But there is absolutely no reason why we could not go back in.
There are 100 reasons.
Every EU country has a veto on new members. You ready to accede to whatever concessions a newly elected Sinn Féin government in Ireland would want? And ditto the farmers in Flanders and so on.
You’d need to the monetary union. That would be a problem. You’d probably have to join Schengen. That’s a problem.
Your country still doesn’t have a decent understanding of what the EU is/does. That’s a problem.
Rejoining would be at least 50% as messy as leaving was, imho.

Not really villa related, but if these numbers are true then our starting eleven is worth about half a billion!
Mad that Lerner bought the entire club for £60 million less than 20 years ago. That’s about half a Douglas Luiz these days.

Cheeky bid for Fernandinho, anyone? Last I read he’s still at City.

I’d say Kamara and Luiz are about equal in importance to us.

On the second point - I strongly disagree. If I want a new house the last people designing that house should be me and my family.
I suspect we’re much closer to agreement than you think. I may have phrased it badly
I object to the new badge being designed by marketers. I agree with you that it should be designed by professionals. But it should be designed by artistic people under suggestions by historians, not by 32 year olds named Cameron with an MBA and aiming to maximize Q4 revenue.

The “hard to distinguish from a marketing perspective” is an ill-fated approach, in my view, on two fronts.
Firstly, every actual fan recognizes it immediately. The only people who don’t recognize it are people the club are trying to attract. The focus is thus on potential new fans, rather than the existing life-long supporters. That’s a mistake, in my view.
Secondly, I reject the premise that this should be dictated by the marketing team. Football is a business, I know, and revenue generation is important. I know. But the crest of the club is something too important to be left up to the marketing team. It’s iconic. Handing the reins to Johnny in marketing (or Chris H) is cheap and short-sighted. Give it more class, you money-grabbing dickwads.

It’s inevitable. In fact it’s an active target for Heck and the club. Plastic fans are precisely what they mean with “driving commercial revenue.”

We have the best keeper in the world. Of course our actual conceded goals are less than expected.

Did well. Rested some players, got through.
Ref wasn't calling anything short of murder.

That's just madness and the exact opposite of a modern branding exercise.
You say that as if a “modern branding exercise” is a good thing. I hate a lot of modernity, and a lot of marketing is flash in the pan nonsense.

I’d like the club to innovate every year for five years. Get a new designer, not a committee but one new person each year, to design the badge for the next season.
Everyone knows they’re temporary. At the end of the five years, fans vote on their favourite. It lasts ten years.

I really don't like Jamie Carragher.

Bailey and Diaby. Cash and Digne. We will need that width.
-
Cash and Moreno should be the full backs. Blades will park the bus and we’ll need to stretch the width a bit.
Diaby, Bailey, Watkins up front.
-
Have a feeling Diaby will get a goal today.

I’ve never noticed how one footed he is. He’s playing like he has an in-grown toenail.
Was it his left foot that played that awful cross-field pass at the weekend?

Big day for the young man. Starts in Bosnia for us tonight.
Best of luck out there, Filip.

Fair enough. I’m just really not sure how big an effect that would actually be.
