Injuries mean he has walked into this team, and it shows. He’s been complacent.

Does anyone know who the blonde woman on our bench is?
(In before the MacPhee jokes.)

Very happy with that 11.
Only concern is no Moreno on the bench.

I wouldn't tbh. I know Pep's the best manager in the world but I don't care - I don't need the best - I love having someone who cares as much as Emery does and he's more than diligent and talented enough as it is.Do you think Pep would have done as well with relegation-threatened Villa as Emery has?
I’m very skeptical. Pep may be the better manager but he might not be the best for a club of our size/budget.

Arblaster is captaining Sheff Utd tonight at the age of 19, we were linked a few weeks back.
Could be one of the midfield options Percy referenced…
Bruno Fernandes should be playing for a CL team.

Can you imagine if it clicks for Moussa next year and he gets 15+ goals? We’d be unstoppable.

It is romantically nourishing.

Getting married on Saturday. Hope the missus doesn't mind a giant projector set-up behind the band.
A couple of years ago I had tickets to an important match. Apparently I wasn’t allowed to because we were “on honeymoon”, in a “foreign country”. And she was dead serious thinking that was a good excuse.

Was it ever clear to what extent that was his idea, versus the club hierarchy's? Anyway, it was **** stupid for the reasons you identify.
I think Stephen Ireland said it came from Lerner.
In other ex-Villa news, nice to see Callum O’Hare score against United today. Pity about the penos.

I echo the sentiment of everyone else here. But would also add that he is an absolute gentleman on the pitch.
And off. I’ve never once heard of him in the tabloids like with some other players we’ve seen over the years.

Rogers, Buendia, Ramsey, Diaby, Bailey. We’re gonna have some options next year.

8 million you’re having a laugh.
At his age, if he’d been at Chelsea the fee would have been £25m.

Well, how’s the coefficient if both Liverpool and West Ham win but don’t progress?

I was reliably informed Rogers has the capability to fill all of Buendia’s hole quite comfortably. He’s got a lovely touch for a big man.
Is the touching when he is filling Buendia or separate?

I'd put money towards him and a central midfielder, plus a defender on a free (Hermoso).
Yes please, I've always fancied her, but I think she plays more up front.

If we win our next two before Spurs’ next match, does anyone know how many points we’d be ahead of them?

You’ve clearly not played on some of the new astro pitches.

Possibly a dumb question, but how is a shot which goes off the inside of the post not a shot on target?
It did not require someone to prevent it going in. I know it sounds silly but of course that makes it off-target.

Robin Olsen
in Villa Talk
Posted
He played well. Distribution was much improved. Claimed a couple of tricky high balls. Was badly let down by Luiz for the first, and by McGinn/Tim for letting Gallagher have the freedom of Villa Park for the second. Made a good reflex stop from Madueke and saved the day after Diego’s joke of a clearance. Olsen coming for the ball did confuse Diego, but it’s him who has the take blame for slicing the clearance. It’s very easy to belt that ball out of play. Under pressure he risked a difficult hoof, and played it straight to them. Olsen spared us more blushes.
Robin’s competitor for a place in the team is the best in the world. We can’t compare the two. We need to look at it much more like how Lenglet comes in as cover. We can’t complain that he’s not the Rolls Royce passer that Pau is. Similarly, we can’t complain when Olsen is not as good as the best keeper in the world. We need reasonable standards, and by those reasonable standards Olsen did well.
