Dunno about that - we dominated much of the game, I don't think the draw flatters you though in fairness, you alway carried a threat on the break and took advantage of our second half tea break well.

That half time decision was very odd - I mean it's probably technically correct I guess, but nobody does that, it's just not how the game is refereed, I'd have been livid if it had gone the other way. The ref got worse as the game went on and he allowed you an awful lot of leeway at set pieces in terms of grabbing hold of players.

Well, you kinda did - we spent most of the first half and a good chunk of the second half camped around the edge of your box trying to find a way through ten (really well organised) men - it's credit to you that you defended so well and restricted that territorial and possession dominance to so few efforts on goal. We defended you well on the break in the first half, but not in the second and you always carried a threat, but you definitely did 'park the bus' I think - the plan was to keep ten men in and around your box to frustrate us and hit us with pace on the break in quick transitions knowing that we'd commit men forward and our centre halves aren't particularly quick - a good plan and you did a pretty decent job of it.

Other than Rogers excellent take,, touch and hit and Watkins towering header maybe - a nice little poke out of a foot from behind a sleepy centre half does not a classic make.

Anyways, I thought overall Brentford looked bright, sharp, organised and difficult to beat - your number eight, Jensen, stood out for me - he looked particularly capable.

    See you next season!

Some fair comments there and forgot to mention our first was a ridiculous miss hit from our centre back took a swing with his right foot misses and hits his left and trickles into the other corner.

  2. Gutted we couldn’t hang on for a win and that wouldn’t have been flattering for us.Dreadful referee we were attacking with players over and Jensen gets wiped out and he blows for half time one of the many poor decisions for both sides all game.Im reading on here we parked the bus 😃we had as many shots on target as Villa and always looked dangerous going forward and Beumo scored the goal of the game.Hope Villa get 4 th spot just pleased with a few players on the way back we are looking like a good side again.

How did you guys not beat Man United, you were all over them! Would be happy if Toney is missing. I'm slightly nervous for this game, Pressure is on Villa.

That game was the best we have played in ages United were poor though and very lucky.Wednesdays game against Brighton was poor and just about deserved a draw.

What do you make of your keeper? From what i saw he started off poorly but seems to be playing well recently?

Improved but I’m still not keen his distribution is good but for a big lump he’s bullied easily hoping our youngster we signed in January comes good

I saw one review of Ollie online that said Toney is the better all round footballer.

Ive only ever seen Toney play against us so I'm not sure how true that is.

I have seen both many times and think Ollie is the better all round footballer.Although Ollie had a poor game along with others against Brazil Toney will have to improve on his current poor form to jump ahead.

    Sounds like bullshit to me.

If uefa are in agreement why their own new rules prohibit spending by owners and are more stringent than current Premier League rules?

Money,FIFA are encouraging money from wherever they can get it hence the Saudi investment coming their way.Premier league owners like at  Newcastle and City will spend mountains of money mostly in Europe on players that will feed back into their coffers.Lets see what happens in the summer and clubs like yours think Christmas has come early.

So when you said this "Basically the top 6 and a few other clubs outside" you actually meant it would suit the majority of the league?

Looking at the lack of spending in the January window where Brentford have become the biggest spenders the answer is yes because most clubs seem to be on the brink of falling foul of FFP.Sky sports transfer programme was as lively as a dead sheep in January window.

Most of this will become irrelevant when the PL have their meeting in June to announce new rules on FFP which will suit clubs with Billionaire owners but not the likes of Brentford West Ham Wolves Bournmouth to name a few.Basically the top 6 and a few other clubs outside will be free to spend as much as they like as long as the spend is backed up with guarantees a type of escrow account.

Sorry should have put this in FFP thread

There is none, anything like this would have to be voted for by a Majority of teams

Needs 14 clubs to agree and it goes through and there are at least that many with billionaire owners.

I think that's where teams like Brighton and Brentford eventually fall down.

Go back a decade and Southampton and Swansea were in their place in the prem. Both those teams had a change of ownership structure when they were riding high in prem and a few years later you get poor value signings and random managerial appointments and both dropped down the league very quickly.

What Brentford do currently is brilliant but eventually a new ownership will want to tweak things and if some of those decisions go wrong it's very easy to be in a serious relegation battle.

I think you are right about what can happen with new owners and could very well happen to us.I have always thought we had a short shelf life in the Premier League and have lasted longer than I thought.Benham stopped putting money into the club while we were in the championship and through excellent transfer business there was no need. However to compete in the PL for top 6 you need to have the finances way beyond his reach and let’s be honest what’s the point just aiming for survival every season it’s boring and I’d rather be in the championship going for promotion or play offs ok you still end up back there but at least you have some excitement.Bet Southampton and Leicester fans are enjoying this season compared to their last years in the PL.

    Brentford could well go down.

Fixtures they've got are very difficult and if Everton get any kind of reprieve they'll be in real trouble.

Could but once we get past the next games Wolves Liverpool Arsenal Man City  man United and Chelsea we should have all our (8) players back apart from Rico we have plenty of winnable games.Would like to think with Schade Bmeumo  Wissa to add to last nights attack we will give anyone a game.City are a class above everyone in this league last night was their first time this season they had a full squad to pick from their bench was unreal.

In a similar vain in how odd it was we were interested it's odd you are too. His highlighted flaws are his ability with his feet which are critical to your style given why you signed Raya and later Flekken.

Yes saw that about his ability with his feet maybe the reported fee of  3 mill reflects he has to improve and maybe we will not play out from the back so much which suits me as don’t think we are that brilliant at that.

  15. 1 hour ago, osmark86 said:

Pretty sure Brentford are going to sell Raya and don't exactly trust Flekken to be their starting goalkeeper. Valdimarsson probably sees a chance to become their number one here.

You are spot on there Raya won’t be coming back sadly for me,Flekken has been a poor signing and was lucky Saturday when he was flat footed again when 2 shots just went  just past the post with him well beaten. As good as your first goal was he never even dived for it even though the shot was outside the pen area.He will be number 1 keeper by the end of this season.

What a ridiculous argument. Forest should not complain about being cheated (by an absolute scumbag of a player) because they have more to worry about??

You are really saying that you are only able to complain about being cheated if you have absolutely no other worries? And to complain about being cheated makes you "entitled"?

    Riiiiiiight. OK

I don’t think it’s cheating it’s all part of the present state of the game whether  it’s feigning  injury, calling for a throw or corner when you know it’s not yours or even not retreating the full 10 yards for a free kick ect.Forrest have continued to break FFP rules going back to the Championship.

It's the biggest overreaction from nothing that I've seen in quite some time.  Calling it cheating is utterly bizarre.

Players take free kicks from wrong positions or move the ball to gain a slightly better angle all the time.  The disingenuous bit is Toney moving some of the referee's foam to make it look like he hadn't moved the ball - certainly the actions of a colossal prick, but not cheating :D.

Weird to call out McGinn on diving and rolling around by the way.  He's not the type at all.  You could've picked almost any of our others players and been closer to it.

I agree I really rate McGinn but he dived a couple of times right in front of where I sit and was warned by the ref. This was just one of numerous we see in all games not just digging him out but he was getting very frustrated in the game as he was trying to win the battle in midfield and Villa were losing at the time.

  18. 9 hours ago, GlobalVillan said:

Well, not really. Since he did cheat.

Whether its enough to disallow it or not is another matter but his actions were clearly not genuine and this is from a man just back from an 8 match ban for gambling.

    The man IS a cheat.

    Laughable? Sorry I don't agree.

Has any of your players ever taken a free kick or throw from the wrong place you know nicked a few yards all ours do.Cheating yes they all do it diving rolling around holding their head when they haven’t been touched I’ve watched yours do it earlier in the season McGinn the main culprit along with some of ours. The sooner will sell Toney  the better for me but I would love to see the reaction if Villa bought him😉
