He's a decent premier league level full back, excellent back up option.

Think its more "rotation" than "back up". The Prem has never been as physically demanding as it is now, the amount of distance players cover in the modern game is very high.

Did he happen to be good as a striker or in a narrower role? If not, then it's not saying much. There's a difference between just being able to plug a hole in a position and genuinely being good in it.

He’s always scored goals and been a talent, I think he may actually surprise a few people in more of a narrow role - we need to get him firing though. We need to get them all firing. Although we probably just need to get him to actually play first and foremost

Could Bailey play in a narrow front three?  If he can't he's going to be a major issue for SG due to the money we spent on him, his fitness is a concern anyway.

He has played as a striker, I don’t think it would be a problem tbf

Can't see him starting games for Everton either.

    But they need a squad

Pretty sure I read that they plan to utilise him from the bench not as a starting option. Obviously it depends how well he shows himself in training, but you’re right that they need a squad

I can understand the Coutinho and Digne signings. But this one is a bit odd. Brighton don't seem to keen sell at all despite the allegations which means we probably need to overpay to get him.

I don't think we are that desperate for a physical DM to pay over the odds and would rather this deal not happen. And that's before I include his allegations. We can look for a better value for money proper DM in the summer.

Don’t think that’s totally accurate - think he told Rafa he didn’t think they should be playing awful defensive football and should try to win games, then got dropped, then said he wants to leave. According to the Evertonians I know anyway - though admittedly they may be blinded by their hatred for Rafa!

Their fans are fuming - lots of annoyance over many things, E.g. apparently Digne was taken off corners months ago by Rafa but he’s still got their best corner stats for the season or something along those lines.

Told Benitez directly, its been in the news, it’s no secret.

Ah I see, so it’s just newspaper crap. What I can see Digne has directly said is that he didn’t want to leave and he signed a new deal there last season hoping to stay for a long time.

The fans like him, his teammates seem to like him too judging by the Instagram replies. Surely it makes more sense to go off this, rather than some crap made up by some journos?

He hasn’t been shunned, he said he wanted to leave and has been dropped since, rightly so too.

Said he wanted to leave to who? He literally just posted on Instagram that he didn’t want to leave

He was 16 last season and made 5 appearances.

And he has 7 (approximately I think it maybe 8?) appearances this season and we’re only half way through. What were you expecting?

    Why can’t the 2 co-exist?

Wanted to leave Everton because of Rafa and now wants to join us?

Exactly. He seems to have been shunned by Rafa and probably didn’t want to leave - but he’s had to. Now he moves into a new chapter and I’m sure he’ll post a long nice story about it in his shiny new kit

Hasn’t featured much for Dundee, any ideas as to why?

Probably because he’s been 16 years old for the majority of the season so far

  12. Can’t see Deano lasting much longer, they’re absolutely awful. I hope they’re smart and allow him to stay on regardless as he’s the man they will need to try get promoted next season, but as things stand it doesn’t look good at all

i don't see that he was that much better to be honest. trying to remember a goal/assist of note last season. we just didn't really play with attacking full backs but unfortunately that's a major requirement for SG

defensively i think he's fine. like a solid 7/10 LB. problem is he's about a 2/10 going forward (being generous)

neil taylor was absolutely lambasted on here even though defensively he was OK. at the moment, is targett much better? there are definite similarities...players are so reluctant to pass to him in the opposition 3rd, which is the same as when taylor was here.

Targett being crap in the final third is a myth though. There was a period where he had the best output for key passes etc. for a fullback in the league.

He just seems to have lost it again - as many have said when he loses his confidence it’s as if he loses it all. When it’s bad it’s bad.

  14. You’ll see Matty Targett at his best when playing behind closed doors. It’s a shame but he really seems to be deflated, and it’s surely not a coincidence that when he was at his best it was in empty stadiums.

  15. I love AEG and fully appreciate what he’s done here, but we were fully in the game when he came on last night - he had no better opportunity to make an impact in a match, but he just looked flat. The press completely stopped and he was moaning at team mates within minutes of making his entrance.
