  1. Funny how no one was around defending McLeish when we got defeated by Swansea. But when he gets a victory you all come out of the woodwork.

It should be interesting how many of you disappear again if we get a bad result against QPR.

What about the opinion that people can support him, but in the instance of say a Spurs or Swansea then we can sit back and say 'hang on no, that performance can't be defended'. Surely just saying nothing in these instances means we're not jumping on to the 'bandwagon' of anti-Mcleish posters?

Just because there may be people who do support him it doesn't mean this has to be blind support and mean we are happy with every single aspect of what he does.

  2. Think I'll go to this one, got the away day bug after the Wolves game!

Trains are surprisingly quick from New street....1 hr 15 minutes.

How far is the ground from the station? Could I make it back in time for a 5 30pm return journey?

15-20 minute walk from the ground, so assuming you get straight out shouldn't have a problme with that train...

  3. Am I alone in thinking we might as well hold on to him now?

Most probably yes you are !

Tell me the alternative, remembering our much vaunted managers tactical ability.

Bent out, Carroll in....I'm actually serious here!

  4. He got booed as he walked towards the tunnel at both half-time and full-time by a section of the crowd. Inbetween standing ovations for the players, I might add.

By about a dozen retards, I might add. Though that i suppose does count as a section.

Sorry, for me it is probably the retards that are not booing! I am not one to boo ordinarily but I would make an exception for Eck. Not because I dislike him as a man but because I think he is part of the cancer that is currently consuming our club and, if no-one makes their views on this obvious, how will RL get the message that Eck is just not wanted.

I must be a retard then :? I saw a decent performance last night, well better team anyway, and likewise vs Arsenal, yet people are still picking negatives from 3/4 games ago. I'm a firm believer in you're only as good as your last game (performance included), roll on Saturday!

  5. Who is there that can afford him and would want him?

Newcastle with the money from Carroll

Liverpool as a replacement for Carroll, they may even offer a swap plus cashQPR as you said

Arsenal to end their near total dependence upon RVP

All could afford him and all I think would want him. Obviously it remains to be seen if they do or if he would return their interest in him but there are certainly teams out there that would want him and who can afford him.

    Yes please.

  6. So Blackburn manages to get something from Liverpool (away) and Wolves gets something from Arsenal (away).

We on the other hand just roll over and hand both of these top 6 teams 3 points (at home) when it's certainly possible to beat them.

Fans seem to be forgetting who we are. We're not SHA btw. Don't accept this level of dross from this incompetent manager.

I know it might suit an argument but did we roll over against Arsenal?

  7. First half was as good performance as we've given in the last 15 months, 0-2 flattered Bolton. Warnock motm for me, probably his best game for us to date.

Loving the I 'what did mcleish say to them at half time' brigade, who knows but I wonder what he said to them before kick off cos that was working...

  8. gonna try find wetherspoons in wigan

We're on the 10.20 from New St, in response to the above though the Wetherspoons is straight up the main road as you come out of the train station, about 400 yards. Additioanlly before you even get to Wetherspoons there are about 4/5 other (decent) pubs on the way up.

  9. I've supported Villa since the sixties, so I've seen the highs and lows and I'm comfortable with Randy's ownership of AVFC. I like Randy and I think McLeish is a decent guy and a reasonable manager. I also think that Villa are just about where we should be in the Premiership.

I still get excited on match day, and always hope for the best, but not knowing whether we are going to win lose or draw is part of that excitement.

Supporting Villa positively should not be a hanging offence! Excuse me if I don't start slagging off a decent guy, who has made a considerable investment in the club I love.

nobody is being critical of you for being happy with our lot

Which isnt true either, happy clappy brigade, head in sand, mediocrity those are just some off the top my head that are critical of his type of view.

Ironic that you also mention that he shouldnt belittle others views when you open up with the blimey not sure where to start gambit then tell him his statement is utter rubbish when in effect again its just his opinion but yet thats ok to belittle?

Wooooah you're in trouble the mighty Trentvilla cannot be questioned! Straight red card.

  10. For anyone travelling from Birmingham looking to purchase advance tickets through the trainline here's a bit of advice to possibly make you a bit of a saving (subject to availability of course)

For advance fares to Horwich Parkway the site will automatically select your route to be via Manchester/Stockport - currently the cheapest fares are £14 outward, £12 return and there are only limited travel times for these.

The alternative I'd suggest looking at is Birmingham to Wigan - currently several times available at £7 each way. Then Wigan to Horwich on a £3.40 day return which will save about £9 in total.....as stated these are subject to availability so don't shoot the messenger!

  11. I know it is old, but just because it is my all time favourite thing to laugh at them for and you never know some might not have seen it I will post it again. It doesn't matter how many times I read it I laugh every time.

WHOOPS! You'll never believe this one - the 2007 Official Club Diary produced for Birmingham City FC has been printed with an astonishing list of errors.

Emblazoned on the honours page at the front of the diary are claims that Blues won the European Cup in 1982, the European Super Cup, a total of seven FA Cup trophies and five League Cup victories!

The cup glories, of course, belong to arch-rivals Aston Villa, but somehow the information has been processed as Blues' own.

Today, staff at Birmingham City admitted there had been a "massive cock-up" and appeared to blame the printers for the mistake.

Meanwhile, although Kent-based Castelli Diaries admitted there had been a huge blunder, they claimed that they only printed information supplied by the club.

The club and printer are now understood to be in heated discussions as to why proofs were not checked and the errors avoided.

Although Blues said most diaries had successfully been recalled after the gaffe was spotted, they confirmed that a number of copies were still in circulation.

Fans who received the black A4 diaries, embossed with Blues' official crest, said that although the error was "embarrassing" they could see the funny side.

Blues fan Wayne Benton contacted the Birmingham Mail after his company was sent one of the complimentary desk diaries.

Wayne, a construction recruitment consultant at city centre-based Thorn-Baker, said: "I was flicking through the diary and came to a page headed Club records.

"I could not believe it - there was Blues having won the European Cup, the Super Cup, seven FA Cups and five League Cups. There was even mention of the three FA Youth Cup victories we never had!"

Wayne, aged 29, from Chelmsley Wood, added: "The diary was sent as a gift by Birmingham City along with an invitation to advertise next year.

"It was a shock to see the honours and a bit embarrassing because as long as I have been watching Blues they have never been that successful, although we all hope that will change.

"But I think every one can see the funny side, although I have had some stick off Villa fans in the office."

Blues fan Neil Woodward, a plasterer from Castle Bromwich, said: "I wish we could swap honours with Villa! But seriously, this is obviously a printing error."

A Blues club spokesman said: "Luckily we caught this early and were able to claw back the majority of the diaries before they went out, however some still got through.

"We have been dealing with the company who printed them for a number of years and on this occasion we were not sent any proofs before the diaries were printed.

"This is a massive cock-up and we are currently looking at cancelling the contract with the company in future."

A spokeswoman for Kent-based Castelli Diaries said the diaries were a standard issue with companies producing their own information to run on the pages towards the front of the book, together with advertisements from local firms.

She said: "We would have taken the information for these 'tipping pages' as we call them from information supplied to us by the company who is commissioning the diary - in this case Birmingham City."

It is thought all of the other information is correct, including fixture details, club information and the squad, as well as standard diary pages.

    Evening Mail 2007

May have seen it before but jogging my memory this time. And highlighting new gems such as those highlighted....

  12. Just heard from a reliable source that Liverpool HAVE come back with an improved offer and we HAVE accepted it. Downing will be talking to them today or tomorrow.

Will post more if i hear anything.

And sorry will be off line for the next hour or so as still at work.

    Good riddance i say!

Gutted if this is true. Cant believe Villa and its fans give up that easily.

Just see Darren Bent sat in the changing room now saying WTF??

In fairness, what can we the fans do about this?

Maybe fans could protest about the proposed sale, that kind of stuff tends to work...!

  13. This really is getting out of hand. McCleish has said unless we get a stupid offer SD will NOT be sold.

    I don't think £20M is a stupid offer... £25-30M maybe but not £20M

First of all we've accepted a new bid ITK.... now the rumour is that LFC are preparing a new bid.

In the meantime Downing is being slated on here for comments he made whilst on England duty before even we signed McCleish.

Do we have any ITK, that Downing is that keen to move? Has be put in a transfer request? If so why not??!!!

Come on Julie, surely it's better to read between the lines and make our own conclusions up!!!

  14. WHICH **** MORONS DID ANTI MCLEASH GRAFFITI UP BODYMOOR HEATH!!

SHAME ON YOU! SHAME ON YOU!!!

TODAY YOU BROUGHT MORE SHAME ON OUR CLUB AND ALL OF US FANS!!

THAT PLACE IS OURS! ITS WHERE OUR PLAYERS GO!! ITS WHAT OUR PLAYERS FIRST SEE! IT MAKES THEM THINK "WHY THE HELL DO WE WANT TO BE HERE!" YOU CAN SHOVE YOUR PROTEST! I DONT WANT AM BUT THIS IS SHAMEFUL!!!!!!!!!!

Agreed - unfortunately, this is the mentality of most on the "protesters"

Agreed with both of the above, can see this 'protest' tonight being embarrassing, whilst i'm sure there'll be a majority with the right intentions you just know that the retard minority will also be in attendance.
