  1. Some early ratings and all I can say is "WHAT!?" Maybe I missed some things during the game but the first two seem insulting?

    From the Independent:

    Tyrone Mings - 6 out of 10

Solid enough but on borrowed time with the return of Harry Maguire, whose ability to carry the ball up the pitch will be welcomed with open arms.

    NBC Sports:

Tyrone Mings: 6 – Did okay, but Adams and Dykes gave him some problems.

SkySports seem to have their heads on right:

    Tyrone Mings - 8

Scotland's direct style may well have played to his strengths, but that shouldn't detract from his excellence against the visitors' aerial threat. One of the few England players to come out of the game with his reputation enhanced.

If we are not looking to buy that Swedish striker Alex Isak, then we need to take a long hard look at ourselves. That lad oozes class and quality - right up our street, and would suit the premiership down to the ground.
Fits the profile too, and couldnt be 'that' expensive surely... even with a good few games at the Euros?

I was just thinking the same thing. Had to look it up but Real Sociedad placed a £60 million release clause on him. BvB have a €30 million buy-back clause and Transfermarkt has his value sitting around $45 million. So we’d be breaking records again if we tried to sign him.

If we could get him for 20m and sell Wes for 12-14m then I’d do it, but sounds like Celtic are being bellends.

They're being bellends because of the idiotic decision they made when they signed him. A 50% sell-on clause for PSG is madness.

the way the media and Southgate are going along I would think Maguire is one of the greatest defenders ever. Its similar to the Van Dijk crap

    What's wrong with VVD?

It is funny. We just need someone on here with photoshop skills to mock up a pic of ESR in a Villa top, like they seem to do with Grealish in an Arsenal top for top trolling. Or we can all sign up to ESR Insta page and welcome him to Villa, again like Arsenal fans have been doing for the last xx amount of months with Grealish. 😂

Hopefully that performance will shut up the doubters. He ran that defence, not Man City’s Stones or Walker or At Madrid’s Trippier.

Only once voice was heard barking out commands.

he was being scapegoated before the tournament even started.

Don’t tell that to all the pundits. Every player ratings article I’ve seen says the same thing: “Stone was the heart of the defense and commanded brilliantly.”

    Good stuff.

Tyrone Mings has claimed England need to be more “streetwise” - but warned they cannot let the “dark arts” get out of hand.

Mings admitted he would have been sent off had VAR been in use when TV pictures showed he gave Austria’s Sasa Kalajdzic a forearm smash during their warm-up friendly.

But Mings does believe that England will have to be cute when playing other big nations during the Euros and get better at wind ups and time wasting.

Aston Villa defender Mings said: “Being streetwise is a huge part of the game. You look at other nations and they are masters at the dark arts – staying on the floor for longer than needed, delaying restarts.

Being streetwise is also sometimes what gets you over the edge because it winds up the opposition and breaks up their flow and their rhythm.

“Listen, everything is going to have to come together for us to win the tournament. There are other things that will be important as well.”

Mings was honest enough to admit on Kalajdzic that he could have been sent off had it been during a tournament because he would have been caught by VAR

But Mings says his forearm smash was “too aggressive” but just a tactic he often uses to block off forwards during games but says football has gone soft.

England defender Mings said: “I was not lucky, no, because I knew there wasn't VAR.

“But it wasn't, wasn't it, so we can go back through many different occasions in my career and you could say if there was VAR in that game, I would have got sent off

“I think there is definitely something to be said about... football is very soft these days, you cannot get away with much. And like you say, if there had have been VAR, absolutely I would have given away a penalty.

“As a defender, I have done that many times in my career. When a cross is about to come in, block the striker. That is not against the rules. But that one there was probably too aggressive.”

Triee to insert a link but as i have massivr thumbs i will have to explain instead

If you go to utube there is a vid called all strikers would like to receive passes from Emi Buendia.

Make sure you are careful opening it as it is pure porn.

Was trying to think who he reminds me of with his vision. Just dawned on me .

    Juan Roman Riquelme.

Watch one after the other. Because Buendia is small its easy to consider other stocky short Argentines but the reality is that he is Riquelme mk 2 in all but stature ... without the freekicks i admit . But with James Milner like workrate to compensate.

Winner winner chicken dinner. We have a true potential superstar  on our books now

    This one?

Give him time… he is quite renowned for being a quality player and been linked with big moves in the past…

Another one that Arsenal wanted but never completed.

He’s got some real talent. He just didn’t get much play before a knee injury knocked him out for the end of last season. No real time to acclimate himself to the PL. look at Bertie, it took awhile for him to fully get into the swing of things. A full, healthy, summer with the squad under his belt will do him wonders.

Not sure how anyone could have watched that game and thought he was poor, he wasn't brilliant but he didn't need to do anything brilliant because of what the oppositon offered in attack. Apart from an early mistake which you could say wasn't even his fault he played perfectly fine. It seems certain narratives surround him and some want to apply those narratives to performances no matter how he performs.

My sentiments exactly. Feel like SkySports giving him a 4 is a bit harsh considering they gave Sancho a 6 who I thought was pretty mediocre and nonexistent for much of his appearance.

Leeds fans. It takes some doing but congratulations on being the undisputed scummiest shithouses in football. The most embarrassing, classless, moronic and pathetic wastes of spunk to ever watch any sport.

    What?

The problem for Grealish is that Southgate has been playing him central midield, even when the likes of Sterling, Sancho and Rashford haven't been on the pitch, so doubt he's suddenly going to be chosen to play there when they do play and are available. So that means it becomes a question of whether he plays ahead of Mount as the main attacking midfielder, he should do but Mount gets talked about as if he has to be a guaranteed starter and Southgate will probably just go along with that.

I feel like today was an indication that Mount would get the start ahead of Grealish. Otherwise it could be Southgate just giving Grealish as much game time as possible to get back to 100% but I don't feel like Southgate is smart enough for a decision like that.

    Thanks very much.

So there's no chance Watkins could still be taken now? He played better than our strikers in the little time he had onthe field.

Southgate you ballzed it up man.

I think he's 3rd option behind JWP and Lingard. Southgate could always surprise us and pick Ollie but I highly doubt it.
