  1. My question is this. If DiMatteo wants to get to work immediately with clearing out and bringing in players,  as most clubs are actively doing already then is the money available right now ?   Hearing that the fit and proper testing might not be finished until the end of June, that isn't ideal. Will Xia release money now to sign players for a club he technically doesn't own yet!. June needs to be a busy month for us.

Keep Amavi until January and see what the situation is then.

That's the stance I'd take of most of the players we want to keep unless they are really desperate to leave. I'd probably make an exception for Ayew who is comfortably a premier league striker and sure clubs will be interested in them.

Keep Grealish, Amavi, Adama, Okore, Gana etc aslong as they WANT to be here.

It surely won't be a fire sale anymore, Dr Tony can cover their wages for a year like Ashley did when Newcastle went down and they had Barton,Nolan etc on massive money for the division.

If we sold him for what we bought   him for or a little more and brought in Rico Henry for significantly less i wouldn't be opposed to it.

  3. Moyes would be a serious coup.    Great eye when it comes to signing players. I don't think he would consider coming either if he wasn't given assurances that he'd be signing the players.

I just watched the interview, and he looks about 10 years older than 30, do we have his age right?

He also seemed a bit shy and even nervous, which makes me like him, he's not pompous or polished and he doesn't seem like he's full of shit.

I look forward to an owner who will be visible and vocal when needed.

If we really have 50m to spend this summer...I say we bring Tekkers back for the promotion push, wouldn't that be great?!

    He's 39.

  5. Doesn't change my view on who we need next year but after the money tone says we'll have I'd like to think targets will be more attainable. Mowatt, Cook, Rico Henry ( if Amavi goes ) Guys who could handle that division and have the potential to improve further. If we don't need to sell amavi, gana and ayew and could persuade them to stay it be great.

  6. Just speculating but i would imagine the skybet championship is not shown on tv in China. Also terrestrial tv is the big thing in china which is brilliant really, they don't go in for subscription channels. Not exactly business savvy but common sense for somebody on villa's commercial side to start negotiating a tv deal over there.

  7. I don't think money will be an issue, it will be spent relative to the challenges in front of us. If DiMatteo, Pearson or whoever spend 30-40 million in pre season and can't have us competing for promotion then Tony xia won't the problem. It's good for villa being taken over at this stage by Chinese investors. They are clearly looking to promote and grow Chinese talent but that is years away yet. The only way you promote is by showing ramires, jackson martinez etc in the domestic league and hopefully promoting Aston villa.

  8. Do not underestimate the potential scale of this deal. I've heard it said around this morning that villa are only a pawn in a bigger game. If us getting promoted and competing at the top end of the premier league is part of it though I've no problem. The potential for growth in football and sport in general in China is massive, Xia knows this. The big money for him isn't getting 42 thousand into VP every week. It's China, the money is in China. But i don't see how we lose. If our brand grows over there and we become more popular, he will look to grow support even further thus investing more into the squad. Cautiously exciting/optimistic times.

  9. If we could keep 2 from 3 of Grealish, Gana and Ayew I'd be pleased. It would be something to work with, they are our most talented players, attitude questionable though. I think Lyden could do a job at RB, nobody will take a punt on amavi been out so long which is good for us. Green should get game time. Westwood, Bacuna, Cisshoko to name a few not good enough, need replacing. Remember though, there is a discernible difference between the premier league and championship. Bamford tore the championship asunder last year, couldn't make a dent in the premier league this year-he's a talent though. Grealish will do well, granted he stops fannying around and puts in a shift too.

  10. Was on a stag in Berlin the weekend gone. On fri evening a couple of us got the S- Bahn and headed out to watch Union Berlin v Bochum. 15 euro in , fantastic atmosphere. Anyway, Union had an American striker playing named Bobby Wood. Looked very good. Tearing the league up this year apparently. Scoring at international level too.

  11. Pat Murphy is usually a good source of information, I think it's genuine. When you look at moyes's transfer dealings at Everton, it really is remarkable. He got piennar from Dortmund for 2 million.  Some  bargain. One that really goes under the radar and never gets talked about much but is relevant to us and how shrewd we'll need to be next season was when he signed carsley from coventry for a million i think. Did a really fine job for them. Moyes has a serious eye. If Hollis and Bernstein don't contact this guy I'd be very disappointed.
