  1. Interesting piece in the brum mail from rowett about wagner, said huddersfield were the most drilled/organised side he's come up against. When they pushed up and tried to press them, the huddersfield backs calmly passed the ball out of defence.

  2. Look whoever we appoint is a gamble. Every football managerial appointment is , you obviously do your homework but there are no certainties. We appointed a champions league winner and he's flopped. Personally, I'd like to see us get David Wagner. Though in typical villa fashion we would probably end up agreeing to take Jonathan Hogg back as well for about 15 million. Our last 3 managers were out of work. Let's get somebody who's currently doing well and in employment.

It's ok doing it at clubs like brentford but villa is a huge leap in size - some in the past have stepped up from smaller clubs and failed , turner and lambert spring to mind.

It's football. Nothing is guaranteed, even with spending money. Calculated risk. The thing I've always worried about with villa is the people responsible for hiring our next manager. No confidence.

The thing is, as much as you may dislike them, the likes of Bruce etc may actually do a decent job in at least steadying the ship.  We need a proven Championship manager now to get us out of the shite. I'm not so sure Dean Smith has that pedigree.

RDM, on the back of getting WBA up had championship pedigree. Jedinak and Elphick had got promoted. McCormack scored bag loads. The "Championship experience" stuff is failed logic. Where's David Wagner's championship experience ? Little huddersfield actually took time to scout and find a real gem of a manager managing essentially a reserve team. The got their hands dirty and real football people made a very good decision. Villa arrive on , throw money at everything without seemingly doing their homework on anything. Embarrassing at the minute.

I've been through this already. There's a culture of defeat and weakness at the club. It's been there for years. The very fact that we've changed so much and yet we're still so awful only strengthens my point.

RDM is of course part of the problem. He's clearly not up to the job but he's not the whole problem. As usual with VT though it seems there is little middle ground with many.

Nonsense. Team's get relegated. Change of personnel, things improve. RDM is the problem. This toxic atmosphere people refer to at Villa is down to one thing. Results. Its always about results. People saying the atmosphere in the canteen at training etc for the last few years is bad, well course it is. We're losing. This manager hasn't changed that, thus he is responsible. Simple.

  6. He inherited squads at WBA and Chelsea which he essentially had nothing to add to. Look what's happened here when he's being left to his own devices to sign players. I remember on this pages when Lambert was rumoured to going to be sacked, many on here turned there noses up at Pulis. I'd have him in a heartbeat. Absolutely.

  7. Time for Tony to make the call this evening and get him gone. He then needs to take a back seat and not be as involved in choosing who is the next manager. Tony was very proactive in the recruitment of dimatteo. He's got it horribly wrong.

I'm getting more confident with Gollini. We still need a decent second keeper though. Steer and Bunn don't cut it.

Mistakes like yesterday's shouldn't cost us two points all the time. That's what's ridiculous.

    Surely you meant less ??

As much as it is bloody annoying at present I don't think sacking him is the right move. If the club thought he was the right guy in the summer they should stick to this and ignore the keyboard warriors.  If the Doctor sacks RDM now then it we are yet again back to square one fishing around for a system and style of play- though this could be said at present in fairness.

It is very frustrating that we are not performing to our abilities but I still think once we get that first win it will settle everyone down. We have only lost the twice but obviously have drawn a ridiculous amount of games which is not good enough. I think we will win at Preston and that will give RDM some time over the international break to think over a few things. Like how not to let in goals in the last 5 minutes of every ruddy game.

I just think the fact we are conceding late in so many games is what's worrying. Once or twice even fair enough. 5 times in 10 games is unforgivable and that's not including the second half capitulation against Bristol City. Getting 3 points Saturday only masks over things imo. It will happen again if we stay with the current managerial setup.

  10. No , sorry but that's a cop out. Every player must look after their own performance and jedinak's was terrible. Having westwood beside him in the first half doesn't justify his own performance. It was crap.

RDM is showing worrying signs of being tactically inept. Starting with 3 at the back against one up front is wrong. At times 1 player covered 3 of ours and other times 2 players contained 5 of ours no wonder we couldn't attack!! Then he picked Bacuna in centre mid and our new winger as wing back!! We were awful 1st half and should've changed shape to get a footing in the game but he did nothing. We could easily have gone to 442 or 433 with the players we had on. In the first 6 games with a flat back 4 we have looked good going forward and pretty solid in games but because of a few late goals he's decided to play 3 at the back. We don't look any more solid but he's managed to nullify our attacking threat. 2 wins this week or he has to go. Hopefully Stoke lose next week and Hughes becomes available.

Would you not be worried about the fact your looking for a manager who by the looks of it has lost his dressing room at his present club ?

Feel like I'm fighting an uphill battle here, but I think he contributes a lot, also today. He is strong and wins a lot of the one on one battles and he is very good in the air, both defensively and in attack. He tries to spread the passes and drives us forward as well.

He had some awkward moments today, especially in the first half, but I would say that was partly because of the formation that confused some of the players.

For me he has delivered as expected so far. An inch or two on our side and his goal wouldn't have been offside, and I think the reactions would have been different.

But he can't play football, clearly your eyes tell you that, c'mon.

  13. This is where our " yeah well they must have championship experience " shite gets us. When we should be asking, can they **** play football ??? Clubs with a fraction of our budget like reading and huddersfield are embarrassing us atm because seemingly they take time to scout talent, we would of got john swift if we wanted him, probably be surprised if our board knew he was available. We instead paid to much money for a lad who can't play football, it would appear.
