Happy with a draw we didn’t play well but maybe that was down to your play.Very poor decision for the free kick in extra time but there again Maupay was lucky to be on the pitch after his stamp.Think we will both be up there at the end of the season.

Looking forward to this tonight we have moved up a gear this season and have some youngsters who have greatly improved.I doubt if some of your fans favourite Ryan Woods will start due mainly the fact that we have had a few bids in for him and we seem to be playing ok without him.Love coming to your superb stadium a score draw will do for me and It’s certainly going to be a good game.Pity it’s on Sky as it will reduce our following.

How many times does it need to be said that Dean Smith is not a manager - at Brenford he is pretty much just a head coach. We have literally nothing in place that would make this guy anything but completely out of his depth.
He is just that our head coach as many on here understand but still quite a few just don’t.Just us he wasn’t forced to sell Jota Dean and Colin we had already signed their replacements and we got good money from a lowly championship side that just about stayed up Again. If Dean Smith was approached by Villa I would expect him to jump at the chance to manage his boyhood club not to mention the size of the club but he would be a big gamble imho.I really like Dean and he fits in well at our club and is very popular with players and fans but should he leave we already have a replacement from our group of coaches and we just carry on the same as when Rosler and Warburton (he wasn’t sacked)left for greener fields both now without clubs.Look forward to visiting Villa Park next month

I agree there might not be many champ sides looking to appoint him, but there's definitely some fans that are pleading that way. I applaud the Brentford way and find it intriguing however I don't believe the strategy is for all clubs and Villa with its high expectations would not get away with it.
My point on Dean Smith is that his next club wherever he ends up (if and once he moves on) would be taking a big risk, imho I don't think Villa are at that point to be taking such a risk although our hands may be forced due to FFP
I pretty sure Dean Smith realises all that but if a big money offer comes along would be very hard to turn down.Be interesting to see what happens at Leeds with Heckingbotton who was lorded about last season after doing a good job at Barnsley on a small budget now looking to off load after only a few months. If Dean was our manager and responsible for everything on the football side of the club think he would have gone a while ago.

I think Bruce will be the manager for the first game... what happens then is up to him and the results
id be a bit wary of any club appointing Dean Smith, from hat ive read about Brentford I don think he has much say about anything - tactics, transfers and even subs
I don’t think any championship side is looking to appoint Dean Smith as a manager as the owners would have an understanding of his input in Brentford’s set up.However they might be interested in recruiting his as a coach to work under a manager. He is our head coach with 2 others alongside and they do work as a democratic team.Interesting you mention subs there was an instance last season where after the game Dean was happy to admit he was about to sub a player but he stayed on and got the winner due to the other 2 coaches saying he should stay on.Some fans and most commentators tend to criticise our set up and owner and peddle miss information especially around the time Warburton left (he was never sacked )but most of our fans are more than happy with our set up that suits a club of our size that has now completed 4 years of top half finnishes in the championship.

When a manager goes, a new one slots in. It's easy to want Smith based on how Brentford play football, but how much is Dean Smith, how much is the pre-existing set up? (I seem to remember everyone wanting Warburton from Brentford around that era).
Lee Johnson - I have the distinct pleasure of living near Bristol. The general consensus is that they want Johnson out and question his game management. Very inexperienced and very risky, also, is his football particularly attractive?
John Terry - People saying this is his first foray into management are forgetting that time he managed Chelsea from the bench to lead them to Champions League victory. Really though, he needs a coaching role and experience first. He probably knows that and isn't stupid enough to Tim Sherwood his way into management, damaging any reputation.
Steve Bruce - He's so close to being perfect, right? I mean, he's such a likeable bloke, he's sorted out the dressing room, he's brought in great players for this league using his connections but his tactics are just to archaic. Did it work? Well, yeah it did actually - a lot of the time. Did it fail? Yeah it did! It's easy to say he was without this best players for a lot of the season in Terry, Grealish and arguably Kodjia, but his tactics have brought about failure.
Sam Allardyce - Really, if hoofball is on the cards I'd really rather keep Steve. I don't subscribe to win percentages, but Sam's are particularly shocking.
Oscar Garcia - I see Garcia's name pop up whenever there's a chance we may change manager, I've even floated it a few times. In my opinion he would come to us, after managing in the Championship before. I'll let him describe his style: "My obsession is to attack and to have the ball as many times as possible. If we have the ball, we will have many chances to score and to win. That’s my philosophy."
That'll do for now in my thoughts. I think Bruce will stay for what it's worth. I can see Xia being talked into dreams of stability, contacts, dressing room, etc. But if he does go, I think Garcia, if given time, could be our Nuno, Jokanović, etc. You want sexy, stylish attacking football? A 'Villa Way'? Someone not in a job at the momentum? Who can build something to get up, stay up and push on? I think Garcia is that man for us.
You are correct regarding Dean Smith who has fitted in to our structure very well as did Rosler and Warburton. Before Smith came we did try a foreign coach Marinus Dijkhuizen who was seen as a mistake by the DoFs after only nine games and sacked.Other clubs forums like West Brom Birmingham and Derby have suggested getting Dean Smith without carrying out any due diligence into what he actually does in his current job as Chief Coach.Im not certain that he would suffer the same as Rosler and Warburton did when they moved to bigger clubs but it would be a big gamble for both parties.Dean Smith is a very personable down to earth bloke who doesn’t even have an agent and is very well looked after by our owner and he shares the ups and downs with the whole group. We started last season without a win in 9 but there was never a hint of pressure on him wonder how that would sit with your fans or any other big championship clubs.I can’t think of any creditable manager out there who could replace Bruce and with the pending FFP reportably on 12 championship clubs I would expect you to stick with him.Look forward to visiting your great stadium next season.

Dean Smith might if the money was right and wouldn’t blame him.The problem for you is you would be taking a big risk of taking him out of a very well supported and structured set up at Brentford. He is head coach assisted by many and if he left one of those would step up and we would carry on without any disruption as we did when Warburton and Rosler left and were then sacked by both all the clubs they have joined since. It is the same with players who leave us remember that lot down the road from you took our best 3 players according to them a year ago and were going to storm the league that went well then.
