F**k me, Thomas Franks got our number

How much is Gerrard on then? Cos if even if I am the shittest manager on the planet, if I'm Steven Gerrard there's no **** way I'm letting Jordan Henderson be paid more then me, no matter how much of a sound lad he is.
At the very least I'd be saying I'm getting you 700k a week, you pass 200k on to me la.

Although he only scored 1 goal for Levante last season there were some praise for his hold up play and pressing .
Ffs is got to 45 seconds before I said to myself what am I doing with my life and stopped watching.
Desperate.

Apparently he’s the fastest player in the PL
In the age of data and analytics, when you look at the top 4 players in that list it does seem like clubs are happy to pay obscene amounts based on a speed rating.

Wow.
And we used to get excited watching videos of Jores Okore recovery tackles.
I hope to god we never turn shit again.

Basically Chris Heck has come in, seen the new badge and said Boooooooorinnng.
In fairness the new badge was the safe choice, pretty bland. Obviously better than the previous monstrosity but i imagine we can do better and be a bit more dynamic/forward thinking even if it will rattle plenty of cages.

The club will continue to use the existing shield design around Villa Park and on our digital channels, as well as in other areas.
Aston Villa will monitor local, national and global reaction along with feedback to the use of both the crest and kit moniker as the 2023/24 campaign progresses.
Global reaction lol.
The only thing everyone unanimously agrees on is the old badge is sh*t.

Looks like this years theme is a celebration of Burnley's return to top flight football.

Good first game to sharpen the minds in pre-season.

We barely conceded a goal in the last 10 games yet i can recall him being at fault for two of them.
He did have a great season, having him stepping at left back when we only had Digne and at right back for Cash was massive for us.
But now we need a new right back, we already have two left backs. In the cold light of day its the right decision.

We're keeping the Christian Purslow went to Spain song though yeah?

Well that's took the light coating of gloss off that trophy.

It's only getting coverage because of the VAR policy of having the linesman keeping his flag down. Under the old rules no one would pick it up on it and it'd be villa nullified spurs who were absolutely shite.

It would have obviously been a board decision that Gerrard was gone if we lost to Fulham.
The Sawiris losing his head thing was him just wanting it announced there and then rather than in the morning because he couldn't take another hour of him being in charge. He probably sends a text to Wes at the 70 min mark saying "**** tomorrow morning, we are sacking the useless scouse basterd now" and Wes replys "yeah, ok Nas".

Look at Brighton... We weren't beating them anyway if they had something to play for! If Spurs mess up next week then it might all work in our favour as Brighton should be home and hosed for Europa with a win v southampton and might take the foot off the pedal on the last day.

At least Brighton won't have anything to play for when we play em last game

Conf league prize money
Qualified to Group Stage: €2,940,000
Match won in Group Stage: €500,000
Match drawn in Group Stage: €166,000
1st in Group Stage: €650,000
2nd in Group Stage: €325,000
Round of 16: €600,000
Quarter-final: €1,000,000
Semi-final: €2,000,000
Runner-up: €3,000,000
Champion: €5,000,000
So winning it, assuming you topped your group with 4 wins, two draws in the group gets you about EUR 15mill add additional gate receipts for 6 home games, say a EUR 1.5 million a game could be worth about about EUR 24 mill?EDIT : it actually pays quite well compared to the Europa league:
Europa League prize money
A victory in the group pays €630,000 and a draw €210,000.
Qualified to group stage: €3,630,000
Match won in group stage: €630,000
Match drawn in group stage: €210,000
1st in group stage: €1,100,000
2nd in group stage: €550,000
Round of 16: €1,200,000
Quarter-final: €1,800,000
Semi-final: €2,800,000
Runner-up: €4,600,000
Champion: €8,600,000
Rough math but I'd say winning the Europa league with a group win 3 wins, 2 draws, 1 loss in the group ( a lot harder to achieve) would get you maybe about EUR 23 mill so + same gate receipts = 32 mill + obviously champions league next season. When you consider only getting to the semis (which is a hell of an achievement) brings that down to 26.2mill you can see why from the clubs point of view the conf league is attractive.

I hate the conference league. It's been introduced as a chance to give clubs from smaller countries the chance to enjoy longer European campaigns, which is fine..but when they are putting finals in 20k stadiums like Albania last yr and Prague this year that alone makes it clear big clubs have no business being in it.
I have no problem with the concept of a Europa league for weaker nations but then when you have Roma v Feyenoord playing a final in a shed probably getting 7k fans each at best it's not fit for purpose. Ofc I know they want these big teams to prop things up and bring interest for tv etc.

The roids have absolutely torched his bonce in the last 6 months. Poor bastard.
Looking forward to seeing that long diagonal to Moreno on a regular basis. Wonderful stuff.

3 mins?

We are not convincing enough physically, time and time again away from home teams are able to get a way with multiple cynical fouls in the midfield without getting booked.
-
Hate when they book both players in that scenario likes its fair when it obviously penalises the defender more having to play on a yellow. Should be no yellow for both.
