  1. B-1-ktVWwAEHJn9.jpg

    'mini' tour dates:

Great Hall, Cardiff University - May 1 and May 2

    O2 Academy, Glasgow - May 5

Albert Hall, Manchester - May 6

    O2 Academy Brixton, London - May 8

Sound, will be trying to sort some Brixton tickets.

  2. We always attack much more down the right with Hutton, I'm not sure if this is because Hutton is better or because he has much more support than Cissokho gets when attacking down the left. It always seemed like the case under Lambert, it was a bit more balanced the other day.

  3. If he goes with the Chelsea style 4-2-3-1, then i'd like to see this:

    --------------Guzan-----------------

    Hutton---Vlaar---Clark---Cissokho

    -------Sanchez---Delph------------

    -----Bacuna---Gill---Sinclair-------

    --------------Benteke---------------

All three of that AM line have pace / can play forward passes / can run past a man / can finish.  If they're all buzzing around the final third of the pitch, swapping positions etc we'll make chances for sure.

Id love us to set up with this team and formation today. I dont know whether it would have Gil dropping a little deeper to receive the ball or Bacuna and Sinclair dropping but it has pace power and attacking intent.

Was just going to post the same formation, which is what I'd like to see. As if it's true Westwood & Cleverley aren't starting then it looks like 2 in the middle. Not sure how it would work in general play but I'd possibly play Bacuna on the left. He would want to come inside all the time which although it might be predictable, if he does get space you know what he can do, it will also give Cissokho a bit of space on the overlap.

Gil can choose where ever the hell he wants to play, drop deep, support Benteke or out wide. Even if he is put on the right he needs to have license to roam.

  4. The only way to top this news would be Gérard Houllier returning as DOF and Lambo coming back as Chief Scout. What a management team. UTV!

Well let's hope Riley was a bigger factor in some of our successful transfers rather than Lambert, either side of his spell at Liverpool. Hasn't McLeish said that Benteke was in a pool of potential players that he had while in charge?

  5. I would just try and go in with it first, but you'll need more time in case you have to go back to the ticket office

I get a student concession ticket (I do have a student ID card) it bleeps as I go through but never been questioned despite looking far too old to be a student.

So I agree just go for it, leaving a bit of time if you are unlucky.

  6. Doesnt seem temporary to me. The fact Sherwood has been to a fair few villa games recently shows the club have been interested in him for a long time, probably when Pullis was available Too.

Too me that suggests that Tom Fox has got the manager he wants, and has wanted for a while. This will only be temporary if Sherwood fails to deliver anything better than Lambert was.

Which in itself, would be very difficult to be that bad.

I've seen this mentioned in passing but not seen any proof...

There's definitely been a couple of pictures posted the first he was with a group of people and the second in the stand. Not seen them since they were posted to see if he is wearing the same clothing but each was posted after 2 separate games.

  7. These things may seem small, but when i go to away grounds and they get it right i get really envious.

I think we currently use 'paranoid' by black sabbath (although a classic and brilliant tune) it is dated and wouldnt get me pumping before a game as a player, the title of the track 'paranoid' is not really suitable either. 'Galvanise' is a modern tune and delivers the tim sherwood message to a tee!

Be interested to hear anyone elses thoughts on this, im considering emailing the club and suggesting it but have no idea who to contact.

If I was a player i don't think I'd even notice what was playing and certainly wouldn't care. It's not to say it's not important though, if it helps get the crowd going. Chants of Villa from The Holte and the rest of the ground would get me much more pumped up.
  8. Well only a couple of days ago I was posting people were overdoing the negativity about appointing Sherwood.

Now I find myself thinking the optimism is a little overdone and premature !

It probably has been a bit over board at times since the final whistle went Sunday but it's definitely nice to see a bit of optimism

  9. Would be interesting to know what Lineker thought as you could really tell if he was just being a presenter. Going by he didn't make too much of an argument I guess he didn't think it was either.

  10. I knew he was going to score from that situation. I think he's a useful player whether he starts or not

Yeah, as soon as the ball went to him I called the goal. You could just see he was going to have the time and space to cut inside and he's got a great curling shot, never in doubt.

  11. So that was all that was missing then? It's just extremely simplistic to think that Sherwood going in and saying "express yourselves" has won the match, of course it was good for the players to hear from the new man but proclaiming this a victory for Sherwood is just ludicrous, he hasn't held one training session yet!

Is a couple of passionate team talks going to save our season? No of course it isn't, but there is no denying it made the difference today. What ever was said and the change in tactics meant the second half was much better than the first, which frankly wouldn't have been hard but it was a huge change.

Can't remember any of your posts on Sherwood getting the job if you did, but your comments strike me as someone that doesn't want him here and won't change your mind till you're given no option.

A passionate half time team talk has changed many a game, so I can't believe your giving him no credit at all. The motivational approach can only get you so far and the hard work will need to be done on the training pitch and on match day if we're going to carry this big lift past a game or two.

  12. Cheers Dave ! I wouldn't say I'm not behind him, why wouldn't I be I mean he's managing the club so of course I want him to do well, I want him to win the f a cup and keep us up. Then I'll think he's a little less shite , but to be honest I don't expect him to see out his contract and I do expect us to get relegated

Did you think we we had a better chance of staying up with Lambert?

  13. Far superior to Weimann.

That's the problem, he hasn't been. Weimann isn't a particularly good player in that wide role but N'Zogbia hasn't shown any signs of even matching Weimann let alone owning that position.

  14.

    Signed.

I think other clubs do this but it doesn't cover agency staff.

Which is odd, because under the Agency Workers Rights legislation if those agency workers establish a pattern over thirteen weeks then they're entitled to the same wage and conditions as directly employed workers doing the same job. A season of match days is a pattern so I'm guessing they'd end up paying anyway. It's a strange and complicated world.

They can probably argue it isn't such a strong pattern as its not every week, the match day changes as well as kick off time so its not the same shift every week.

In my job we pay living wage to contracted staff but not to casuals(which are non agency) although with unions involved this may change. The casuals get an hourly rate which is supplemented with holiday pay.

  15. I probably wouldn't have chose him, but as I said I didn't really care he we got. It just needs to work. Important it was done quickly and it has been.

It was always possible with him being at our games recently. Which gives 2 possible reasons; this has been in the process for a little while or he was like a Vulture waiting for the kill. Whichever it is, he has being preparing for this possibility. Watching our games and assessing what he thinks we need to do. Lets hope he's got a plan, which no doubt he has, he's gone in with and spoke to Villa 'prepared' and it's got him the job. Which as a positive, which other candidate has prepared as well as this for the job?(excluding work experience)
