Still clinging onto the hope that two 46 game campaigns in a row is too much for Terry so we've told him to have a proper rest over the summer and we'll pick you up in September/October...

Not sure about this one.
He can dribble, sure, but my impression of him has always been that he cant cross for shit, cant shoot (has about 10 attempts a game cutting in and sticking it in row z) and can't **** pass.
However , he won't be any worse than Adomah. At least he has the pace, trickery and 'threat' to hopefully create a bit of space and open things up for our better players to shine (i.e. Mcginn and Grealish) and, to be fair, when he gets the ball i'll definitely be on the edge of my seat, which I guess is what its all about at the end of the day. There's something about that those kind of players on the left wing when they pick the ball up in front of you in the Holte in the 2nd half and you immediately hear the slamming up seats of as everyone rises to their feet (never happens so much with the right side players for some reason).
Also, fair play to Bruce too for acknowledging the fact we severely lack pace and trying to correct it.

it's been emotional.

If he stays at villa and proceeds to play like a brat who's thrown his toys out of the pram then we'll know how much of a villa man he is and that he wanted the move all the time.
Crocodile tears after the hull game ? We'll see...
He ain't like that, trust me.

Dunno, I hear he dribbles more than he used to.
Yeah, but he doesn't penetrate the defence like the old days

If he stays (even if its just because we never got our asking price) what a legend he'll be come Saturday.

To put that in to context, Hourihane is only about 3 appearances behind him and has scored 12 goals in Villa colours.
Grealish is getting close to achieving his potential, much like Young, Barry and Milner before him, and he'll leave the second he can for better things. We ate making it easy by being in the Championship but I doubt it'd make much difference if we were also rans in the PL.
Comparing to Hourihane is doing exactly the opposite of putting it into context. If JG has the ball at the start of every meaningful possession attack he isn't going to have 15 goals and 15 assists a season because he isn't going to be bypassing the build up play to be there for the final pass or shot
Its pointless comparing JG to typical midfield players because he doesn't play as one. He is unique which is why this 20 odd million b**locks from Spurs pisses me off (and us considering letting him go pisses me off).
An example of another player whose assists and goals stats are meaningless in the context of his ability, Luka Modric one of the best and most influential players in the world. Last season - 63 games, 4 goals and 8 assists.

Sky should make grealish motm just so they can interview him

Winds me that half the spurs fans don't even want him and that Levy is just doing his usual noncing of a young player for a cut price. They don't even realise what they'd be getting.
I hope he has an absolute shocker tonight in front of the cameras and we win 1-0 . I want the whole of spurs twitter comparing him to David Bentley by 10pm.

This season can get to f**k if he leaves.

Woods has been player of the year for them for the past 2 years. We have to be paying upwards of 10 mill?
With FFP and the Woodburn rumour it doesn't bode well for us keeping Jack imo. Sounds like we are getting our replacements together ready for a deadline day swoop.

Is this Mendes bloke somehow connected?

The Lansbury thing I find really hard to get my head around. It surely can't be true can it? All the rest of the wages I understand for the most part they were Prem players taking a step down but Lansbury - £40k a week it is so insane I just can't comprehend it.
I think the theory is he was going to be out of contract in the summer so would have commanded a big singing on fee and wages from a club then. Madness we paid those wages and 3 mill to Forest on top. The justification would have been we were going for promotion so needed him now I guess.

in that he has a record of success in the championship. with him in charge i'd be confident of a playoff place every season. henry is a complete unknown.
i'd be confident of a playoff place from any manager in history if you gave him the squad we had last season.

Not the greatest barometer, and not overly relevant when assessing his potential as a manager but I’ve always thought of him as an awful pundit.
I still would be excited if he was appointed though.

**** that, not for sale at any price.

It seems some of you want Jack to go more than Jack wants to go.....
I think in a lot of cases it's people being resigned to him leaving and trying to come to terms with it. It's like when you desperately try to find some acceptance in advance of being disappointed so as to soften the blow when it happens. It sums up how hopeless the feeling is at the moment.
Personally, I've snapped out of it. I'd rather me gf pack her bags than Jack leave the Villa.

If this does become a ground zero "we've got as much chance as anyone of going up" situation it's Olof Mellberg for me.

I love the kid too much to wait him to stay at this sh*tshow. Will kill me to see him in another club's shirt though.

Hopefully it wakes up the deluded few who kept saying "I enjoy it down here".
I couldn't even bear to go into that thread going on about how good the championship is.
It's not fun when you catch yourselves in that wilderness where the Norwich's, Forests and Leeds are. It can be a long old hard season, watching average football in crowds of 23/24k fans with a squad of decent been around the block pro's that can be out of the chase by Jan/Feb. That's where I see us going because we have no real saleable assets bar Grealish (and i'd be gutted to see him leave more than any player during my time of watching the club).
We really had to go up, the plan and style of play was too short-termist and "win now" for us not to have. We'll be left with a shell of a squad once the oldies and loans have gone and they'll be no carry over from the last 2 years in terms of playing staff and football philosophy to bring with us next season. We'll likely do a Norwich and start over but I don't think the fans will have the patience for the inevitable fall next season and the '2-3 years' spiel that will come out. This league will get old fast that's for sure (well it already has for me).

Well if ever there was any doubt about how absolutely massive Saturday was, that statement should make it clear. They'll be loads of unrest and negativity amongst the fans now.

Bolasie, Cahill, keeping Grealish..we’d seriously be taking the piss for a championship club.
