  1. You have to be better than mediocre to make it in the premier league as long as Allardyce and Pulis have. What Allardyce's achieved at Bolton was a lot better than mediocre.
  2. Why do we need to get relegated to rebuild? Allardyce or Pulis would have kept us in the premier league and given us stability and a platform from which to build on when Lerner sells. The way it is now, we are on our way to the championship and may not come back. Also I don’t think Allardyce is just a “survival specialist”. I think he can do more than that and with some backing may have been able to build something here.
  3. The same way they looked last season and in pre season. If our strikers can hit form Sinclair can go under the radar. With space in front of him to run into he is usually effective This is more or less what I have in mind:
  4. Needs at least a place on the bench. He has goals in him and we are struggling to score. If our strikers can start scoring I'd like to see him tried with Traore on the wings. Being less of a focal point he can play his natural game and can see him scoring again.
  5. I named 3 earlier in this thread and others we could have appointed instead of Sherwood.
  6. I will say though he looks committed and will try anything in his power to get things right. I just don't see the outstanding qualities which would set him apart from other managers in the premier league.
  7. For the record, I'm not anti Garde. There are better managers we could have appointed and there are worse. He comes across to me as mediocre at best and not the manager we needed to dig us out of a hole quickly. Considering the quality of managers in the premier league right now and the mountain he has to climb I can't see him being a success.
  8. I hope so. I'm only calling it as I see it. Am not expecting anybody to agree with me either. That is the point of a forum, to share and discuss differing views.
  9. Sorry, I didn't realise this was a North Korean political forum. I thought it was Villa Talk where Villa fans can express their opinions freely.
  10. Allardyce was available and I would have let go of Sherwood sooner to get him.
  11. He’s very sensible and considered with what he says but underneath I see a lot of apprehension and it does anything but fill me with confidence.
  12. When I look at Allardyce he exudes strength. When I look at Remi Garde he doesn’t. When I listen to Allardyce I feel confident and assured. When I listen to Remi Garde I feel doubtful and uncertain. Our squad is better than Sunderland’s. Defoe has only started scoring goals since Allardyce arrived. I would say “knowing what we were getting” is exactly what we needed.
  13. I would't go out of my way to describe Remi as any of those. Definitely not strong, motivational or proven.
  14. The managers I suggested were alternatives to Sherwood and Garde. Allardyce was the obvious choice for me but I think Swansea are on the right track appointing Guidolin and making enquiries about Bielsa.
  15. I disagree strongly. Gil, Amavi, Traore, Okore, Gueye, Sellars, Bacuna, Lescott is what is keeping me positive. I also think Clark, Westwood, Cissokho, Kozak, Agbonlahor, Hutton, Guzan and Bunn are better than they are given credit for.
  16. Pulis: Disciplined, organized, negative, stubborn, proven. Allardyce: Strong, motivational, positive, likeable, proven.
  17. When Allardyce took over Sunderland had the worst squad in the premier league by a mile. Can't understand why they got rid of Pantilimon but apart from that he has them in order and and is getting the most out of what they have. I think they made some good and dubious signings and the competition around them is fierce this season so it will be interesting to see if they can escape.
  18. Whatever, mate. I have my opinion just as you have yours.
  19. Well I think Allardyce or Guidolin would have got those points. We would have been closer to safety and had no excuse but to blame the board entirely.
  20. I don't think he has got as much out of the squad as others would have. A few wins early on may have given the board some hope of staying up and prompted them to invest in a striker and an attacking midfielder to push on.
  21. That could have been addressed in the January window. I don't think we were any worse off than Bournemouth before they signed Afobe and much better in other areas.
  22. I wasn't a fan of the Sherwood appointment but I thought he deserved another chance after what he achieved last season. Alarm bells were ringing early this season though and I thought he needed to be let go sooner. Bringing in Allardyce when there were rumours he might join would have been a better choice. We were only a few points from safety then and I would have been confident he would have got us out of trouble.
  23. I rate the squad. I think we wouldn't be in this position if we got Pulis last season or Allardyce this season. Ranieri also more than likely would have chosen us ahead of Leicester if we wanted him. Bilic, Flores, Guidolin were all better appointments.
  24. Uninspiring, boring, safe, conservative. Won't make it as a top manager in the premier league.
