Surprised people are disappointed so far. Every single match I've thought he looks like the only midfielder we got who genuinly looks PL quality.

He has the intensity, fight and directness we lack in pretty much every other player. Hope he plays in a Villa shirt until he is 80 years old.

Absolutely agree...............SJM & Mingels are the first names on the team sheet for me right now.

    Targett can defend though.

Just not as well as Taylor though apparently. It may turn out we had ours pants pulled down when buying Targett. I hope not I hope he's a left sided Guilbert we'll see ,what was it on twitter the Southampton fan wrote attacks like a man defends like an 8yr old boy. I have faith in our manager though if he feels Targett can do a better job than Taylor he will play him he's match fit and available for selection.

Except consistently ruining everything going forward down the left hand side.

So the answer is to replace him with someone who struggles to defend but is better going forward?

I haven't seem Taylor make a mistake that has led to a goal scored against us yet, I've seen mistakes by Mings, Jack and Luiz that have led to goals being conceded but Taylor is the bad guy in all this........unbelievable 😂

  4. The manager seems content with him, singing the defenses praises in his press conference. Would be very surprised if Taylor loses his place anytime soon, he's done nothing to deserve being dropped.

  5.  He's not even making the bench I don't think we will see him anytime soon, our defense has been pretty solid so far I don't think Dean will change it until things go seriously wrong.

The only time I'd like to see Targett is if we played 5 defenders,  he seems a bit of a vulnerability in defense.

Anything at Emirates is a bonus. Hopefully we can a play like we did for the first half against Spurs.

Keep Cabella and Aubemeyang quiet and I don’t think they even that special. Pepe looks good but is raw.

    Their defence is shocking.

    So is our attack though!

  7. Starts at silly o' clock here but fortunately I have tomorrow off work for one of the kids sports day may be yawning a bit during the egg and spoon race.

Against the grain but I'd like to see

    ------------------------Heaton------------------------

    Guilbert----Engels----Konsa----Mings----Targett

    ------Jota------Grealish-----McGinn-----El Ghazi

    -------------------------Wesley-----------------------

There will be so many twists and turns this season. Anyone from 10th down will be looking over their shoulder most the season.

The unpredictability of Spurs, Arsenal, Utd and Chelsea means I can see them dropping more points than usual, as we’ve started to see already.

We've been in every game so far, without playing particularly well. A bit more luck and we would be sat on 5 or even 7 points. Keep the faith and let’s make sure VP is rocking again on the 16th.

Lots of twists and turns yet!

With grealish and mcguinn not currently setting the premier league on fire I’d consider giving Lansbury his chance

Who's mcguinn missed that signing, gone completely under the radar.

As much as I'd like to see something a little bit different...........no chance DS is nothing but predictable it will be a 4-3-3 with Al Ghazi replacing Trez other wise same team,  same subs apart from El Ghazi who will be replaced with JK if fit, if he's not then I don't know? DS likes a GK then 2 options in each area of the field on the bench.

Can someone explain something to me. The link below is a Palace free kick. A Palace player is in line with our wall. Are there not new rules to the game in terms of that not being allowed and they have to keep distance?

The rules are below.................McCarthy looks to have a hand on SJM but he isn't in the wall so no rules look to have been broken.

When there are three or more players in a wall, no players from the opposing team can be in to distract and open a gap for their teammate to shoot through.

Opponents will now have to be a metre away from the wall.

You've been working tirelessly no doubt for the past year to get yourself fit, mentally must have really took their toll after injury after injury, having to really find motivation and belief on those dark days, you finally get back in, get your chance, you take it...and some fat incompetent word removed robs it from you.
It would be enough to make some people jack it in and stop giving a shit tbh.

Henri is a strong character and good to have around the squad (same as Chester) I'm sure he will shrug this one off and have a part to play in this season Dean has him on the bench for a reason.

When we went down to 10 men, putting on Davis and Hourihane for Jota and Luiz was smart. Luiz on a yellow already, Jota isolated with a man down so a 2nd target man was the way to go.

    Accounted for everything.....

    ... except for Friend.

The only part of that I agree with is putting Conor on, he should be starting! Davis was ineffective we may be saving DL from a 2nd yellow get that but never never going to win away matches like that!!

We still showed we could press with 10 men and score legitimate goals. In DS we trust.

With Hourihane and Lansbury on we passed it much better. Not sure there's a way but getting a narrower midfield with more of the better passers in there might be a good idea, width from the full backs and play w/o wingers. Won't happen but we'd keep the ball all day long if we needed to.

I think people need to see past the summer additions?
