LOL...Man U let Paul McGrath go and we picked him up when he was 29. Apparently they thought he wasn't the future. Oooops.

A centre back with a good sense of positioning can last a lot longer than, say, a winger whose main asset is pace and who loses it with age.

John Terry is another fine example!

  2. Sounds like he just wants to be in France, which could maybe be a combination of homesickness and lack of game time.

Really weird one this as he’s clearly a good footballer but at this point I don’t think he wants to be here. Will go back to France on loan in January before being sold at a loss in the summer.

Lucien Favre nearly joined Crystal Palace, Fonseca has been selling himself to any Premier League club that is looking and Van Bronckhorst just went to Rangers

Thats just 3 for a start with better CVs.

What I would say is that I think the club is very much looking forwards - Gerrard was always the only candidate, wouldn’t surprise me if Purslow has been in touch from last season, however I would like to hope that it was down to the coaching set-up around Gerrard too and not just his name alone.

All we can do is get behind him however I don’t buy any of this shortlist rubbish, whether it be 20 names or 4 names. Stevie G was waiting for the call and I’m pretty certain of that.

I don't think he will, he does want success at all costs, agree with that....but I think he will keep his powder dry too, until the right players come up.

I think what we need immediately, will not cost big money....and I think he will demonstrate that, but I also think some fans, will be miffed.

We have talent in our team already, we need a different type to give that talent a platform to play off....I am sure he will know already.

He certainly won’t be buying £50k players. Sorry to kill the dream as such but Kamara from Rangers isn’t going to turn us into a European side - he isn’t the type of player we need and he isn’t good enough for the upper echelons of the PL (which is where we want to be).

Gerrard doesn’t need to scrimp and scrape and I’m pretty certain he won’t because thankfully he knows the gulf between the Premier League and the SPL. I can’t see us taking anybody from Rangers, can see us maybe utilising his relations with Liverpool which I’m not against, but besides that I think he will be using our scouting networking and working with our technical staff.

  5. Most Rangers fans say he is a brains behind the operation with Gerrard and he himself he lets him sort the coaching. Looking forward to what they get out of our squad.

I think we will see Trezeguet utilised.

I can't believe we've nobody lined up and we are know going to make an approach to talk to Gerrard.

This is going to be a farce. I don't even see him wanting to come here...not that I'd want him either tbfh.

It wouldn’t be so public if he didn’t want to come. Rangers just making sure they get their compo. I’m a big fan of Purslow but this decision is very personally driven

  7. Really sad end to his time here but unfortunately it looks like it’s goodbye to Deano. Fully appreciate him getting us back to where we are but with no action now things will regress further and we can’t risk being relegated again.

  8. Considering Dean is openly praised by many players for how good he is as a man manager, it’s really weird how this Sanson stuff is unfolding. Regardless of our current state of play, treating a player badly just doesn’t seem like a Dean Smith thing to do. Unless he just hates French people, hence Guilbert getting the same treatment.

was in the team, got injured, just about finished recovering played some minutes for the reserves and then went straight back in to the squad

id take it with a massive pinch of salt

Exactly + the fact we signed his brother also, the club clearly have a great relationship with the family. However, if better opportunities are on the horizon you really can’t blame him if he makes a move. “It’s not you, it’s me” vibes. He’s a very talented young lad and just as we have seen our own academy pinching players, the same can easily happen to us. Hopefully not though!

I don’t have the Athletic so can’t confirm it but apparently the new Gregg Evans article states Carney won’t sign a new contract currently due to lack of playing time or along those lines at least.

I expect everything will eventually turn out fine but we absolutely can’t mess this one up.

Think it’s more to do with the fact that there any many other clubs, here and abroad, ready to snap him up and offer him more playing time rather than him having a problem with how we have brought him through. There are just better opportunities for him elsewhere.

I'm guessing you think he should be sacked and nothing anyone says will change your mind. Fair enough.

I think 2 wins in 8 is not l good. But it's not  sackable form by any stretch of the imagination. We finished 11th last season and 17th the season before. Winning 2 out of 8 during a bad spell when we have players missing and we're trying to introduce a new system having lost our best player is not unexpected

What about 8 wins in nearly 30 games?

  12. Today’s line up looked like a direct response to fans rather than Deano‘s choice in my opinion. Sort of like “this is what you’ve asked for”.

Players aren’t happy clearly, something’s gotta give sooner or later. I don’t see how he gets us out of this, in the sense of our season is going to be below the standard expected and we won’t meet expectations. I think whether he goes now or goes in the summer, it’s kinda inevitable if we are going to stagnate. NSWE won’t have it and rightly so. We need to progress.

Probably from the brain dead mouth breathers on twitter, the vocal idiotic minority that some people seems to think represents the majority or your average person.

Unfortunately, as we all know, its a society wide problem, not just in football.

Yeah from what I saw on Twitter it was just Polish supporters telling him that he better not take the knee when he plays for them. The world is so weird.

  14. Such a shame for the guy, we can all have opinions on how he would have turned out but the fact that he himself will never know and it’s all down to Ben Mee being a word removed is the incredibly harsh part.

I saw something about him having a fitness backlog, this is in the last month, his injury as literally destroyed his career. I just hope he managed to change his life enough for it to be worth it.

BM should be banned for the life, absolute rocket polisher.
