  1. I think that’s a big statement. We had 38 points from our first 17 games when they were pretty much ever present. I felt like they were our engine during that time. We’ve only got 28 points from our next 17. We have had a few good results recently but we haven’t progressed from the first half of the season. Strictly speaking, we’ve regressed as might have been expected. I think losing that partnership has been hugely disruptive. We’ve done ok at times but without the duo but at others we’ve struggled. Great as today even was, I felt like we really missed them both at times, particularly in the first half when Bournemouth were getting into dangerous areas quite easily. For top 4, my view is that we need to match or better Spurs’ four difficult games in our four remaining games, taking a worst case scenario that they beat Burnley and Sheffield. So still plenty of work to do.
  2. Superb. Brilliant second half performance particularly. Watkins out of this world. Got better as the game went on. Such a complete player now. I don’t know where he gets such energy. The first half was a bit worrying. They seemed capable of attacking us quite easily but we took total control in the second half. Rogers, Diaby and Bailey the other stand outs for me. Everyone put in a huge shift. Tielemans made a big interception tracking back in the second half. Incredible effort. Well done lads.
  3. Incredible second half performance. Watkins, Bailey, Diaby, Rogers and others all stepping up like big time players.
  4. Brilliant tracking back by Diaby. Class by Bailey and Morgan. Come on now.
  5. I know but everything has a limit. Some of the passing around our own box is crazy.
  6. The goal was coming. We haven’ been good enough. Playing the ball to marked players around our own box eventually cost us.
  7. Excluding the relegation games a few years ago, when was the last time we had a bigger league game at the upper end of the table. This, and the next few games, must be the biggest in over 20 years. We’ve never been this close to the champions league this late in the season.
  8. I originally said 66% based on 1/2 or 4/9 betting odds. But then saw Opta have us at 75%.
  9. That’s true. Things can go wrong. But it takes a lot to go wrong when the odds are stacked in your favour initially. Almost everything had to go right for Germany, while the English teams had a horror show.
  10. We are 1/2 for top four with the bookies so it’s actually 67/33 in our favour right now.
  11. Not finished until those plucky hammers and rolled over! There could be another 24 hours of it at least.
  12. No danger of us getting an easy ride for once in our lives. This has been an unbelievably bad run of results to mess up fifth place. Need a miracle tomorrow.
  13. It’s incredible what one weekend can do. Suddenly Spurs have some work to do to get past us. With goal difference now, they might need four points to get back ahead of us. That’s two games out of six remaining. We are in a really strong position. We need to capitalise on it now against Bournemouth and Chelsea before spurs kick another ball.
  14. It was actually 84% this time yesterday. Still, 57% is better than 43%!
  15. Can’t see west ham going through. Or Arsenal for that matter. Borussia going out would be a start.
  16. Some bizarre behaviour. I even saw comments where people would take the Europa league if it was offered now. It’s pathetic. Europa league is already guaranteed. Why would we take it! Barring some unfortunate results in Europe, we are highly likely to be playing champions league football next season. We need to show some resilience after bad results.
  17. Happy with that draw at Old Trafford. That’s two points in three games for United. They need to win four out of seven just to catch where we are now. I’d say fifth place is 95% certain. Some good results mid week and all will look well in the world again. The sooner we know if fifth will be enough or not the better.
  18. I think we are absolutely ready for the champions league. With our squad fully fit, we have a really strong squad. Add in Kosta at right back and some of our youngsters improving, we would be in good shape. That’s before we do anything in the transfer market. A year in the Europa league won’t make us any more ready. We’d have more or less the same number of games to play. Furthermore, our players will be expecting us to qualify now so failure to do so will lead to disappointment and some big players likely looking for moves to champions league teams. We are in a tricky PSR position too so need every penny we can get. This could be a one time chance. We are unlikely to have a better chance any time soon.
  19. France? France have no chance. It’s between England and Germany. The two all English German ties are huge.
  20. Disaster to concede three goals like that against a team that parked the bus. It’s not a popular opinion but Torres is so weak defensively. When was the last time he did a brilliant piece of defending. Carlos had to do all the defending out there. It’s a huge drop off from Mings defensively. That’s the key reason we are conceding so many goals.
