Neither watkins or benrahma were in the 24 man squad playing Derby in a friendly today......

Was just gonna say. But that only means that they're probably in talks with some club, not necessarily us.
And they're 99% gonna be transferred, so leaving them out of the squad is kinda expected.

  2. At the airport.

Bremen has flown home 6 hours ago, so it makes sense why he's at the airport.

    • The woman and children in umbrella should be his wife and son judging by the tag @belkiz_kera which is his wife
    • Why he's still at the airport by now is unknown (assuming that the flight from Austria took flight 6 hours ago)
    • It seems that his wife and son has flown over by a private jet?

Will also love to know which airport this is, if anyone's bothered enough to do the detective work.

Rumour was they offered him £50k/week which is absolutely obscene if true.

That'd make him the third highest earner in the team. I wonder what that dressing room would be like.

Are they doing a Fulham again?

Swear to God, if I don't wake up tomorrow to a proper update to this saga, I'm going to *checks notes* keep checking this thread as I have been doing for the past week.

Updates on news site are probably originated from this thread anyways

Attitude, for one. By all accounts, he's an absolute pro who gets his head down and works his arse off - haven't heard that about the other two.

I'd be happy with any of them tbf.

I'd also say that Watkins should be more likely to be a cultural fit judging by the fact that he worked under Smith. I think this is often overlooked and undervalued; and clearly Dean's trying to build a culture in the club.

That's one a hell of a bike ride they've been on considering they set off the other morning!

Rashica's fitness won't be an issue atleast.

Dunno if you're being sarcastic or not lol but just to clarify, I think they went onto another bike trip today.

The ones I can’t link are Targett, Heaton, Engels and Guilbert, although I was sure Engels had a link somewhere...

Heaton was with Chester in Man Utd Youth, Engels I believe was teammates with Wesley in Club Brugge for a season.

This threads just a bit of a laugh right? We all know it’s very unlikely we’re signing this player don’t we?

We can just change the thread title to "The Club" if he doesn't sign ultimately.

I want Jack to be the ultimate Villa fan. The one that sacrifices his own career for the greater good of the club that runs through his bloodline. Being that one club man that dedicates all his powers in establishing the establishment back to one on a solid foundation to compete back at the top end by the time your career is over.

You may not necessarily win anything, but you earn more than anyone else at the club whilst captaining and leading the push season in season out. Be involved with a big say behind the scenes which in itself can help attract a better calibre of player each season we progress. That sacrifice of not moving to a bigger club when you know you could have, and gaining legend status amongst your own people can be just as, if not more rewarding, on a character/self-satisfaction scale. Its rare in this day in age and a fantasy, but thats most fans hopes.

If say by the time his career ended we had become a regular top 6 club with a great squad of players, an attractive pull for the world talents of future years to come and join, with an exceptional academy and youth set up to boot; then he could retire and watch his club be successful as a fan; knowing he was a major part in making all that a possibility in the first place would have to be more rewarding than anything else ever could when his days as a footballer are done. Thats the ultimate fan, someone who can give up potential trophies and accolades he knows he can win elsewhere, to help his club become something they once were many moons ago.

I just feel with all the turmoil of the last decade, losing someone so influential at this stage could so easily trigger another decline if recruitment proves as difficult to those in charge as it has done in that decade. We stayed up by the skin of our teeth and things will look probably look precarious if he does choose to move on. He is so important to this club in every way imaginable. He is our identity and I want to watch him flourish and grow and in doing so nurturing this new AVFC. He is the swagger you always want being associated with your club. We can be great again, but we have to keep him and keep him happy.

So sorry Jack, you cant ever leave. Cheers bro 🙂

Also a wild idea - if Jack really stays for his whole career maybe we can loan him to a top club for one season where he can taste Champions League?

Does this now mean we can go play in a hugely profitable Asian preseason tournament next year instead of Bremen?

We can still get Bremen to play in the same tournament in Asia.

Just because somebody pointed it out on the Werder forum: Milot liked some pictures of RB Leipzigs victory over Atletico yesterday on the 433 instagram channel. Make of that what you will.

Someone please let Rashica know that we are the better team and we beat Leipzig 3-1 last summer.

Yes, I think you are correct but attracting that first top player is the hard part, I remember Man City doing it with Robinho

Wait, I thought Man City pulled it off by tricking Robinho into believing that he's signing with Chelsea?

Taylor is the only player that performed a significant role last season that I would be willing to lose.  Hogan, Baston, lansbury, and Jota barely played 500 minutes between them and can all be shipped. Taylor played over 1000 minutes and I'd be fine keeping him as a backup if we needed to prioritise other signings. Losing anyone else that played so much, with all the dross we need to remove, is just too much turnover for me.  Hopefully we're not in the position where we have to keep Taylor, but I won't be upset if we do.

I need to take my heart attack pills every time I see him being subbed on.

I agree I think he will get up to speed quicker absolutely. But it only takes one injury and we're shit out of luck..... again.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't this the same worry for most mid-table teams?
