  1. Is there any need for these daily briefings/questions now?

Release the completely pointless daily figures that may or may not be somewhere within a million of the actual numbers, nobody knows. Do the briefings once/twice per week on a monday & thursday or something and only allow the press to ask questions after one of them.

There is not enough to talk about every 24 hours, the exit plans will be worked on & changing constantly. When they have fixed information they will announce it at one of the briefings anyway, not just throw it in as an answer to a random question & The journalists still don't seem to have grasped that everyone can see/hear the responses to their questions so they should probably ask something different than the people before have asked. This is fine when they are just doing their own interviews for their own tv stations/papers etc but not now & they haven't changed. If the person before you has just asked the exact same question either ask something else or say you were going to ask the same thing and this has now been answered...

Has anyone seen the latest Dark Side of the Ring? It looks at the murder of Nancy Argentino at the hands of Jimmy Snuka in 1983, Vince McMahon does not come off in a good light.

Neither did that cop, Either the stupidest person ever or someone needs to look at his bank account.

5 minutes into the aftershow thing they do for this series you have Greg Valentine saying Snuka also got busted going through customs with a load of weed taped to him & Vince paid 80 grand to squash it

I don't think that's right . . . I was looking earlier, but couldn't find it, but I recently saw a graph with 2019 and 2020 mortality in NY state mapped against each other, and January and February tracked each other very closely, but March 2020 was a bloody enormous uptick. I don't think it's hard to see all these people dying in the data.

you can't just compare 1 year can you, It isn't a complete like for like, It can & does vary by hundreds/thousands every year

The uk march 2020 total is more than march 2019, but is hundreds less than the 5 year average

Just because people have underlying health conditions doesn't mean they are imminently about to keel over regardless.

i know, didn'y say it did but there is a chance that that sort of condition will eventually at some point lead to, or at least play a part in your demise.  Now this may well usually be in 10/20/30 years but it seems that this virus is causing it to happen now for a lot of people.

  5. Looks like nearly everyone dying already has something that could potentially lead to their death and this is essentially flipping the switch and causing a worst case scenario for everyone at the same time.

Looks like the best "cure" going ahead is avoiding things that lead to heart/respiratory issues so healthy diet, exercise, don't smoke & keeping weight down should at least help give you a fighting chance.

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-52308783

More than nine in 10 people dying with coronavirus have an underlying health condition, figures from the Office for National Statistics show.

The ONS looked at nearly 4,000 deaths during March in England and Wales where coronavirus was mentioned on the death certificate.

In 91% of cases the individuals had other health problems.

The most common was heart disease, followed by dementia and respiratory illness.

The average number of conditions those who were dying had was 2.7.

  6. Another one for the single figure views on youtube album collection...

Some of the indie kids may like this but it does actually have a bit of variety. maybe a little too much variety in places, almost sounds like a covers album at times, track 2 killers song, track 3 coldplay song., track 4 better oblivion community centre song... Couple of songs below but the whole album is on youtube.

buy it if you like it or something

  7. Now gone completely & Doubt it will be back for round 3 anytime soon.

The XFL -- Vince McMahon's pro football league -- has officially filed for bankruptcy ... just days after folding the league, TMZ Sports has learned.

A league spokesperson tells us, "The XFL quickly captured the hearts and imaginations of millions of people who love football."

"Unfortunately, as a new enterprise, we were not insulated from the harsh economic impacts and uncertainties caused by the COVID-19 crisis."

"Accordingly, we have filed a voluntary petition for relief under Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code."

"This is a heartbreaking time for many, including our passionate fans, players and staff, and we are thankful to them, our television partners, and the many Americans who rallied to the XFL for the love of football."

  8. Tried it as it is on gamepass. Used to love these games & grew up playing the early manager games on c16/c64 but haven't really got the time now and they now feel that they are far more complicated than they need to be. Decided to just start as liverpool  spent 100 million on grealish & traore. They are now quite frankly terrifying in midfield/attack with my modified 3-4-3. Played 11 league games won all 11, scored 37 & conceded 1. Also won all other cup games. Villa have 6 points & are 19th.

Into November & the defenders are starting to get a bit tired playing every game. They really are quite thin at the back so will have to try & beg some more cash in Jan or sell some of the 15 or so midfielders that make up my 25 man squad. I will actually finish the season but that will probably be enough for me in all honesty.

I managed half of the first episode

it does get slightly better, Only slightly but it does improve. Big Show is reasonable enough in it but he's quite sweaty under studio lighting & hobbles around rather a lot

Its not the ONLY difference though is it

Just off the top of my head. Welsh Lockdown law is different to English. Scottish NHS is funded by Scottish Parliament... The are LOTS of differences

No you're right, Scotland & Wales are some of the worst countries in the world for ICU beds per capita...

I'm not saying it's irrelevant, I'm saying it cannot be talked about as if it is the only explanation, when it clearly isn't.

The culture is different but the main thing with South Korea seems to be the testing, They were testing 10,000+ per day back in Eary/mid feb so people knew if they actually had it. Over here everyone is completly clueless, Thousands of people will have been self isolationg for nothing more than a sore throat, assuming they are now fine and going out and catching it

To echo and build on the point @Stevo985 made, the problem with this argument is that South Korea (particularly the Seoul area), Taiwan (particularly the Taipei area) and Hong Kong all have similar population sizes to the London area, higher population densities, and higher riderships for public transport (over 90% of journeys in Hong Kong are via public transport, one of the highest in the world), and in addition, all three had greater connectivity to Wuhan via air and earlier cases than we did, yet all have much smaller outbreaks that are under much better control.

Now, it's reasonable to point out that these places are culturally different than London and the wider UK, in terms of mask-wearing, taking viruses seriously, following public health information and so on. So 'norms' might be considered to fill a part of the gap between their performance and ours. But whatever is left is the gap in 'policies', and that's what the government need to be judged on (also, they could have worked harder to change norms, and a better policy mix might have created more space for doing so - for example, if we had mass-produced masks in January and February, we could have pushed the 'norm' of mask-wearing outside in late Feb/early March, and that would have reduced the outbreak).

Wales & Scotland have both done the same things, at the same times as England. England has thousands of deaths, the others do not. As all 3 countries are physically connected The only real difference is Number of people & population density....

320 dead in Ireland. Scaling up for population that would be about 4,000 in the UK. So we’re not talking a difference of 10% or 20%, but something like 100%. Twice as many dead in the UK as there “should be”.

Thousands dead. Thousands. Compare that to Grenfell which was, of course, an unthinkable outrage.

I cannot believe people think HMG have handed this well. It’s beyond my understanding.

doesn't work like that though does it, Irelands less than 5 million people are pretty spread out, only 71 people per square km on average & not getting millions of international travellers every week

In England that figure is close to 450 per square km, The UK as a whole 274 per square km. In greater London, An area with a population of 2 million+ more than Ireland there are around 15,000 people per square mile

1 person in Ireland gets it they probably aren't going to give it to that many people, 1 person in London gets it they can in theory give it to hundreds/thousands simply getting to & from work on the tube

Ireland population & density are both very similar to Scotland, Scotland has closer to 500 deaths but guessing this being a little higer can be down to being closer to large populated areas of England & more frequent travel between

Renault F1 team are furloughing the majority of their UK staff.

Be interesting to see if they get the same backlash as football clubs did.

Doubt it, Mclaren did the same a week ago, Williams & racing point have also done the same for large sections of staff. and F1 themselves (Formula one group) furloughed half of their 400 uk staff this week

This is a wider non-coronavirus issue.

There's plenty of youtube (other video sites too) with police doing similar daft things like telling people not to film them from their own front garden and not understanding the law at all.

I do have some sympathy with coppers on the beat if they don't know the law (they are not omniscient scholars of jurisprudence) but the attitude with which they sometimes try and project their opinion or feeling as the law is quite remarkable.

appears to be idiot copper but also guess there may be more to this. A house round the corner from me has chalked out a huge hopscotch grid all down the pavement, well over 20m long that extends into their garden. Went past earlier and there was 5 kids & 3 adults in and around the garden, Their next door neighbour & their kids were also sat in their garden and was obvious the kids were all playing together & the parents having a natter, The neighbour opposite them was also on their driveway with the kids again playing in the street. In reality they probably aren't doing anyone any harm but if 1 of them has it then there is a good chancwe that at least 14 of them have it now...

Yes, you do. That you don't know that you do or suppose that you don't is at the heart of the problem.

I had something in the back of my mind about an average of 23 days between infection and carking it but if the above is the case then I guess that might extend my 'spike' worry.

Given that it is now 24 days since i thought there was a fair chance i was going to croak from this and it still kinda feels like it may well be in the balance i really couldn't care less if someone if monitoring my every move. In fact i kinda wish they were right now so Bill Gates if you're reading and want to inject me with some of your tracking nanobots give me a call...

Just checking, you’re not being serious there are you?

Is the argument that the innocent have nothing to fear? Or that it would make everyone concentrate on improving their general compliance with council bye laws and credit ratings?

Personally, I’d rather go for the maximum degree of personal freedom that does not result in my being alone when a vigilante / mad max gang rides in to town.

Perfectly serious, Honestly have nothing to hide/fear so why would i care. Amazon/my bank & online stores already know all of my shopping history & prfereences, google/ms/samsung already know all of my interests & every single random thing i have ever looked at online, The thing on my wrist measures every single step i take, knows where i am, what my heart rate is, when i go to bed & wake up + how much i have been sat on my arse today, my phone is always in my pocket & combined with the watch i can in theory already be pinpointed pretty accurately down to the immediate area, Hell the central heating thermostat knows what time i get home & what temperature i like in the house..

This is also coming from someone that is actully reasonably anonymous online. I don't have facebook/twitter/youtube/any sort of social media etc with any of my real name associated/visible

If you are online/have a phone & think you are not being monitored/tracked in some way you are very much mistaken

This bit is quite patent nonsense as demonstable by our very own country. We are by far the most surveiled population in Europe already and it is not dropping the crime rate, the only reason the crime rate may appear to drop is under reporting, which is happenning massively in the UK

The police are already using facial recognition cameras in London to attempt to  identify criminals / suspects. The failure rate is absolutely astounding. It's OK to say you have no problem with it, until its you banged up for a day, presumed guilty , then it turns out many hours later that you aren't who they though you were. Happening to a lot of black people

far from proper decent CCTV on every single street/corner though isn't it. Hell even most shops inbternal cctv looks like it was shot with a motorola flip phone. Facial recognition cameras would be a lot more accurate over time with HQ cameras quite literally everywhere, Combine this with tracking peoples phones or even better internal microchips to track everone & i imagine it would be pretty reliable

Oh look in related civil liberty news, this has raised its head as an idea... *insert many swear words*

Think i am obviously one of the few but i have no issues at all with stuff like that, Chip me, track me, listen to my phone calls/alexa. Have 8k cameras & drones covering every single street i really don't care & not just as a response to anything virus related. Go back 6 months & would gladly say the same about general every day life.
