Is he more effective than ramsey and even mcginn no, but if you want to start sanson every game moving forward then by all means dream and it shall be given 🙂. Believe me when i say when a player gets a goal it can mask their overall performance fans act with too much emotion theres a thin line between played well and played rubbish you should know that! … on twitter someone posted sanson played very well , i can tell you the comments below if not all suggest what i am trying to explain to you.

Yes he played better than most of the team but it was not that good of a performance to be raving about so everyone needs to calm down about it, id love for sanson to turn into messi for us or even a silva but only a fool would keep hoping that based on two years at this club.

This paragraph reads like Liam Neeson got his daughter stolen.

We might need more goals, but that doesn't change the fact that we could also do with a box-to-box midfielder this window or the next, we can sign both a midfielder and strengthen the attack. Besides box-to-box midfielders can often be goal scorers, as is the case with Ramsey, and might be a quality we're looking for in any addtions we add to that area, Conor Gallagher might be a good option.

We’ve scored 20 goals in 18 matches in the Prem.

But we’ve scored 9 goals in 5 games under Emery.

Mings is not at the level to be playing international football.

He has a mistake in him, i.e the missed header against Chelsea  and the own goal against Fulham.

I would go as far as saying the defenders that missed out on making the squad are better than him, Tomori, Smalling ect.

Unfortunately Tyrone Mings is not an International player.

Hrmm well this is super peculiar then..

  4. We’re actually spreading the pitch and moving the ball with pace. It’s not complicated and we’re not doing it perfectly but it’s amazing what some speed on the ball does.

Also haven’t seen 2 players standing in the same 5m radius too often which is a f****** relief. We actually have shape.

Bit of bounce for sure due to SG departure but essentially yes this is simply it. Whatever SG was trying to do was too complicated and over thought backed up by total stubborness.

I feel like complicated gives too much credit, chaotic maybe

He’s right though. How long ago was Burnley’s great European adventure? And how many times has he been able to build on that?

I’m not saying Dyche is the answer here, but the guy engineered a European place with a team built out of some rusty sheet metal lying around in the PL floor.

To imply the consideration of him is ‘insane’ is, well, insane.

    A few differences:

    - Amorim have showed that he understand tactics. He actually can manage a football team.
    - He won the league, where there is a two horse race, with a third horse.
    - The League in Portugal is one of the top league in Europe, miles better than the Scottish league.
    - Sporting payed €10mill for him, after he had been in charge of Braga for a few months. That is what I would call taking a risk, but it have payed of massively for them.
    - He have won matches in the Champions League.

I accept your 1st and 3rd points - but as much as Sporting was in a dry spell, I’d say they’re more like the 3rd horse in a 2.5 horse race. Situation in Portugal is more comparable to Spain with Sporting being Athletico.

There will always be risk, just a young manager with no experience in any of the top 5 leagues - I don’t know if that’s a risk we can afford.

People are insane for even suggesting him.

I don’t understand the Dyche hate? I’m not saying he’s a good fit, but he’s the only person in the running outside Poch and Tuchel who’ve taken a PL team to Europe.

I get Burnley were one dimensional, but what made them successful if not the manager? Certainly wasn’t a glut of financial investment and star players.

Steven has had 2 windows. If he was desperate for a left winger he could have purchased one by now. Ramsey ended up on the wing out of desperation. It's not even where he should be playing. Ramsey is our biggest goal threat from midfield. He should be the furthest advanced midfielder, in and around the box. Out on the wing you nullify his greatest skill.

For me, this all looks to similar. Steven just throwing things against wall and waiting to see what magically works out. More square pegs in round holes for me. As long as he keeps doing that then this squad will continue to underachieve.

I actually reckon Ramsey has a lot of Grealish traits (not as good at this stage).

LW is where he belongs imo

Whilst I don’t think McGinn should be captain the rational of taking it off Mings was so he can concentrate on his game. So far he has played very well with no errors. So surely it’s a good move so far ?

That’s a really good point - couldn’t agree more as this was always the benefit of taking it away from him.

Really Martinez should be captain imo

Dropping McGinn would really help us…

I wonder… would Ramsey be the right fit for LW?

    Bailey RW…

Buendia/Coutinho ahead of the double pivot?

    Luiz has to play…

This - by no means am I saying Ramsey is as good, but his strengths are quite comparable to Grealish who thrived off LW.

Surely has to be a 4-2-3-1 now - Luiz and Kamara seem capable enough in the 2 with those LW and RW roles pushing back hard defensively. The 4-2-1-2-1 Gerrard played yesterday basically seemed to be a 4-2-3-1 with extra steps.

£30m if he’s still got it at that point. But £20m if wages are going to be above £100m.  Depends on his age at that point, and how long he has left on his Man City contract.  He could just wind down his Man City contract and then come to us for free when he’s 29?

Agree £30 million would be about the mark if he’s still capable and wages are reduced.

He’ll be 27 in a few daysand signed a 6 year deal IIRC which would take him through to about 31/32.

  13. I think he’ll be back at some point.

The whole thing is a horrid commentary on the commercialisation and discrepancy in financial fairness across the league.

Curious, let’s say Jack wins a CL and a few more PL trophies this year and next.

How much would you give to get him? Assuming wages were re negged as that seems like the main sticking point at this stage.

Our squad lacks certain attributes in key areas. We have a midfield who can't retain possession or dispossess the opposition, lack of pace in forward areas and a lack of cover at CB and midfield (Sanson & Nakamba sent to the bomb squad and chuck sold to Chelsea). You could also argue that we lack a striker who can link up with the players behind him.

Sure but that’s all squads in different ways.

Question still stands, how many other squads would you prefer?

  15. 4 hours ago, DCJonah said:

    Yes.

You sack Dean Smith because you want better. You talk about Europe and the Hugh ambition the club has.

Yet this summer has not made the squad miles stronger than last year.

I don’t think Talent is the issue.

Honestly who’s squad would you prefer over ours?

Arsenal, Man City, Man United, Tottenham, Chelsea, Liverpool, West Ham?

Maybe Crystal Palace and Newcastle United?

Who else? Tactics go a long way.

I’d love him to play this…

    ——————Watkins——————
    Coutinho———————Bailey
    ——————Ramsey——————
    ————Luiz———Kamara———
    —————————————————-
    Digne—Mings—Chambers—Cash

Id tell the fullbacks that only one can go forward and must be ready to defend first and foremost. Luiz and Kamara would hold and not do much attacking at all. They’d also shift over to cover any attacking fullback. Buendia to come on after 55mins to add impetus and/or challenge one of the two for a starting place.

We need to go back to basics. Be more compact and not allow teams to run through us and get in down the channels. The current system with marauding full backs and not playing anybody in the middle of the pitch is suicide. McGinn absolutely has to be dropped.

Agreed - would go Buendia on the right and Ings up top tho.

Has Ollie really shown anything this year? Don’t see him pressing defences as much as his first season.

Nah, I've stuck up for Stevie since his appointment, cos that's what you do with a manager. If it turns out he's rubbish, I'll support the new manager, because that's what you do (clue is in the word supporter). I'm not taking any 'I told you so' shit from people who wrote him off before a ball was kicked, no chance. Legitimate concerns leading to a withdrawal of support based on results, sure, but I'm not abiding any guff from those who had a premeditated agenda. They can do one.

I don’t really get this - surely your first allegiance is to the club not the manager? Club should sit above any individual including the owners.

Also why do people always say this about managers but less so about players and owners?

At the end of the day, we can hope things change and I think we’d all be delighted if they did - but ultimately we all want what’s best for the club and if that means no SG than we need to be able to be honest about that otherwise what’s the point.
