How many bad day's at the office can one team have, we've barely started the season yet produced more abjectly awful performances than the entire of last season under Emery.

I don't think we should have changed the back 4 for an away European tie
No, utter madness bringing in a player for his debut and bringing in another journeyman, we aren't playing Hibernian, this is the real thing

for god sake Unai get some of this clowns off the pitch

not sure how we are still in this, our defensive line up is utter suicide

See that’s we differ, I think he isn’t playing well for him. I’m not talking about scoring…I’m not sure I see how anybody thinks he played decent against Palace for example.
won a penalty?
wouldn't say he was decent, still involved, still contributing, not to the level he can, he's definitely suffering from a loss of confidence and has another level in him. I just don't think 'he needs to be sold/not good enough for where we want to go style horsepoop' that gets bandied about (IMO).
Not aimed at you, but just be nice if it wasn't always extremes of opinion on here, there can be levels/nuance/grey areas, a striker can still be playing well even if not scoring for example.
People use past players as examples, past players who in some cases have somehow become better since they played for us.- 1

He's a striker so there will always be frustration and anxiety when he doesn't score and on that front he definitely isn't delivering and i'd hope he improves soon.
BUT he is still causing defenders problems, creating space for others and setting up goals/winning penalties, he is by no means a passenger and I don't think any other player we have can hold the ball up the way he can, Diaby and Bailey are too slight and lack physicality. Zanilo might when he beds in and Duran is a work in progress.
Can he do better yes, is he playing poorly, not even close.- 3

In home games he seems to be extremely effective, away games it's basically the opposite for whatever reason. It wouldn't be surprised if he was to start next week against Chelsea he'd probably drop a stinker.
He's had a decent start to the season this season so hopefully it stays that way. Just keep him on the bench in away games and we're sorted.
You think going to West London will give him extreme flatulence?

Irony is... if we " push on this season " ... we may want a striker even better than him to then push on even further.
can we hear the music pumpin' hard like i wish you would? Then surely we can... push it good

If you think Ollie is streaky you didn't watch Deano.
I did watch Deano and am delighted to confirm he was pretty streaky, thanks for stopping by.

The issue is the level of trust we have in Carlos or Torres to replace Mings, at the moment neither look capable but it's early days.
Moreno will help on the left but will need some time to recover match fitness.
We need Ramsey back, because without Buendia we have no one to carry the ball from midfield.
I feel like we are 4-6 games from really seeing where we are this season and we will drop a lot of points while Unai figures out how to get everyone back fit and firing while bedding in the new boys.
Top 4 no chance, Top 6 maybe, Top 8 definitely. Will settle for a good run in Europe and the cups at this stage and not getting utterly wiped out by the teams at the top.

Nah
Until he starts scoring again and then everything is fine, i'm sure there are many better strikers out there that will come to us... no probs, get Monchi on it bruv he'll sort us right out
If you believe half the crap spouted on this forum, about two players are 'good enough' for wherever it is people think we should be, it's called Spurs syndrome, always one striker or midfielder off greatness -

I would cash in Jan if we can get 50m+ for him to be honest.
Think he's reached his peak and should get some profit while we can.
Even his peak is good enough for us

he's good but he's not Dean Saunders or Dalian Atkinson level.
I loved both Dalian and Dean but Watkins has already got more goals than either and I'd guess more assists.
People forget that the level of football has changed, outside of Haaland how many strikers are consistent let alone English ones???

From when I can remember starting to watch us, Benteke and Yorke are comfortably clear of any other strikers we've had. Just another level.
People forget how often Benteke would get injured and how long he would take to regain his form, he was awesome when match fit and firing but as soon as he got some consistency he went to Liverpool...
Watkins maybe frustrating but he's still one of the best strikers we have ever had and would take years to replace -
the question is... can he play out from the back under a high press
if he can then he should start as the rest of our team struggle -
I would be annoyed if i sat on the bench watching the Newcastle and Liverpool performances....

He may not look as graceful or elegant but he still glides past people. Most importantly, he can really finish. Jack always seemed confused when it was time to pull the trigger. JJ is desperate to bury it.
we've missed him a great deal
in terms of influence in order
Mings, Ramsey, Buendia, Moreno
4 core players we have lost to injury, no team recovers easily from that no matter who you try and sign.- 9

It's because it's a minor injury and Emery updated on it post match.
speculated/hoped - at that point no results of scans would have even come back

Muzzy Izzet, Jermaine Defoe
David Unsworth (kidding) -
still no news on the injury?
Have we reached the point we have so many dire injuries the club have decided to stop releasing information to protect morale?????- 1
