  1. I'm pessimistic. Reckon we'll be 5th or 6th. Still a good season though as I never expected us to finish in the top four. Arse are 1-0 against Blackburn as I type.........pressure is on. I only hope that now the media etc have written us off we can shine as underdogs.

  2. I'm going to pick Petrov. He may not be the most glamorous or a headline grabber but goes about his job quietly and efficiently. His committment is second to none and he invariably uses the ball intelligently.

Some are saying he's overrated but I disagree. When he's on the ball he creates space, gives us time, and gets us ticking again.

A player who's workrate and composure allows others to shine.

  3. Your going to be disappointed then Nick and as i said before its ridiculous to lose faith in MON because he signs someone you don't like (defoe scored twice last night by the way) Why lose faith? The players has not played under MON you cannot possible know how good or bad they will be.

Signing players like Saviola and D'Allesandro, flair players that don't work as a team and will by the last players on MON list, thats for sure.

Your living in a dream world if you think were signing players like that its also a dream that they will do anything special; See Real Madrid for evidence of that!

Actually Saviola is very much a team player. He works hard and is exremely popular with his team mates and Barca fans like him a lot. If we signed him I'd be very pleased indeed. I don't rate D'Allesandro. I'd prefer his team mate Diego Melito, a very good striker.

  4. McGrath is known as one hell uf a player amongst Villa-fans, especially on here.

Other than that, I don't think many people in general would even pick McGrath for the top-30 list the last 20 years in the top flight.

Sorry to say it, but winning the Coke-cup twice isn't high regarded

How long have you been watching the Villa??

Most people would have him in their top 30 premiership players of all time and quite a few would have him in their all time top list from anywhere. He was quite simply brilliant!!

  5. He's a total fkwit and should be releaved of control of the club, but no one has the guts,

I totally agree. I have visions of this takeover saga dragging on and on with Ellis still in charge by season's start , Aitken as manager and Barry gone. .Wonder who'll want to buy us when we're in the Championship.

  6. The former Juventus, Barcelona and Real Madrid player won the superleague with Brondby a year ago and the 41-year-old was in the running for the Madrid job this summer before it was handed to Ramon Calderon.

Calderon is the provisional president of Madrid, not the manager. Capello was given that job.

Personally I think Laudrup could do a good job and would certainly be able to attract the right kind of players.

  7. Olly is good, no question, but really there is no comparison. Quite simply there are very few defenders alive or dead who can compare favourably with McGrath.

He was better with the ball at his feet, better in the air, read the game like no one else and all this with a pair of buckled knees and frequent hangovers not to mention bugger all training.

Keep up the good work Olly. A fine defender but not quite in GOD's class.

Perhaps a comparison with Southgate might create more debate.

  8. Suppose if I had to choose a player it would be Mellberg because of his quiet determination and no bullshit approach to the game. A thorough professional and one who will always give his best.

Not sure he's the ideal captain though...perhaps he's just too quiet.
