Could be, also might be the fact the players aren't good enough. I guess we'll see if we get an elite manager and if they can get a tune out of them.

I do have a horrible feeling we were carried by Grealish. We've been garbage since he went.

They are good enough to get top half, certainly better than 17th!!!

Me too. The most 2 footed player in the team. Has a great first touch, turns well when receiving the ball, great passing range. Unfortunately for him though he has had the same problem that is now on Kamara's shoulders. No support and generally overrun in the middle by opposing midfields. We've never seen the best of Dougie because we've never backed him on the pitch or given him the support he should have had in midfield.

I'm actually quite pissed off how we've treated the kid tbh. At 24 yrs old he has been a most consistent midfielder since he arrived, and has been treated imo like some second rate player, just because he doesn't throw his weight around like a clogger. You know....like McGinn.

There was one incident in yesterday's game when Villa attempted to play the ball out of defence. McGinn received it , turned and immediately hit a long pass to an Arsenal player. Luiz would have turned looked around and picked a pass, retaining possession. It might be short pass a long pass, but he invariably finds a teammate. McGinn and JJ lose possession too often. Yesterday we resorted to Mings hoofing it, far too often because without Luiz we are unable to pass through teams. If he goes it is going to be a long winter.

Every man and his dog wanted to see Luiz and kamara together, we did for 60 minutes on Saturday and Gerrard thought it was a good idea to take him off. Can’t be mad at him if he’s had enough. Same goes for Buendia and bailey

Christ this makes for depressing reading. Surely he can't be about to offload some of our better players. What is he thinking???

In some fans eyes … The doom and gloom mongering  and hyperbole is somewhat laughable, OTT and based on fans expectations of instant success and not based in reality. We have no given right to be successful and we need to keep a bit of perspective. Forms not great but also not terrible. Losing isn’t great and we have looked devoid and haven’t been spanked (yet) and things could be different given a few positive results as confidence builds.

If we continue with Gerrard's system that spanking is coming very soon and it's going to be a nasty red blistered backside

Now that Declan Rice thats what you call a proper CM/DM

Didn't get a look in first half though. Really only came into second half after Luiz substitution. He was bang average today. Did you watch the match?

You can tell he still somewhat " has it ".

However it just appears he no longer has the hunger.

One of the pods did say they felt this was the difference between him and EMI for example.

I.E he's played at the top, won trophies etc, and now he doesn't find it easy to have that " hunger " anymore.

That driving and determined Phil might not be there anymore?

I think 'hunger' is the key word here. I read an interview with a guy called Mark English who won a bronze in the 800m last weekend in which he said he was able to hang for the medal because he was still hungry for success. He said that many rivals/fellow athletes found it difficult to maintain that hunger when they got to his age. He's 29. Perhaps Coutinho just can't muster the same motivation as before.
