Woken up this morning more annoyed about the result than I was yesterday when part of me were just glad we didn’t lose it to a last minute Toney winner.
I do think spurs will pip us to 4th. They are able to put out their strongest team due to no injuries or suspensions and have less matches than us to play. (Edit - I mean in terms of conference league, I know they have games in hand).
I don’t think we will fully capitulate and will have enough to keep 5th and my big hope is that 5th is enough for CL.
If we end up with Europa League, I will be disappointed having been top 4 for most of the season but we will have still progressed and I’d have been happy with that at the beginning of the season.

Up to the point where we conceded he was one of the best players on the pitch.
But he, like the whole defense, just cannot stay concentrated for 90 minutes and that ultimately cost us what should have been an easy win
He was v good first half and got serenaded off the pitch. But it went downhill after our second goal.

Deano's best signing and we are so lucky to have him.
Mad that Dean also signed Emi Martinez and they cost about 50 mil total. Incredible business.

Yes but if he doesn’t get booked in the 97th minute he wouldn’t get any ban. Yellow cards are reset after today’s game. He got booked for a reason imho.
Are you seriously suggesting he did it on purpose because he didn’t want to play Arsenal? I thought you were joking.
He looked gutted by the booking and was begging the ref not to book him.

Think Unai didn’t want Ollie to be so public with his comments.

This cheered me up a bit. No Zulu sign for you today.

I love him but I thought he was poor today. Fed up of seeing him at RB, need Cash back asap.

He really impressed me today.

The meltdown if Palace beat City and we lose to Brentford after resting players v city would be immense!
Not going to happen though cos City will win comfortably.

Absolute no brainer and Spurs gifted us the opportunity to take the “free hit” with their draw v west ham.
I did wonder whether that result influenced his lineup or whether he already made the decision to go weak against City.
All is fine if we beat Brentford and Lille.

Yep, concerned we are coming up against a Man City team with something to prove.
Particularly Haaland who got slated on Sunday.

Unai has been on the wrong side of some starting XI decisions for critical matches this year.
At home vs Newcastle - the 4 CM lineup was too slow.
At home vs Spurs - going 5 at the back was a disaster.
Conversely, he picked the best starting XI against United twice and they still managed jammy wins over us. Best XI vs Wolves as well.
The starting XI has usually portended whether or not we will be going for it, so I'm hoping for a predictable lineup!
I don’t think he’s got many options to vary that much.

Okay.... That's slightly different to what I posted. Quick question though, don't 2 Countries get an additional spot?
Yes but Italy are doing the best and will almost certainly get one. It’s between us and Germany for the second spot. They are slightly ahead of us at the moment. We need the English clubs to do well and the German clubs to do badly. So support the English teams and hope that Athletico Madrid beat Dortmund. Unfortunately we could also do with West Ham beating Leverkusen, City beating Real Madrid and Arsenal beating Bayern. Liverpool beating Atalanta is the only one I feel confident about.
It should all become clearer after this round.
Edit- forgot us! Villa beating Lille helps the 5th place spot also so it is partly in our own hands.

Stupid question but I'll ask it: How will we know if the Premier League haas bee given that additional CL place? I don't understand the coefficient system, I just want to know if 5th will get a CL place!
Nobody knows yet. Apparently there is a good chance but the next round of European fixtures should give a better idea. Basically you need to root for all the English teams in the next few weeks.

They thought we would just hand it over to them.
To be fair to the person that started that thread, I think they make some good points about the Europa League being a more winnable competition. I want CL because of what it would mean for the club, for financial and status reasons, what it would mean to the players and coaches. However, there is a part of me that thinks Europa League might be a more enjoyable experience, and a more natural step up.
However, I also agree with Emi’s comments about achieving CL qualification would be like a title for us in that nobody expects us to get it so of course I want that.

Spurs look class to be honest. Really assertive football.
They do but I think they’re playing with their first choice 11 now aren’t they? I can’t think of a single significant absentee for them.

We need to rely on West Ham to beat Leverkusen as well. That’s clearly not going to happen.
-
Piss off West Ham.

Maybe United are just not as sh*t as we keep saying?
