There are millions of christians who believe in evolution, I'm one of them. Who designed God? How did life/mass get here?

  20. You say Lib Dems... but they really have no chance of winning!
  21. Some people would argue that weeds are beautifull :winkold:
  22. Hmm, I thought you'd be above making the assumption that all insults offend. Heres some education for you. They dont.
  23. Well Chindie, you'll have to find someone else to start throwing around insults to. I'm sure JulieB with hang about a bit more to be insulted by someone that's never met and knows little about her.
