  1. i dont dislike Watkins, he's a decent striker, he has a lot of positives to his game.

However, i dont think he suits Gerrards system, I dont think Watkins has the vision or technical ability to play close link up play with players like Coutinho and Buendia, its possible Watkins is just having a run of bad form, but i dunno, i watch him this season and he just has bricks for feet, he doesnt see good passes, he's selfish and loses the ball a lot, he just isnt technically very good in my opinion.

the "he feels threatened by Ings" thing doesnt wash with me, if you are a player at the top level who cant handle competition, then thats on you, and isnt an excuse, now im not saying this is or isnt the proposed case for his poor form, im just saying if what some people say in relation to this is true, then it shines a not very good light on his mentality within an improving club......but ye....im not saying this is the case, as tbh none of us know one way or the other, so i wont say this is or isnt the reason the his poor play/form.

In a nutshell, i just dont think he's good enough for the direction we want to go.

To be fair Mav....his play wasn't delivering that level of performance, hence the doubts, from fans.

It just goes to show, its not just talent alone, because that was always there.....its belief, desire, workrate and the belief in your team mates as well as yourself.

There was a spell of around 25 minutes towards the end, that we was passing it around like Chelsea.....but I still think "Off the ball" we still have some way to go and the first half highlighted that... some quality defensive players will help us with that.

That was Buendia's best game for us and if we have players, who can capitalise on his deft threaded balls , we have a player on our hands.......He was well committed in his duels too.

    very good performance from him.

ye 100% i agree he wasnt performing at his current levels when he first joined, but that isnt the same as "omg this guy is c***", "omg we bought a dud who cant kick a ball" etc etc.

My point was more people were questioning his ability, which for me wasnt ever in question, anyone who had seen the best of Buendia pre Villa, would know he has talent.

Granted its taken time for him to settle, get fit and get up to speed etc, and apply that talent here, but it didnt change the fact that, that talent was always there, was my point.

A bit like us signing Coutinho, he may not have shown his talent recently due to "circumstances", but you cant deny he has talent.

Purslow's comments were interesting. SG wants the age profile raising and proven winners which shows with Phil and Digne.

Will definitely help the talented youth we've got and hopefully phase those lads in to replace them.

Two more in this window? Back up GK and CM?

we need a DC dude, with Konsa probably injured we now have 2 x senior CBs.

He’s loving it here judging by his Instagram - kudos to all the fans bringing Brazilian flags. What a moment that goal was. What a player. Can’t wait until he’s fully fit and we can continue to see those talents.

blimey, looking at his Instagram, this lad is going to raise our profile massively.

I really hope he signs for us permanently, he will help us so much to attract the next level of player(s).

This is to no one specific but just an observation: if you can’t see the progress you’re literally blind to football. It’s frustrated me that we seem to be able to constantly press and apply pressure and do nothing with it, but we are going in the right direction.

EVERYTHING he says is correct. He was praising Countinho’s commitment to maybe get injured by the post to score the goal, despite not having had to commit to literally anything in years. Such a good I didn’t even consider. I’d want to play for this man.

100% this, we are playing much much better than under Deano, granted we seem to huff, puff and struggle a bit with the last decisive pass and finish at the moment, but the build up play, intricate play, one twos, speed of progression etc is light and day compared to what we were doing under deano imo.

we are doing some silly stuff as per the usual Villa way of doing things, but as above, i agree that if you cant see progress under Gerrard compared to the previous 12 months, you are literally blind :)

I'm not even sure what kind of player he is, as he seems good alot multiple things.

Even if he doesn't start all the time he is a major improvement of some of our midfield options of past.

He will only get better as well.

he's a no.8 basically, good hustler, active presser, good tackler, good passer, has decent vision, he is also pretty good going forward but we havent seen so much of that yet rly, he's just a good all round player!

tbh, i think he's an 8 or a 10, but prob more of an 8.

Wait what? How was that not an assist?

cus if u watch closely, you will see Fred kicked the ball away from him, straight to Ramsey, who then scored.

It didnt go down as an assist officially either.

doesnt rly matter, he still had a hand in the goal, scored and just his presence lifted the players on the pitch, was a great debut regardless :P

Think Coutinho style impact sub for rest of the season is smart move based on his very dodgy fitness record so far.

Get him off the bench winning some games like his Everton cameo and then spend pre season working out how to get him into the first 11.

Don't think he ever played false 9 position at Leverkusen but could be wrong.

when fit (hopefully soon), it will be great to have the choice of Coutinho, Buendia and Bailey for those 2 x no.10 slots, as you say, whichever of those 3 doesnt play, can be a good impact sub.

I think Bertie will be behind those 3 as a 4th backup option, although tbh, if we can persuade Chuka Jr to sign a contract, would put him 4th.

I think El Ghazi and Trez are pretty much surplus.

Can you imagine the confidence and boost, a debut goal and assist, plus feeling the love will give him, after what he's been through?

he didnt get an assist m8.

  10. i dont think he is good enough for where we want to be, but i am hoping he does well so he can get himself a good move and make us some cash, some comments from his game today (Milwall 0 - 1 Forest), Davis started, was subbed on 72mins.

the below is from the Nottingham Forest Fan Forum.

When they scored he was hitting the ground in frustration. He was distraught. He really does care.

i hope he isnt too down, cus i thought he was our second best player over the course of the entire match (behind Buendia).

He seems to get a reaction out of them at half time after what is probably a rollicking, he even said so in his post match interview. Agree we will shoot up if he can get that aspect right.

problem for the players is, the ones who keep not listening will be binned off.

which tbh, is a good thing.
