Yep. I don't think we should start with Grealish or McGinn wide, but I'm definitely keen to see us try it in the last 30 of a game - bring a defensive midfielder on for one of the wingers, and push one of the attacking midfielders on to the wing.

Think I'd rather see Jack wide than McGinn.

Nothing from Luiz's games so far suggests he's B2B for me. Looks a DM all day long.

Not sure where he sits tbh definitely not a DM or B2B.......a play maker maybe? perhaps its £15mil we could have spent better elsewhere?

to be honest, if i were a betting man, i would bet as follows:

Deano played Taylor and Elmo for the first game or so as he wanted to show the team that players had to earn their place, and planned to phase Guilbert & Targett in over a few games.

He phased Guilbert in first, i also would bet he planned to phase Targett in, and the Crewe game was a run out for Targett to then go in to the first team, but he got injured which messed up the plan, hopefully it wont be long before Targett is back fit and displacing Taylor.

On another note though, would have put Hause ahead of Taylor if Targett was injured.

Now, if that "idea" of mine above isnt true, and Taylor is there becuase Deano rates him, thats concerning as far as im concerned, becuase hes rubbish, and if Deano thinks he isnt......thats concerning.

So you are questioning the ability of our manager? Have you got your CV ready?

    Isn't this a DM's job?

No a DM's job is to protect the CB's and break up the oppositions play mainly through the centre of the park. The better ones are normally good at distributing the ball too.

  5. Burnley is going to be a tough one they have drawn 2 and lost 1 away and are no mugs we will need to be on top form to beat them which I am expecting us to.

They will also be expecting to come away with something from us though as a newly promoted team. Really looking forward to this one.

Fulham sacked Jokanovic after 12 games:

    LLWDLDLLLLLL

    We are as follows:

    LLWLDL Burnley (H), Norwich (A), Brighton (H), Man City (A), Liverpool (H), Wolves (A).

We will have more than 5 points after 12 games.

If we take 6 points minimum from the next 6 games leaving us on 10 points I'll be happy

Here's last years table after 12 games........we aint doing a Fulham!

We do better when we are down to 10 than when our opponents are 10. But we’re usually bad in both cases. So its not quite answering my questions.

Regarding Arsenal, if that was only for this game I’d say yes, as we only gifted them the win. But as I’ve mentioned out of 8-9 games we only won once in these circumstances. Only two of those were at PL, so quality isn’t the main issue for sure.

I wouldn't worry yourself about it as we won't be playing against 10 men most weekends.

To get worked that hard with a 1 man down for Arsenal?

This has been the case whenever our opposition gets down to 10. Even against Palace we managed to have couple of good last minutes.

We seem to do actually better when we’re down to 10. We could’ve get back to 4-3 against Preston which we gladly didn’t when Bruce went. We’ve even could’ve get something out of Palace.

I’d have liked to say that it was because of our attacking, but its not. Its been around since god knows how long.

Absolutely yes they had two £70m players on the pitch and numerous £40m players. Arsenal are a very good side streets ahead of us, we did bloody well against them.

You kinda answer your own question by saying we play better when we're down to 10. Often going down to 10 men makes teams switch on and consolidate as we did against Palace when we scored a perfectly legitimate goal and should have taken a point.

Well he or any other manager is going to be partially judged against how much money he's had to spend on players. If we were to get relegated having spent £100m plus it will be seen as a massvie failure.

Why? some clubs spend that on 2-3 players we totally refreshed the squad as we had no squad left we were starting with the bare basics we had to make wholesale changes and fortunately with the play off win we had the money to do that.......if we had come up automatically and has limited money to spend kept the same squad as we had last year I would have betted on us being certain to get relegated, as we are I'm fairly confident we can give this league a good crack.

But if we go down playing well and putting up a fight it is what it is and I'd trust DS to get us back up.

  10. I'm not totally convinced with him yet, good at putting a foot in and trying to break up play and pressuring there midfielder, but Jack are John are still coming too deep to receive the ball off him I'd like to see some probing forward passes he seems to do more 1-2s and short passes don't get me wrong I feel he should play there as he's the best we have for that position. Maybe morph him and DL together into a DM/play maker.

I know he would consider us a step down in calibre of club, but with the quality of our owners and the backing they can provide I think we could convince Mourinho. He has already won everything in European Club football and might be up for the challenge.

You are ****ing with us aren't you? 😂

Players routinely running out of gas 2/3rds into a match is indicative of poor strength and conditioning.

Or just being worked hard by a superior opposition. I really like to think with all the facilities and staff available at BMH we are getting the basics of fitness correct.

This is pretty much it. If you want to make use of a man advantage you have to be able to retain possession. We didn't learn from the loss at Spurs and did the same thing yesterday versus Arsenal, sat back and let the opponent have the ball with the inevitable result.

We didn't sit back we were pushed deeper and deeper by two much better sides it'll happen a lot this season whenever we take a lead, and not just by the big teams. **** imagine taking a lead against Liverpool!! We will probably get more results chasing games especially at VP with the crowd behind us.

It shows a lack of intelligence & confidence in their own ability in the team to me. We get a goal up and then stop doing the things which got us there. It happened twice against Arsenal. We show a real lack of nous in those situations. From DS comments post game it looks like he is saying the same thing too. If you sit back and try to defend a single goal lead against pretty much any Premier League team you are more often than not going to mess it up and being against 10 or 11 men is pretty irrelevant (See Spurs & Arsenal away both virtually identical defeats thrown away in exactly the same way) & when you are posing no threat going forwards and just trying to block holes as it means they will find a way through you at some point. We basically allowed them to do that by being clueless in possession and not threatening them nearly enough thus allowing them to push on against us and nullifying any numerical advantage we had. Shocking really for a Premier League team.

Trouble now is you can only see confidence being even more shot after that nightmare on Saturday and we have that horrid nightmare back of knowing with this team no win is secure until the final whistle blows regardless of the score or any numerical advantage we have player wise.... Didn't we have that before when we had been relegated and it took Steve Bruce ages to turn it around??

I see no quick fix for this sadly

Burnley will be licking their lips for Saturday.

Disappointed yes but confidence shot? Nah they have been to a top club and took the lead twice and ended up narrowly defeated. Last time we went there we came away with a spanking. As for Burnley licking there lips I think most teams will be like that, they will see us as a newly promoted team and want/expect to take points off us.

It's underpinned by extremely poor strength and conditioning training. We're out of gas after 65 minutes every single game. In that sort of state you're never going to keep the ball or be particularly sharp with it.

Totally disagree nothing to do with poor strength and conditioning at all I'm sure the coaching staff are conversant with modern training methods, and it's not every game. The reason we are blowing is the standard of the teams we are playing now it's so much higher they know how to make you work hard pull you out of position etc. It's what subs are for  when used correctly😉

So he has confirmed that Luiz was left out of the squad for tactical reasons. That is a complete and utter shambles and an unforgivable error.

If we keep Smith then we are almost certainly going to be relegated. This man has only ever talked a good game, constantly recognising the mistakes in his post match but never actually reconciling them.

His tactical incompetency is undoing all of the hard work everyone else at the club is putting in and makes that £100M we spent a huge waste of money.

Anything less than a convincing performance against Burnley and he has to walk. We are already stranded.

Oh come on that's all a bit dramatic!! It's far to early to be pulling the pin!! We have made mistakes and lost a lead to 2 very good sides we are hardly getting smashed every game. Burnley are a decent side they will want to take a point from us at VP it's going to be a hard slog this season it always was going to be.............imagine if we had kept last years squad and not spent we would really be the whipping boys.

That i can understand. But Lansbury ahead of him.. are you actually taking the piss?

Can't recall saying that, think you may have got yourself all confused.

Maybe a change of formation is required. We only play it to accommodate Jack and John. We really should of put on fresh legs earlier and played keep ball today, made them chase shadows, we really shouldn’t be the team getting tired and making mistakes against 10 men for so long. It’s far too early to be calling for deans head and anyone that suggests that is silly but a few more bad result then the people will start asking bigger questions.

I can't comment on the game yet as I haven't seen it until I get home tonight. But just from reading the comments on here it does seem DS made a tactical error in not introducing the subs earlier.

But at six games in and after losing against what is possibly a top 4 team (definitely top 6) at the Emirates I don't think it is time for big changes. We've tried to defend a lead firstly against Spurs (top 4 team) and then Arsenal and ended up sitting deeper and deeper under pressure and ended up losing.............. it's why they are top 4/6 teams and we are a newly promoted most likely bottom 6 team. They have the talent to break teams like us down. Just wait until we visit Liverpool & Man City that's when the real spankings will start. I think some fans have unrealistic views of where we sit in the pecking order.
