Hopefully he can show benteke how to rough up defenders

Blimey, it wasn't so long ago he was being labelled as the " Beast"

reputations don't last long, do they?

I see the point dakid007 was trying to make here, yes Benteke is a beast and does rough up defenders, however look at the amount of free-kicks he concedes in doing so, Holt on the other hand has a lot more nous about him and you will see time and time again that although he is often dishing it out to defenders he seems to get a lot of decisions, definitely something Benteke could learn from him.

  2. Sorry to bump this up as no transfer news but notice Ben Foster might be out for a while after his injury at the weekend, maybe Given on loan to WBA until January might be an option?

Don't see it myself as they've a perfectly able back up in Myhill.

Myhill is garbage, most Albion fans that i know would rather see Daniels start while Foster is out.

I'll accept your opinion but you're wrong, very decent back up IMO :-) and baggies fans are a little deluded.

  4. I've always been very critical of Delph and never much rated him but he has improved dramatically since Christmas and seems to be continuing to do so.

Same here.  Saying that, he was mostly rubbish in the first half, but then was excellent after the break.  If he can improve his conistency and decision making he'll be OK.

To be honest with you I still mostly see him run into people, over run it or make a missed pass. However maybe Im just catching those standout errors, but I genuinely always get annoyed when he gets the ball as I usually allow him to F#ck up flowing moves completely.

He misplaced 6 passes and was dispossessed a total of zero times on Saturday.

This is what I'm talking about. KEA had it over him in every area yet there seems to be such a cult of Delph that he just misses scoring and he's some people's MotM???

You either didn't watch the match or don't quite understand the game, Delph was the best player on the pitch by a long way (I lie gabby came close) the main player that looked to make things happen and drive us on, a few mistakes can be excused for this approach though on Saturday this wasn't really a factor unless you include his near miss. The kid picked everything up in all areas of the pitch and was neat and tidy distributing things, not sue what he has done to offend you.

  5. I cannot see Lambert changing our 4 3 3 for this, didn't we go 4 2 4 at old trafford recently ? On saturday's form I would drop Weimann for clark and bring in okora

alongside vlarr to go 4 4 2 but am 100 % behind whatever he see's fit to try.

Although we have had some thrashings of late we don't have a bad record against them with an entertaining 4 4 draw not so long ago and under mcliesh did we not

    win 1 3 ?

Would really love to get a result here and make up for the 8 0 from last year - although the score didn't flatter chelski that much ! Guzan seems to command his goal

well and let's hope our defense is ready for a battle  !!! bring it on

Confused by this?! You'd drop Weimann and play Clark where exactly?! Especially as you're bringing in okora (Okore) alongside Vlaar?! Anyway same team that played the majority of Saturday for me and I fancy 2-2

  6.

we really should've just offered the 5 year deal to Friedel instead of giving him just the 3 and thinking he'd be ready to retire once that was up.

You would have been happy with a 45 year old keeper? ....Further more you would have been happy IF MCLEISH was happy with a 45 year old keeper?

I think what he was trying to say was we should have offered Friedel the 5 year deal at the time he initially signed, therefore it would now be expired. All very speculative however!

  7. The Brigada-bunch sit in Lower Holte (I think), just below where I sit in Upper Holte. Tbf, they do start off quite a few chants and keep the atmosphere going when others have gone quiet.

Other than the photos on the internet of them wearing masks, making them look like a group of prats out for a fight, I've never heard of any trouble from them. It's usually banners, songs and generally supporting the team.

I sit right in where 'the brigada' sit, they're a pain in the arse to be honest and purely self publicising and a prime example of the 'better fan' culture, they're more concerned in themselves rather than supporting the team. That said not so sure on the political argument against them!

I've just been watching Sky Sports and it said the opening Wolves game is on the weekend of the 3/4th of August, i think i'm right in saying we kick off 2 weeks later than that? I could be wrong but as we're playing a friendly against Malaga at home on the 10th of August i can't imagine i am!

Have they officially announced the Wolves fistures then? Their website says, from 9am tomorrow...

Unless i've completely confused myself, 6 matches from the opening weekend have been announced a day early, something to do with a 125 year anniversary or something. Wolves play Preston away first game of the season.

Ah that's fair enough then, so everything else will be as usual tomorrow morning, cheers for clarifying.

  10. Sort Benteke out first, then decide on bent. I wpuldnt want to start the season with the our front line minus Benteke, Bent would be worth far more to us than 6m in those circumstances.

Plus with more service coming from the midfield/ defense our game plan may change from lumping it up the field from Guzan to Benteke.

Because we really do just play the 'lump it to Benteke' way don't we?!

Well 2 months from 9 suggests a minority! Fair play though for making good use of it ;)

Actually, for a couple of months of the season, all we seemed to do was play a diagonal ball to an offside and isolated Benteke. Me and my mate made a drinking game out of it. Got absolutely **** smashed!

  12. Don't want to worry anyone but Brad moved out of his mailbox apartment today.......

    Maybe he's bought a house?

Nah just moved in to a bigger appt in city centre actually!

  13. Wigan away information: There are no designated home and away pubs. Most popular with away fans are The Red Robin & Marquee Bar.Both of those are close to the stadium.

In the town centre there is the Wetherspoons Moon under the Water or Camra pub The Anvil. Both are located close to the train station. There is lots of parking available at the stadium £5 per car, £10 per minibus, £20 coach.

    What's everyones pub plan then?..

    All of them.....

  14. Wigan West Gate?

    Is it an away pub?

If it's the one I'm thinking of it's called 'The Venue' as soon as you come out of Wigan North Western it's diagonally opposite to the right...not a designated away pub but, tends to catch the away fans as soon as they get off the train.

  15. I agree about Gardner.

Bannan might request a transfer to get first XI football but we're not going to boot him out the door as if he has been a failure not a success in many respects.

He has been hugely valuable for us this season. Totally under-rated, totally unappreciated by a certain sections of Villa fans. On possibly the lowest wage in the squad, Bannan has contributed toward 25 out 37 points gained this season.

Our survival has largely rested on Bannan's shoulders.

That's not going to go unnoticed.

As AstonMartin says if not all, certainly the penultimate line of this is deluded at best, go to bed Barry you might sneak into the squad tomorrow.

  16. Plenty of blame being thrown about here, but anyone that's consistently followed the club away this season coupled with a season ticket has already easily secured their tickets for this match, people need to stop feeling so hard done by, talk about jumping on a bandwagon or what.
