Not sure what his position was supposed to be in this game, neither first or second half. Hopefully we will go with Jedinak and Tshibola in the middle.

Just when we think we might be rid of one problem in westwood, enter jedinak.

Time to lose RDM and get clarke to take over.

If Clarke can't have any impact from Mon-fri in training which looks to be the case then i wouldn't want him in charge. Might be a long shot but we have money and are bigger than Bournemouth.. Eddie Howe.

Paul McGrath had/has an infamous association with alcohol.

He was fortunate to be in an era where is was less of an inhibitor to his performance.

bottom line is....He did the business.....so ended up with a chant as opposed to a witch hunt.

I think Jacks problem is his game.....whatever effects it, is conjecture.

Ps Andy Gray had his fair share....but like Macca delivered the goods

To be honest i think if anything McGrath's era was much tougher being an alcoholic when proper professionalism in the premier league/old div 1 was still in its infancy and drinking culture part of the game a lot. Factor in they probably had nobody to talk to, no support mechanisms. But back on point, McGrath delivered.. always!. Jack is a show pony, he's showed nothing relative to the hype lets be honest. The biggest thing he's done between the white lines was score a very fine goal in a game we lost 3-2. He might make it, be wondering if he wants it enough. Villa my main concern though, not the trials and tribulations of Jack grealish.

I really don't see much of an issue at the moment, the investigation may change that.

His antics last summer were bad and he deserved criticism, his antics after the Everton defeat deserved criticism. But so far there's no evidence that he's done anything wrong apart from guests at his party acting like tits at early hours in the morning. We don't really know how true that is.

They're not fining him 50 grand for "not doing anything wrong". Di  Matteo didn't back him or dismiss the story.

i do understand what you mean, by you giving money to the club you are contributing towards X Y & Z.

still doesn't mean he can't enjoy his free time....

again....what exactly has he done wrong???

Fair point. If the club are fining him 50,000 pounds then maybe they are better positioned to answer your question and more privy to what went on.

Can't get my head around why people expect pro footballers to live a nuns life!?!?

the fact that people expect them not to go out and enjoy their life like everyone else in the world is entitled to do is completely barmy!!!

do some on here actually realise what they're expecting?? Your saying that because he's a pro footballer he's not allowed to enjoy his free time with a beer? He's not allowed to go on holiday in the close season with his mates and get leathered? He's meant to be on duty representing the club 24hrs a day 365 days a year?

thats absolutely ridiculous!!! And the people saying he should be sacked etc. need to wake up!! Long and short of it is that he's had some beers in a hotel room with some mates IN HIS FREE TIME and caused too much noise!!!

he works, pays his tax and NI and can enjoy his time off like the rest of us. Can't see what's so hard about that?

if you think he's not allowed to enjoy himself because he's a footballer who gets paid well and should always be on duty......you need to take your head out your arse!!!

I think why people, and rightly or wrongly so it is subjective, get the hump is that a lot  of people on these pages pay jack grealish's wages every week. His obscene wages i might add, like all top footballers are. So if grealish is in a team that's getting tanked 4-0 at Everton and a team that's well off the pace in the championship and going out on an all nighter it pisses me off. Again I've no objection to the fact he was out till 3 am, its the lads b'day, its the fact he does the dog on it. its early season and to be honest Jack you are in a team that ain't tearing up trees lets be honest . If people are pissed off, well they pay his and the rest of the  underperforming villa squads wages.

The post asked him to shoot or pass it to someone else. Hinting that he does neither.

He shot lots more than anyone else and kept the ball better as well.

He was an advanced midfielder - it's his job to shot, preferably working the goalkeeper.

Ashley Westwood also keeps the ball-he's utter shite though. I'd take John swift over grealish in a heartbeat.

In our last game he had more than double the amount of shots anyone else on our team had.

His pass accuracy was also better than anyone else.

I don't think you watched it.

Seen as we had no shots on target, i wouldn't make a point of well....making that point. Zero end product to his game, his game has stagnated. Still playing boys football at senior level, it's showing.

  9. Report states he was out celebrating his 21st which some team mates attended. He headed on then to the hotel at 3 am with some mates and stayed partying for a few hours. The fella clearly ain't the brightest let's be honest. Go to house, private party even. If he doesn't have the sense to call it a night at 3 am after being in trouble twice before then i dunno. Not like he was told he wasn't to go out. A show pony who should CLEARLY be spending much more time after training working on his game.

  10. Just gets to a point where it becomes annoying. For the last 2 years this young fella has made more headlines off the field than anything he's done on it. He's scored a fine goal at Leicester, he's most noteworthy contribution thus far. He does get a bit over hyped, i've probably even been guilty of it in the past but compare him to John swift - similar age and he's probably out performing grealish without any of the fanfare.

  11. Newcastle have notions, they aren't all that. They're local journos and fans have made some sneery comments about us in recent weeks. They don't like us, don't think we are too gone on them either. I think we'll be bang up for this.

Westwood FFS. We're playing with 10 men

Not having a pop but : 1. Gardner is not that good. 2. We aren't around bodymor Mon-fri. We don't see what the coaches see up close with Tshibola  re fitness, match sharpness. Westwood is what's available for today's game. Unfortunate but is how it is.

  13. Did this guy really make gueye look that bad or was that his own doing. I won't say i can't believe because I know he's good but I'm rather surprised that idrissa gueye has been the best midfielder in the premier league this season.

If Adomah and Tshibola are fit to start, I would go with this. If not then Ayew and Westwood in.

Subs: Bunn, Ayew, Westwood, Baker, Amavi, Gestede, Gardner

This squad should at the very LEAST be challenging in the playoff spots. Di Matteo needs to deliver 3 points quickly.

Not a bad shout though i still think in time to come grealish's best position will be somewhere down the middle. He's very ponderous with the ball out wide. If we are sticking with Cissokho at LB I'd like to see amavi on the left wing. Grealish, and it's not a criticism, won't make a full back uncomfortable or run at him hard, not his game. Full backs need to shitting it against the other guy, Jack don't give us that out wide. His vision down the middle is what's gonna be his strong point in years to come imo.
