  1. Wow !! Coutinho and Digne .. that is big time !!

That would certainly send a message to the rest of the PL. Good for you guys, I would love to see a shift in the balance of power.

I understand that, I don't think any fan does. But coming on to a different clubs forum and posting a comment like that does you no favours and makes u just as bad as the condescending fans. Welcome to our forum though, if u are nice to people then people tend to be nice back

I have been a visiting supporter here since early 2018 & have been treated very well. I don't always agree with what is said about my club but I pick & choose my moments to comment.

At the end of the day I am a guest in your house & need to remember that.

  3. Leicester are struggling defensively this season especially on set pieces. They really need a new defensive coach but Rodgers is nothing if not stubborn ! Offensively they are doing quite well & scoring goals, Maddison seems to have recovered his form but did appear to re - injure his hip against Southampton. Another poster mentioned that Vardy is getting long in the tooth and he's right but he is still scoring on a regular basis.

I'm worried about this one as I see Mings & Konsa giving Leicester lots of problems on corner kicks !

We should be winning this, yes Palace have made a bright start but they just like Brighton are another team overhyped team on here. We have actually won more games than them

But have lost more as well.!

Palace are playing on the front foot under Vieira and can score goals but struggle to hold on to a lead. It should be a very entertaining game for the outsider.

I think it will be a dark day when we are scared of playing Palace!

Palace are a quality team this season under Vieira & should be respected but never feared. There will be very few easy games in this seasons EFL &  while I don't see Gerrard being afraid I feel he will always respect the other club.

  6. I think that the 21/22 relegation battle is going to be one of the toughest the Premier League has seen.  Norwich, Newcastle and Villa are all going to experience that new manager bounce with Newcastle & maybe Villa splashing the cash in January. A Sean Dyche managed Burnley team will never give up & Brentford , Leeds & Watford all have very experienced  managers and will be tough competitors in the run in. It's imperative that Gerrard gets the team competitive quickly because points are going to get harder to come by as the season progresses. I personally feel Villa possess the quality to avoid the zone but it is no gimme by any stretch of the imagination.

I think they are both very good players, I just don't believe Ings was the right purchase for us for reasons set out above. However, now he is here I do think he will be a good squad player (albeit an expensive one!)

I agree with you, two very good but two very different players. They will give Gerrard very different options and I think  a clever manager could work out how to use them.

Rangers were a shambles when Gerrard took over, to try and say he hasn't done well with them is just silly and very naive to think just anyone could have done the job he's done, and again when he went there they weren't the Rangers of old he had to get them back to that status. Also I'm guessing there's a very strong possibility that most of the people accusing the Scottish Premier League of being League Two standard or whatever have never watched a Scottish Premier League, and probably not a League Two game.

He's done a good job in Scotland, he's been impressive that's just the way it is, whether that's enough for him to get the Villa job I don't know, but this idea that anyone could have achieved what he has with Rangers comes across as ignorance and misplaced arrogance.

And I'm not particularly for him.

I do watch Scottish Football (retired & bored) & it really is quite poor overall.  It is a 12 team league with 8 of those teams being not very good so Rangers & Celtic get to play those 8 teams at least three times. Definitely lower Championship or upper League One level. Gerrard did well to win the league but it really isn't that great an achievement . Definitely not enough to warrant a Premier League job.

He could prove me wrong but it's a gamble regardless.

It was very much a 1 team league when Gerrard took over at Rangers. He made it a 2 team league again.

I agree that he has done well in Scotland but realistically that's not much better than doing well in League 1. I am not sure that he is ready for the Premier League just yet !

Can Villa afford to take the chance with so much on the line ? I feel that this seasons relegation battle is going to be a tough one & Villa don't need to be involved in it by hiring an experimental manager,

I think he could win every Scottish domestic trophy for the 2 years and still wouldn’t be able to go straight from the SPL to Anfield, he needs to take that risk at some point and, like Carragher said earlier, he won’t get many better jobs than Aston Villa.

Winning in Scotland is an empty vessel. Its a two team league & one team didn't show up that season. Gerrard has not proven himself in terms of the  Premier League & hiring him would be an experiment. Villa deserve better !

Watford and Norwich I'd say are likely to go. There's a spot free with no obvious contender right now. Newcastle will escape the drop zone

The relegation battle is going to be very interesting this season . I really don't see Villa getting caught up in it but there will be at least one surprise in the three. I'm guessing that Newcastle will throw a big bag of money at the winter window but Burnley, Leeds & Brentford will be involved alongside Watford & Norwich.

Newcastle looking good against West Ham today - this won't be an easy game but we should still have enough to beat them at home.

Bailey must start and it's important that we play Buendia on the wing. I think we saw enough yesterday to say he won't be effective as a 10.  Unfortunately for Ings this will likely mean he loses his place to a returning Ollie Watkins, but it's great to finally have options up top.

I watched the Newcastle / West Ham and thought Newcastle looked OK going forward but shite defensively. . They commit going forward & are very susceptible to the counter. I think the game suits Watkins more than Ings but either one should  have a field day against them.

Because Willian who is below him is on £300k.

Aubameyang who had much less of a positive effect on Arsenal's season is on £300k.

Ben White, good young defender joining from Brighton is being put on £80k at least.

Their squad is a mess of inflated wages.

An example of how not to build a club.

It becomes almost impossible to move players once a club has put them on stupid money that most other club can't afford

  14. I don't rate Tammy Abraham as high as a lot of people on this site do ! His style of play suited the Championship to a tee but I don't feel he is suited to the Premier . Ollie typifies what is needed from a striker & Tammy doesn't have it.

No bias there then. He has been brilliant for us all season but has one season in the premier league and 20 minutes at international level and yes I know he scored but that isn’t enough at the level he is aiming for at the moment . His time will come if he kicks on from where he is now. Just be patient.

For me it's all about picking in form players not reputations.
