  1. Pearson been jobless and in the wilderness since the summer is probably more of a reflection of the modern game than the man himself. I wouldn't say i like him, I certainly could tolerate him though. He has a very low threshold for bullshit and speaks his mind. Doesn't suffer fools easy. Appeared to have a very united, spirited squad at Leicester. Unity and spirit as a villa fan, what are they you ask.. Back in the day Clough was a bit "different" , bit abrasive but it was accepted because his side got it done more often than not. If people think Pearson has attitude problems in the media briefings, look up some of clough's back in the day. Yes,   Pearson has had some stupid incidents too but i think he is worth a punt. Soft, pampered mentality around the club that needs changing.

  2. Bringing Pearson in without his staff is a bit like bringing garde in without genesio when he clearly wanted him. Not saying it's why he failed at all but point is if Pearson's only real managerial success was achieved with a backroom stuff who we probably won't land then it must be a no. Far too risky. We've half arsed things for too long. Let's be thorough and for once get it right.

  3. I'd like players at the club next year who aren't afraid of the ball and genuinely want to show for it .  Don't want anyone else coming here stealing a living. The thing i liked to see yesterday and all season because they play good stuff, was guys like cook, elphick, and Francis - all played with Bournemouth in league 1 . So game and so committed. Ok they aren't without they're mistakes but jesus do they want to play in the premier league, they absolutely embrace it and don't hide, at all. We have a bunch of mercenaries. It's a disgrace.

Difficult, yes...but generally worth the effort.

I remain someone who would be disappointed with Pearson, I think if we get the appointment right, then the manager will help define what we are - I'd hate to think that the club would be made in the image of a dog average bully - that said, I wouldn't be overly surprised if I get the chance to find out.

For me, a club in a situation like ours need someone that can carry the flag, someone we can rally around and who we can take pride in sparking a revolution. I think Moyes can do that, I think a young manager with a bit about them might have a chance of doing that, I think Pearson would be immediately divisive and I'm not sure he's good enough to overcome that.

Thing about it though, despite his fractured relationship with the media, the board..he never once, at any club appeared to lose the dressing room. His players always seemed to like him.

  5. I reckon we'd get jordi gomez for next to nothing. Even though he's playing in the championship id challenge anyone who thinks we have a midfielder who is better technically and a more clever footballer than him. Not saying he is world class by any stretch but it's fairly bad to say he is a better footballer than the crowd we have masquerading to be in the premier league. Still only 30. Would do a job for us next year.

    No, it's rubbish.

It's a generalisation based on nothing. Our most successful period in years was playing counter attacking football.

Just because we're shite now doesn't mean we're not allowed to moan about Pulis. It doesn't mean Villa fans have this bollocks 'football romanticism'.

Making huge, sweeping generalisations isn't the best thing to do either really.

Also, you can want the bolded and still dislike Pulis and not want him here so not really sure of the relevance.

And one of our worst periods, being these last 5 years and culminating in this year , is a time where our players, in the main, have been stealing a living. That isn't a lazy or generalised statement. You know that to be true . My reference to pulis was in reply that his style is apparently not easy on the eye, to which replied that i think we have a lot more to fix at this club first which i think he would do. Yes, we played good counter attacking football under Gregory but he clearly had a structure in place, took no bullshit    and they all put a shift  in. A rotten attitude, culture exists at villa. Needs to be fixed before we decide we want to play like Barca !

    Rubbish

Absolutely not. Lot of head in the cloud fans here. Moaning about an apparent style that a manager has when this is easily the worst villa team in living memory. Irony ?. They are horrible to watch. If the next manager sets us up well and at least gets us organised I'll be happy.

  8. I'd take pulis in a heartbeat. Some villa fans suffer from this football romanticism that west ham fans have as well. Not only must we win, we must do it a certain way. It's a myth that pulis teams play rubbish anyway. I've seen west brom play good stuff at times this season, better than the shite we've served up. To get current, for the "purists" here - we are going to be relegated today!

  9. Could easily see him ghosting past Charlie Daniels today, on pace alone. Could also see another scenario where Daniels gets a lot of joy down the left because when we don't have the ball, Traore won't want to know.

  10. Whoever the new man is, I think it's vital that he has total autonomy on who we bring in and release. For people who say "all premier league clubs signings are decided by a committee ". I don't agree. Bournemouth and west brom are two examples. You just know the players they bring in are sourced by the manager. Gosling, Surman, Gradel..all play neat and tidy, the Howe way..HIS kinda player. Not saying Howe and Pulls watch who they sign extensively but they clearly have clear, concise instructions and dialogue with their scouting department and the manager tells them what they want. I've never felt that with us in the last 5 years. Massive disconnect between manager, scouting and academy department. Most won't agree but Leeds's academy pisses all over ours at the minute. Needs fixing.

  11. I don't know where i stand on Pearson. Do we need the whole frosty relationship that already exists between himself and the Midlands media ? I think it might be something that goes against him when Hollis and Bernstein are deciding. Can't dismiss his whole "thing" with the media, has a knock on effect and we as a club come off looking bad then.

  12. Alex Mowatt, Alex Pritchard, Eunan O'Kane ( don't think he'll nail down a starting place at Bournemouth, they'll add more ) Rico Henry. If a club of our ilk - I'm talking our name, we MUST use it in the summer whilst it still means something. Those boys would be solid additions. I'd rather we bought the likes of those who we know would light that league up and still are young enough to be good enough to play premier league football.

  13. Long time lurker, first time poster. Villa fan from Ireland, Tipperary to be specific. Following the villa since the first premier league season. Was a combination of things, the unique name, Stan and Paul Mc.., Big Ron ,had a presence about him. Pains me to watch us in our current plight. We'll be back though
